1962...
Just a short little update. As 1961 was filled with many changes, 1962 had very little event going on. Which was kinda nice just to sit back and play with the families a bit.
Start the year off with twins Karen and Kathy's Birthday. Daughters of Virginia and her love affair with Bucky. Grandaughters of Ruth Johnson. George and Ruth came by to visit.
William Johnson turns 50. First of the 2nd gen to become elders.
Mark Damme ages up. Son of Edward and Chiyo, grandson of Frank. They also adopted cattle dog pup Rezy.
Biggest event of the year, our first-gen death roll. Frances Damme McDermott. She is 69 and is lucky to live another year. I am still following the odds die evens live roll, but with google number generator and mccc instead of the cow plant.
Joseph and Jeffery Damme age up. Sons of Arthur and Molly, grandson's to Frank. Edward came by and gifts Frank to make amends on their rocky relationship.
Just to wrap up 1962. A baby chick was born and Amalie was super excited and then a fire broke out. It was trapped in the roof area so my sim nor the fire department could get to it. It damaged quiet a bit before I even realized it was there then having to cheat to destroy it.
1963...
A bit of a sad year. Though it has big moments in history. Martin Luther King Jr. walk took place in the fight for civil rights and later that year President Kennedy was assassinated.

Part 2...
Frances has her second Death Roll and lives. She is 71.
For the Civil Rights Movement we have Linda Shelton protesting for no sim left behind. Her family supports her choice and in her endeavors she meets Axxl Bertram who introduces her to others in the movement and for the cause.
Part 3...
Ruth has her Death Roll at age 70. Unfortunately she didn't make it. Her family had gathered one more time. Donald didn't make it to the gathering but he did come to funeral and hung out with George after, strengthening their brother bond.
At the end of 1963 in November the President was assassinated. Lewis was at home still mourning his sister's death.
1964...
What a full year. This family is growing and getting older. The more I play them the more I love.

And Francis lives another year. She is now 72. And Carol gets married to Michael Fox. They had a very lovely wedding. After the wedding, they are expecting their first child.

Rye Damme has a Death Roll and lives. This cat is now 21 years old.
Peanut has a Death Roll and lives another year. Now 12 years old.
Sayuri ages to 18. She visits her grandfather Frank and after her mother Chiyo takes her out to celebrate. They go into the Urban Cafe in the city where they meet Jude Fraser protesting to eat in the front of the cafe. The two hit it off pretty well and find they have a mutual friend in Linda Shelton.
Part 4...
Marie McDermott turns 18. She celebrates with family then spends time with her beau Clifford Kenny.
David Damme becomes a teenager. He is the eldest of Arthur and Molly.
Part 5...
Michael discusses the Vietnam War with his family. Mary is scared for him but his dad Connor tells him to be proud to serve. Michael doesn't want to and protests against the war. This makes Connor mad as he served his country and feels his boys can to.
With the war coming ahead, Linda and Axxl Bertram get married. Their wedding took place on a rainy day, but they did not let that ruin the fun. Even her famous uncle Don Johnson came and Axxl was star struck. Her family accepts Axxl and loves to have him join their family. After the wedding, Linda and Axxl are expecting.

A great update, from this point on you can go full groovy and classic 60s! What's happened with the gay actor character? Haven't heard from him in the story for a while.
@Kellogg_J_Kellogg he showed up to Linda's wedding. They're gonna be part of the war segment when I am able to get to it. I have some things personally going on right now. So I wanted to get in a few years while I had the chance.

Just a curiosity. How many sim-days has a year in your play?
I starred out with 4 sim days being a year. Each day is equal to 3 months. I like the challenge but wish I had more time to play.
I mostly follow the rules from the challenge guide. A couple of things I did different is I use MCCC to age my non heir family members, to kill off my sims instead of using the cow plant but I still do the dice roll odds they die evens they live. I also use it to set relationships for non heir families in extending the family line.
In addition I looked up what the average age of death for someone is when they were born and I have their death roll when they reach that age. I also looked up what the average marriage age for females and males are and have them married, or not pending on their story line, at that age.
1965... Start of the Vietnam War. As the war wages on and soldiers are deployed, the family life also continues. Every family is involved in one way or another with the war effort, civil rights, and in a couple of years the anti-war movement.
Part 1
First, we have some Birthdays.
Charles King becomes a teen. Son of Delores and Heath, grandson of Lewis and Amalie Damme.
Gary Johnson becomes a teen. Son of George and Cate, grandson of Ruth and Paul Johnson.
Part 2
Vietnam. First round of soldiers.
Edward Damme is a full-time soldier and Captain in the army.
Henry Hughes is the husband of Betty Johnson, he is a spy and joins in as pilot.
Volunteers are John Damme Sr.
Mary's sons James and Richard Shelton, others Clifford Kenny, and Curtis Young.
Part 3
Cynthia Fox is born. Daughter of Carol and Michael Fox, grandaughter of Dorothy and great-grandaughter to Frances. Just after her birth Michael was called to duty.
Part 4
Connor Shelton turns 50.
Kevin Bertram is born. Son to Axxl and Linda. Grandson to Mary and Connor, great-grandson to Ruth and Paul.
1966... We lose two first-gen sims, have some birthdays, and challenge the coming days.

Lewis had his death roll and sadly did not make it.
Devastated from his brother's death, Frank also passes.
Part 2
David Hughes has his 18th Birthday. He goes off to college at Brightchester.
James Wellington also turns 18. He attends college and is able to defer enlistment.

Steven Damme becomes a teen.
Warren is at it again, hanging out at the bars and lounges. Always away from his family.
Lisa Burns becomes a child.
Part 4
Frances has another death roll and lives, she is now 73. She is the oldest of the first-gen and seems like she might outlive them all. Dorothy has her 50th birthday. The family gathers and Cynthia also becomes a toddler.
Part 5
Ruth's family
Mary's triplets become adults. Barbara with her family and Richard and James age up at war. They spent their birthday on recon in a harsh storm. Edward had to make camp due to the bad conditions. They were ambushed and Edward and Richard were taken prisoner while James got away.
Susan Johnson turns 18. She attends college staying with her cousin David Hughes.
Part 6
Dean watches the news and is worried about the war. He wants to join and make a difference but he is unsure with all the unrest stirring up. Don takes him out and they have a good time in the private lounge. Don is also inspired and wants to tell everyone about their relationship. Dean is not ready and fears what it will do to them, not just their careers, but also their lives. He doesn't believe people are ready for it. They argue and Dean storms out. He is caught by the paparazzi and fears the headline. Over the following days Don leaves to film his new movie and Dean enlists.
1967 to 1969
This post covers 3 years of the Damme Family. There have been many ups and downs and changes all around.
1967 Part 1
Remy, Warren's best friend, has his death roll and sadly doesn't live another year. Devastated by his death, Warren continues to drown his sorrows in a bottle.
Axxl and Linda Bertram's baby, Kevin becomes a toddler.
Axxl protests the war and Civil Rights. The long hot summer of 67 left Axxl very busy. The biggest of these protests was the Detroit Riot of 67 which left thousands injured and arrested and many dead. When Axxl returned home from his arrest he vowed to never leave his kid again.
1967 Part 2
Sayuri elopes with Jude Fraser. Against her mother's will as Chiyo wanted her to wait until her father returned. Chiyo kicked her out of the home and her and Jude lived in a modest apartment in Evergreen Harbor. They are expecting but Jude gets drafted later in the year.
Patricia ages up to 30 and Vinny enlists.
1967 Part 3
At the end of the year, we have a War rotation. Those who have served their enlistment are given a DR and sent home if lives. While others are drafted and sent over.
Edward Damme and Richard Shelton were captured and taken as POW's.
Curtis Young... enlisted and first to survive and be able to return home. He is a friend of Axxl's and Jude.
Next up was Clifford Kenny. He's the beau of Marie McDermott. He luckily lives and returns home to propose to his love.
James Shelton not only survived being taken as a POW but he has survived the war. He lives and has the unfortunate duty of letting his family know of their loved ones. He is left hardened and paranoid from his venture.
James tells Chiyo of her missing husband Edward.
1967 Part 4
Michael Fox lived and returned home to his family.
Henry Hughes didn't make it. His plane went down and he died in a fiery crash. James visited Betty to let her know. Their son David was away at school. While he returned home for the funeral they were both left devastated and felt very alone.
One of the biggest loss is our heir John Sr., he died saving another soldier's life in The Battle of Dak. The US suffered near 1800 casualties as they resisted the oncoming forces. James informed both his mother Amalie and his wife Margie.
1967 Part 5
Mary Shelton turns 50. James did tell her of Richard's capture and while saddened by it she was very happy to see her son. She wanted him to move back into the home but he wanted to stay with his brother Michael.
Just after, Axxl got drafted. He blames his involvement in the protests which makes him even more angry over the civil rights treatment and the war. photo upload website
1968 Part 1... Births and Weddings
We start the year off with John Jr. Birthday. He ages to 18. He was able to avoid drafting and went to college.
Marie marries Clifford Kenny. They move their family to Henford on Badgley. She also becomes expectant of a little one.
John's cousin, Deborah King also aged up to a teen.
History note... This is when the My Lai Massacre occurred. Over 500 innocent people, civilians, were killed and mutilated by US troops. I wanted to note this incident as it plays a big role in support against the war. It was an incident that outraged all and wasn't reported until a year later in 1969. This led to more protests, including Woodstock and it lead to the decreasing of troops in the area.
1968 Part 2
The expansion of the Civil Rights Act is set leading to fair housing for all. It is also the year that Martin Luther King was assinaited devastating the entire country. Many mourned his loss and lead to the silent march in Memphis.
Sayuri was among them as she went into labor. But all the heartache and troubles she had faced, between being disowned by her mother, her father missing, her husband Jude at war, and having to live under the scrutiny of others... she died giving birth to Christopher Fraser. Chiyo, her mother could never forgive herself for letting her daughter go, so much so that she could not bear the sight of her grandchild. The loss of her daughter and her husband missing was more than she could take on. Christopher went to live with his granduncle Arthur Damme and his family. Art's family took him in with all love and care. They write to Jude and hope he gets their letters and hopes he finds peace in all this hate.
Teresa Damme becomes a teen. Warren moves his family back n with his mother since the loss of his brother and his nephew off to college.
1967 Part 3...
Frances had a DR but we let her live. She is now 75 and the oldest surviving of the first generation.
We end 67 with the wedding of Susan Johnson and Timothy Fuller. Susan also graduates from college with a two-year degree. They move into Oasis Springs and become expectant.
1969 Part 1...
Start the year of with Michael Wellington's Bday. Shortly after Anna had a death role, she is part of the first-gen. She passes at the age of 70. Michael is then drafted to Vietnam.
Twins Karen and Kathy become teens. They're the love children of Virginia Johnson and Bucky Barns.
1969 Part 2...
Robert McDermott turns 50.
Mark Damme becomes a teen. He's the son of Edward and Chiyo and brother to Sayuri. He often visits his nephew Chris and hopes that when his father returns, his mom will feel better and the family will become whole again.
Axxl Bertram ages to 30 while deployed. He misses his family and counts the days till he can go home.
Margie meets and falls for Bobby Bonehilda. They get marroed in a quickie wedding and move to Newcrest. Teresa isn't fond of him and finds his home creepy. He has a room where no one is allowed to enter. She often talks to her brother John, who has also found a special someone.
1969 Part 3...
Moon Landing underway. Amalie hosts a get tother with her family to watch the first men on the moon.
Twins Joeseph and Jeffery Damme become teens.
Marie and Clifford Kenny welcome baby Jennifer Kenny to the family.
Woodstock... that's all I'm saying.
1969 Part 4...
Christopher Fraser ages to toddler.
David Damme ages to 18. He's drafted but after Woodstock, he doesn't want to go. He and Michael Shelton dodge the draft and head out of country.
1969 Part 5...
Susan gives birth to Kimberly Fuller.
David, James and John spend time wooing their girls and prepping for the future.

1970... So many families with so much going on. New decade new clothes, at least for the most part. This wasn't that bad of a year. Have some birthdays, as always, maybe a death, but weddings and trouble on the horizon to follow.
Part 1... Lots of aging up to do.
Gary Johnson turns 18. Lucky for him he's able to go to college and skip the war.
Geeorge Johnson, Gary's father takes in a stray cat. He names her Hezley.
Charles King also turns 18, but he got drafted and will join others in the Vietnam War.
Porkchop becomes an Elder. He is the pup that Anna got for Michael Wellington who is currently fighting in Vietnam.
Part 2... More Birthdays.... and we lose a long-time companion.
Carol Emmerson becomes a teen. Went to check in on this Emmerson family as I haven't played them in a while and they had an addition to the family. Sam Emmerson is now a toddler. Barbara Emmerson is the first daughter and part of the triplets of Mary Shelton. She meet and married Jack Emmerson, a go-getter in politics who is now Governor of Willow Creek.
Michael Fox and Dottie age up. Mike turns 30 while Dottie becomes a toddler. Frances also had a Death Roll but is fortunate to live yet another year. She is now 77 years old and the last of the first-gen children.
Sadly we have the Death of Peanut. The well-loved and long-lived companion of Delores King.
Part 3... Sophia turns 50 and her son James gets married. But James isn't the only one to take that leap.
The beautiful and sensational Sophia Wellington. Becoming even more beautiful with age.
The Wedding of James Wellington and Helena Berker. They marry as his parents and grandparents did before him, in the Chalet Gardens. Naturally, everyone was invited and had a great time. Had such a great time in fact that it lasted into the following day.
The Romance Festival came about and I couldn't resist. David Hughes and Bridgitte decided to marry, bringing their wedding party up a day early to enjoy the festive occasion.
And in the heat of their moment... John Damme and Cheryl join in on all the love nuptials.
Part 4... Trouble in the waters.
Shortly after the wedding... David and Bridg move in with Betty, his mother. It is his family home after all and the place he wishes to raise his own family. That's right Bridg and David are having a baby. Some wonder if their fast act to the aisle was the reason or did she become pregnant on their wedding day? Either or matters not to Betty, she's just glad to have her family back with her.
Teresa has now lived in the creepy house with the secretive Mr. Bonehilda. She grows short-tempered and non-compliant to house rules. She and Bobby argue so much so that Marge has even joined in on the tension between them. She asks Bobby to be considerate of her teenage daughter, she did lose her father and has moved her entire life. Bobby dismisses her, it's his home his rules. But Teresa is determined to find out what he is hiding.
Teresa confides in her brother and often seeks his advice. He talks with his mother about it, but mostly just wants them to be happy and see what he can do to fix things.
After finally getting a break and finishing the year up at school, John takes his newly wife out and about. But she gets highly jealous of the waitress who was serving them drinks. Thinking there was more to John's conversation with the very young lady than ordering drinks. So young in fact she wonders if she's even old enough to be in a pub. They argue full-on green-eyed monster for all to see. The young girl is dismissed from the bar by the owner as Cheryl is a patron to his establishment. John gets so frustrated with Cher who has just caused the girl to lose her job, he questions rather or not it was a good idea marrying her. But she had never acted that way before.
Well, we have finally made it to the 1970s. So much more drama to ensue.

Steven Damme turns 18. Lucky for him he gets to go to Vietnam, I'm so ready for this war to be over. Steven is the son of Warren and Evelyn, grandson of John Sr. and Amalie, and great-grandson of Lewis, and great great-grandson of our founder Emmet and Carolina and great great great grandmother Elizabet. (side note... might be time to update the family tree.)
Next up Cynthia Fox becomes a child. (The age range I am using is newborn for 1.5 years, Toddler is 1.5 to 5 years of age, Child is 6 to 12 Years of age. Teen is 13 to 17 years of age, Young Adult is 18 to 29, Adult is 30 to 49, and Elder is 50 to their death rate age). She is the grandchild of Dorothy Rogers and great-grandchild of Francis.
Jennifer Kenny ages up to toddler. She is the granddaughter of Robert McDermott and great-grandaughter of Francis.
Part 2... Age up, Age up, Adoption, Birth
Rezy becomes an Elder. He is the companion of Edward and Sayuri. Now in the care of Edwards son Mark. Mark has had to tend to his family at such a young age. His mother Chiyo has fallen into a deep depression and he can only hope and pray they find his father soon.
Kim Fuller becomes a toddler. Daughter to Susan and granddaughter to George Johnson. She is the great-grandaughter of Ruth.
Amalie has a talk with Warren about his drinking. With his son away at war, he has his wife and this family to tend to and can't be wasting his family legacy away in a bottle. Warren promises to quit and adopts a puppy to fill the void. He names her Fae and she is a Retriever. Having her and taking care of his mother gives him a sense of purpose again.
Michelle Hughes is born. Maybe they were pregnant before getting married, but who cares about that kind of thing in the 1970s. She is the granddaughter of Betty and Henry Hughes.
Part 3... Age ups and Birth.
Carol Fox turns 30. She is officially an adult.
This cutie turns 6. Love this little guy. He is so curious and cheerful all the time. Mary sure has some amazing grandchildren. Here is Kevin Bertram and Family.
The Wellington Family is proud to announce the birth of Brian Wellington. He is the grandson of Ernest and Sophia and great-grandson to the lately departed Anna Wellington.
Part 4... The Divorce.
As you know Teresa and Bobby just weren't getting along. She was bound and determined to discover his secret. She knew he was hiding something from her mother but just didn't know what. There were way too many strange things going on in the house and she was terrified all the time. Lights would flicker and things would go missing or not be where they were last put. Strange noises would come from that locked room that they weren't allowed to enter.
Bobby even got so frustrated with her prying that he became so paranoid that he lashed his behavior out on Marge as well. "Your daughter is out to get me and so are you" he'd tell her. The tension was just getting thicker and thicker.
One day Teresa had gotten home early from school. She discovered Bobby doing some kind of enchantment and doing weird things in the parlor and weird things happening. Finally, Teresa just couldn't stand it anymore. She was breaking into that room. But she would have to wait until dark after he went to bed.
Shock and aww came about her as she entered. She couldn't believe it. The word what a Weirdo came to mind, but as she circled the room skulls, possessed dolls, voodoo, and all sorts of evil were in that room.
She would have to wait till morning to tell and show her mother. But she could never get her mother alone so she confronted them straight on. Bobby smirked off her accusations and was angry she went into his private dwelling. Marge tried to smooth things over and calm Teresa down when she noticed that Bobby had snuck out of the room.
She confronted him right at the door demanding to see what he had in there. With frustration and ill content, he obliged her. Shock and fear came over her face. She couldn't believe it. Why did he have these things, what was he into? He confessed that he was in a cult of witches and they collect what is thought to be possessed items. Marge was furious. He had her and her child in a home where crazed rituals and hexing was taken place. Marge was a big believer in the spiritual world and she did not believe in messing with it. She left him and got divorced as soon as she could.
Part 5... Moving and a Beloved Death.
Marge went to her son and asked if they could stay until they could find a place. John had to confer with Cher as it was her home. Cher reluctantly agreed and told Teresa she hopes they find a place soon.
Marge and Teresa didn't stay much in the house, they were always out and about trying to stay out of the way. But Marge was sad, she was sad of her husband's loss, sad that she had her child in a home with a man she didn't truly know, sad she had no other place to go.
John didn't mind them being there. He loved his mother and was bound to help her any way he could. It had come time for him to graduate. He got his engineering degree and went out to celebrate. It wasn't long after that a Gentleman, Mr. Owens, the CEO of a steel company approached him offering him a job as an electrical engineer. John was excited and accepted his offer. He told his mother of the news and the sign-on bonus. He would have enough to have a down payment on a home and get his family back on their feet.
So he bought his mother a home. Cheryl was less than thrilled. She thought he should be focusing more on her and their future.
We end the year with the Death of Amalie. She lived to be 71 years of age. Since the death of her son John Sr., she had been tending to most of the work on the home farm as Warren ran his family's Fishing Business that Emmet had begun so long ago. Delores, his sister, and Eve, his wife, were worried if her death would relapse his newfound sobriety. But for now, only time will tell as they endure this loss.
Will the Legacy live on or will it falter in the coming decade?

1972... Vietnam is almost over so we have some return home. There are age ups, deaths, and another divorce.
Part 1... Aging Up
Cate Johnson turns 50
Jude turns 30. He spends his bday in Vietnam, but he is still angry and upset over Sayuri's Death.
Part 2...
We have some soldiers return from war. But there is one that doesn't.
Dean Lives...
Vinny Doesn't Make it.
Axxl Lives...
Dean returns to Don. He is unsure of how Don will react as he left him with no word and no goodbye. Don was nervous to see him but ultimately very happy that he was back. Dean told him of Vinny's death and what all they had experienced over there. He no longer wanted to hide who he really is after seeing so much hate and death. He just wanted to be with Don and live what was left of their lives together.
They have Vinny's funeral. Many attended and people around the world mourn the semi-famous rockers' life. Dean asked Don if Vinny's Family could stay with them. They set the home up and decorated their rooms for them Dean had to tell Pat and Lisa about him and help them any way he could.
Pat and Lisa moved in. They were a little reluctant but saw Dean's good intentions. Lisa, while sad about losing her father, was excited to live with the famous actors and their stylish home.
Part 3...
Axxl Returns home. He is very happy to be with his family again.
With Axxl's return, Erin visits to enquire after her husband Robert, but Mary tells her there is no word as yet of the missing.
Just as he comes homes there are two unknown visitors. Linda introduces herself and invites them in. They're teenage twins Hillary and Jonathon and they've come looking for James Shelton. Linda tells them he is her brother but she doesn't have his contact but her mother Mary does.
Mary enters the living room and asks why they are looking for her son. With tears in her eyes Hilary explains that they have recently lost their mother and were told that if anything happens to her then to seek out their father. Mary began to cry and hugged the young girl. She called for Connor to let him know they have more grandchildren. Mary told them they would stay the night here and she would take them to him the following day.
Upon arrival in Strangerville, James was living alone in a trailer park. His paranoia had become worse and Mary was even more concerned for him. She took him outside and introduced the twins. James was shocked, he never knew Lavinia had become pregnant and had children. He wasn't sure what to make of it and wasn't in the right mind for taking care of children. Mary told him that she would take care of them but he was to clean up and get his life back together, he has children now.
Part 4...
Cheryl just can't take it anymore. Her jealous anger at John still festers a year later. She invites him out to breakfast to discuss their future. John ensures her he hasn't cheated and never would. But Cheryl doesn't believe him. An argument ensues and the whole restaurant witnesses the ugly mess. John calls for a divorce. Afterwhich, he moves in with his mother. He works mostly shutdowns and is rarely home. He finds this time to move up in his job and just enjoy the travel.
Tim Fuller turns 30.

We see the End of the Vietnam War, thank goodness. But how many more will this war claim?
Historical fact...the United States ended the draft in 1973 so from this point on in the decades challenge the only times Sims have to go to war is if they voluntarily joined the military.

I did not know that. It is also the year the U.S. pulled out of Vietnam after signing the Paris Peace Accords. I'll look up more on the draft. One thing about this challenge is that it has me revisiting history. Some things I remember from school, some things I've learned.

Just a short little update. As 1961 was filled with many changes, 1962 had very little event going on. Which was kinda nice just to sit back and play with the families a bit.
William Johnson turns 50. First of the 2nd gen to become elders.
Mark Damme ages up. Son of Edward and Chiyo, grandson of Frank. They also adopted cattle dog pup Rezy.
Biggest event of the year, our first-gen death roll. Frances Damme McDermott. She is 69 and is lucky to live another year. I am still following the odds die evens live roll, but with google number generator and mccc instead of the cow plant.
Joseph and Jeffery Damme age up. Sons of Arthur and Molly, grandson's to Frank. Edward came by and gifts Frank to make amends on their rocky relationship.

1963...
A bit of a sad year. Though it has big moments in history. Martin Luther King Jr. walk took place in the fight for civil rights and later that year President Kennedy was assassinated.

For the Civil Rights Movement we have Linda Shelton protesting for no sim left behind. Her family supports her choice and in her endeavors she meets Axxl Bertram who introduces her to others in the movement and for the cause.

At the end of 1963 in November the President was assassinated. Lewis was at home still mourning his sister's death.
Next up 1964... getting closer to Vietnam.

What a full year. This family is growing and getting older. The more I play them the more I love.

And Francis lives another year. She is now 72. And Carol gets married to Michael Fox. They had a very lovely wedding. After the wedding, they are expecting their first child.

Peanut has a Death Roll and lives another year. Now 12 years old.
Sayuri ages to 18. She visits her grandfather Frank and after her mother Chiyo takes her out to celebrate. They go into the Urban Cafe in the city where they meet Jude Fraser protesting to eat in the front of the cafe. The two hit it off pretty well and find they have a mutual friend in Linda Shelton.

David Damme becomes a teenager. He is the eldest of Arthur and Molly.
Part 5...
With the war coming ahead, Linda and Axxl Bertram get married. Their wedding took place on a rainy day, but they did not let that ruin the fun. Even her famous uncle Don Johnson came and Axxl was star struck. Her family accepts Axxl and loves to have him join their family. After the wedding, Linda and Axxl are expecting.
Lots of pics in this story year. Next up War. Who will serve, who will not, and who will flee the draft?

Just a curiosity. How many sim-days has a year in your play?
I starred out with 4 sim days being a year. Each day is equal to 3 months. I like the challenge but wish I had more time to play.
I mostly follow the rules from the challenge guide. A couple of things I did different is I use MCCC to age my non heir family members, to kill off my sims instead of using the cow plant but I still do the dice roll odds they die evens they live. I also use it to set relationships for non heir families in extending the family line.
In addition I looked up what the average age of death for someone is when they were born and I have their death roll when they reach that age. I also looked up what the average marriage age for females and males are and have them married, or not pending on their story line, at that age.
Part 1
Charles King becomes a teen. Son of Delores and Heath, grandson of Lewis and Amalie Damme.
Gary Johnson becomes a teen. Son of George and Cate, grandson of Ruth and Paul Johnson.
Part 2
Edward Damme is a full-time soldier and Captain in the army.
Henry Hughes is the husband of Betty Johnson, he is a spy and joins in as pilot.
Volunteers are John Damme Sr.
Mary's sons James and Richard Shelton, others Clifford Kenny, and Curtis Young.
Part 3
Part 4
Kevin Bertram is born. Son to Axxl and Linda. Grandson to Mary and Connor, great-grandson to Ruth and Paul.

Devastated from his brother's death, Frank also passes.
Part 2
James Wellington also turns 18. He attends college and is able to defer enlistment.

Warren is at it again, hanging out at the bars and lounges. Always away from his family.

Mary's triplets become adults. Barbara with her family and Richard and James age up at war. They spent their birthday on recon in a harsh storm. Edward had to make camp due to the bad conditions. They were ambushed and Edward and Richard were taken prisoner while James got away.
Susan Johnson turns 18. She attends college staying with her cousin David Hughes.
Part 6
This post covers 3 years of the Damme Family. There have been many ups and downs and changes all around.
1967 Part 1
Axxl and Linda Bertram's baby, Kevin becomes a toddler.
Axxl protests the war and Civil Rights. The long hot summer of 67 left Axxl very busy. The biggest of these protests was the Detroit Riot of 67 which left thousands injured and arrested and many dead. When Axxl returned home from his arrest he vowed to never leave his kid again.
1967 Part 2
Patricia ages up to 30 and Vinny enlists.
1967 Part 3
Edward Damme and Richard Shelton were captured and taken as POW's.
Curtis Young... enlisted and first to survive and be able to return home. He is a friend of Axxl's and Jude.
Next up was Clifford Kenny. He's the beau of Marie McDermott. He luckily lives and returns home to propose to his love.
James Shelton not only survived being taken as a POW but he has survived the war. He lives and has the unfortunate duty of letting his family know of their loved ones. He is left hardened and paranoid from his venture.
James tells Chiyo of her missing husband Edward.
1967 Part 4
Henry Hughes didn't make it. His plane went down and he died in a fiery crash. James visited Betty to let her know. Their son David was away at school. While he returned home for the funeral they were both left devastated and felt very alone.
One of the biggest loss is our heir John Sr., he died saving another soldier's life in The Battle of Dak. The US suffered near 1800 casualties as they resisted the oncoming forces. James informed both his mother Amalie and his wife Margie.
1967 Part 5
Just after, Axxl got drafted. He blames his involvement in the protests which makes him even more angry over the civil rights treatment and the war.

1968 Part 1... Births and Weddings
Marie marries Clifford Kenny. They move their family to Henford on Badgley. She also becomes expectant of a little one.
John's cousin, Deborah King also aged up to a teen.
History note... This is when the My Lai Massacre occurred. Over 500 innocent people, civilians, were killed and mutilated by US troops. I wanted to note this incident as it plays a big role in support against the war. It was an incident that outraged all and wasn't reported until a year later in 1969. This led to more protests, including Woodstock and it lead to the decreasing of troops in the area.
1968 Part 2
Sayuri was among them as she went into labor. But all the heartache and troubles she had faced, between being disowned by her mother, her father missing, her husband Jude at war, and having to live under the scrutiny of others... she died giving birth to Christopher Fraser. Chiyo, her mother could never forgive herself for letting her daughter go, so much so that she could not bear the sight of her grandchild. The loss of her daughter and her husband missing was more than she could take on. Christopher went to live with his granduncle Arthur Damme and his family. Art's family took him in with all love and care. They write to Jude and hope he gets their letters and hopes he finds peace in all this hate.
Teresa Damme becomes a teen. Warren moves his family back n with his mother since the loss of his brother and his nephew off to college.
1967 Part 3...
We end 67 with the wedding of Susan Johnson and Timothy Fuller. Susan also graduates from college with a two-year degree. They move into Oasis Springs and become expectant.
1969 Part 1...
Twins Karen and Kathy become teens. They're the love children of Virginia Johnson and Bucky Barns.
1969 Part 2...
Mark Damme becomes a teen. He's the son of Edward and Chiyo and brother to Sayuri. He often visits his nephew Chris and hopes that when his father returns, his mom will feel better and the family will become whole again.
Axxl Bertram ages to 30 while deployed. He misses his family and counts the days till he can go home.
Margie meets and falls for Bobby Bonehilda. They get marroed in a quickie wedding and move to Newcrest. Teresa isn't fond of him and finds his home creepy. He has a room where no one is allowed to enter. She often talks to her brother John, who has also found a special someone.
1969 Part 3...
Twins Joeseph and Jeffery Damme become teens.
Marie and Clifford Kenny welcome baby Jennifer Kenny to the family.
Woodstock... that's all I'm saying.
1969 Part 4...
David Damme ages to 18. He's drafted but after Woodstock, he doesn't want to go. He and Michael Shelton dodge the draft and head out of country.
1969 Part 5...
David, James and John spend time wooing their girls and prepping for the future.

Geeorge Johnson, Gary's father takes in a stray cat. He names her Hezley.
Charles King also turns 18, but he got drafted and will join others in the Vietnam War.
Porkchop becomes an Elder. He is the pup that Anna got for Michael Wellington who is currently fighting in Vietnam.
Part 2... More Birthdays.... and we lose a long-time companion.
Michael Fox and Dottie age up. Mike turns 30 while Dottie becomes a toddler. Frances also had a Death Roll but is fortunate to live yet another year. She is now 77 years old and the last of the first-gen children.
Sadly we have the Death of Peanut. The well-loved and long-lived companion of Delores King.
Part 3... Sophia turns 50 and her son James gets married. But James isn't the only one to take that leap.
The Wedding of James Wellington and Helena Berker. They marry as his parents and grandparents did before him, in the Chalet Gardens. Naturally, everyone was invited and had a great time. Had such a great time in fact that it lasted into the following day.
The Romance Festival came about and I couldn't resist. David Hughes and Bridgitte decided to marry, bringing their wedding party up a day early to enjoy the festive occasion.
And in the heat of their moment... John Damme and Cheryl join in on all the love nuptials.
Part 4... Trouble in the waters.
Teresa has now lived in the creepy house with the secretive Mr. Bonehilda. She grows short-tempered and non-compliant to house rules. She and Bobby argue so much so that Marge has even joined in on the tension between them. She asks Bobby to be considerate of her teenage daughter, she did lose her father and has moved her entire life. Bobby dismisses her, it's his home his rules. But Teresa is determined to find out what he is hiding.
Teresa confides in her brother and often seeks his advice. He talks with his mother about it, but mostly just wants them to be happy and see what he can do to fix things.
After finally getting a break and finishing the year up at school, John takes his newly wife out and about. But she gets highly jealous of the waitress who was serving them drinks. Thinking there was more to John's conversation with the very young lady than ordering drinks. So young in fact she wonders if she's even old enough to be in a pub. They argue full-on green-eyed monster for all to see. The young girl is dismissed from the bar by the owner as Cheryl is a patron to his establishment. John gets so frustrated with Cher who has just caused the girl to lose her job, he questions rather or not it was a good idea marrying her. But she had never acted that way before.
Well, we have finally made it to the 1970s. So much more drama to ensue.

Part 1... Birthday, Age Up, Birthday
Next up Cynthia Fox becomes a child. (The age range I am using is newborn for 1.5 years, Toddler is 1.5 to 5 years of age, Child is 6 to 12 Years of age. Teen is 13 to 17 years of age, Young Adult is 18 to 29, Adult is 30 to 49, and Elder is 50 to their death rate age). She is the grandchild of Dorothy Rogers and great-grandchild of Francis.
Jennifer Kenny ages up to toddler. She is the granddaughter of Robert McDermott and great-grandaughter of Francis.
Part 2... Age up, Age up, Adoption, Birth
Kim Fuller becomes a toddler. Daughter to Susan and granddaughter to George Johnson. She is the great-grandaughter of Ruth.
Amalie has a talk with Warren about his drinking. With his son away at war, he has his wife and this family to tend to and can't be wasting his family legacy away in a bottle. Warren promises to quit and adopts a puppy to fill the void. He names her Fae and she is a Retriever. Having her and taking care of his mother gives him a sense of purpose again.
Michelle Hughes is born. Maybe they were pregnant before getting married, but who cares about that kind of thing in the 1970s. She is the granddaughter of Betty and Henry Hughes.
Part 3... Age ups and Birth.
This cutie turns 6. Love this little guy. He is so curious and cheerful all the time. Mary sure has some amazing grandchildren. Here is Kevin Bertram and Family.
The Wellington Family is proud to announce the birth of Brian Wellington. He is the grandson of Ernest and Sophia and great-grandson to the lately departed Anna Wellington.
Part 4... The Divorce.
Bobby even got so frustrated with her prying that he became so paranoid that he lashed his behavior out on Marge as well. "Your daughter is out to get me and so are you" he'd tell her. The tension was just getting thicker and thicker.
One day Teresa had gotten home early from school. She discovered Bobby doing some kind of enchantment and doing weird things in the parlor and weird things happening. Finally, Teresa just couldn't stand it anymore. She was breaking into that room. But she would have to wait until dark after he went to bed.
Shock and aww came about her as she entered. She couldn't believe it. The word what a Weirdo came to mind, but as she circled the room skulls, possessed dolls, voodoo, and all sorts of evil were in that room.
She would have to wait till morning to tell and show her mother. But she could never get her mother alone so she confronted them straight on. Bobby smirked off her accusations and was angry she went into his private dwelling. Marge tried to smooth things over and calm Teresa down when she noticed that Bobby had snuck out of the room.
She confronted him right at the door demanding to see what he had in there. With frustration and ill content, he obliged her. Shock and fear came over her face. She couldn't believe it. Why did he have these things, what was he into? He confessed that he was in a cult of witches and they collect what is thought to be possessed items. Marge was furious. He had her and her child in a home where crazed rituals and hexing was taken place. Marge was a big believer in the spiritual world and she did not believe in messing with it. She left him and got divorced as soon as she could.
Part 5... Moving and a Beloved Death.
Marge and Teresa didn't stay much in the house, they were always out and about trying to stay out of the way. But Marge was sad, she was sad of her husband's loss, sad that she had her child in a home with a man she didn't truly know, sad she had no other place to go.
John didn't mind them being there. He loved his mother and was bound to help her any way he could. It had come time for him to graduate. He got his engineering degree and went out to celebrate. It wasn't long after that a Gentleman, Mr. Owens, the CEO of a steel company approached him offering him a job as an electrical engineer. John was excited and accepted his offer. He told his mother of the news and the sign-on bonus. He would have enough to have a down payment on a home and get his family back on their feet.
So he bought his mother a home. Cheryl was less than thrilled. She thought he should be focusing more on her and their future.
We end the year with the Death of Amalie. She lived to be 71 years of age. Since the death of her son John Sr., she had been tending to most of the work on the home farm as Warren ran his family's Fishing Business that Emmet had begun so long ago. Delores, his sister, and Eve, his wife, were worried if her death would relapse his newfound sobriety. But for now, only time will tell as they endure this loss.
Will the Legacy live on or will it falter in the coming decade?

Part 1... Aging Up
Jude turns 30. He spends his bday in Vietnam, but he is still angry and upset over Sayuri's Death.
Part 2...
Dean Lives...
Vinny Doesn't Make it.
Axxl Lives...
Dean returns to Don. He is unsure of how Don will react as he left him with no word and no goodbye. Don was nervous to see him but ultimately very happy that he was back. Dean told him of Vinny's death and what all they had experienced over there. He no longer wanted to hide who he really is after seeing so much hate and death. He just wanted to be with Don and live what was left of their lives together.
They have Vinny's funeral. Many attended and people around the world mourn the semi-famous rockers' life. Dean asked Don if Vinny's Family could stay with them. They set the home up and decorated their rooms for them Dean had to tell Pat and Lisa about him and help them any way he could.
Pat and Lisa moved in. They were a little reluctant but saw Dean's good intentions. Lisa, while sad about losing her father, was excited to live with the famous actors and their stylish home.
Part 3...
With Axxl's return, Erin visits to enquire after her husband Robert, but Mary tells her there is no word as yet of the missing.
Just as he comes homes there are two unknown visitors. Linda introduces herself and invites them in. They're teenage twins Hillary and Jonathon and they've come looking for James Shelton. Linda tells them he is her brother but she doesn't have his contact but her mother Mary does.
Mary enters the living room and asks why they are looking for her son. With tears in her eyes Hilary explains that they have recently lost their mother and were told that if anything happens to her then to seek out their father. Mary began to cry and hugged the young girl. She called for Connor to let him know they have more grandchildren. Mary told them they would stay the night here and she would take them to him the following day.
Upon arrival in Strangerville, James was living alone in a trailer park. His paranoia had become worse and Mary was even more concerned for him. She took him outside and introduced the twins. James was shocked, he never knew Lavinia had become pregnant and had children. He wasn't sure what to make of it and wasn't in the right mind for taking care of children. Mary told him that she would take care of them but he was to clean up and get his life back together, he has children now.

I did not know that. It is also the year the U.S. pulled out of Vietnam after signing the Paris Peace Accords. I'll look up more on the draft. One thing about this challenge is that it has me revisiting history. Some things I remember from school, some things I've learned.
