Didn’t the sims team make a statement that sims 4 was going to be around for a long time ? So why would we think sims 5 is coming now? Also, if it does I really hope it’s not online/multi player . It would just become a dating simulator

Yes, they said they plan for it to last for more years. Maybe 3 more years or something? sims 5 can still be in development, tho.

I think they did say that a while back so if it was a year ago and the game has 2 more years left then 2022 or 23 could be when the Sims 5 will come.
Where's my Sims 5 squad at?

I looked for the tweet i am talking about that one of the gurus made and it did not specify how many years left, but i personally feel like it wont be more than 3-4 years. another half decade sounds too much to me but they are unpredictable.

Maxis used to be a lot more disciplined with their game development schedules. But the Maxis we have now is not the same Maxis back then. I miss old Maxis so much! :'(

I just hope there's at least one year between the release of the last Sims 4 pack and Sims 5 release. Into The Future was released October 2013 and Sims 4 was released a year later in September 2014. That gave me time to try some features I'd never gotten around to. Although to be honest I left so much undone because of all the focus and speculation surrounding Sims 4. Probably will be the same next time around. 😄

@simgirl1010 I’d be happy with a year’s release turn around time too. There’s so much I still need to do in TS4.

You can play both. I'm going to keep playing TS3 when TS5 releases its basegame and for its first upcoming packs until it is filled out more. We'll also have Paralives and Paradox Tectonic's game. I won't be buying any other type of game genre in that case as I won't have as much time for them anymore (well, except for Cyberpunk 2077). Such a great time for the life sim genre!

That's what I thought when TS4 released. 😄 As much as I love TS3 I didn't have the time to devote to both versions.

I will continue to play sims 4. Not sure when i would stop. Probably wouldnt. I have spent too much and not explored enough at alllllll....to do that anytime soon :D Even after Sims 5.

I play all Sims games in rotation except for the Sims 1 which I don't own anymore.
And I also play other games too.
I just think my sims 4 sessions are a bit shorter because I get bored easily. Probably why I have time for the other games too.

What other games do you play?

Before, it was just The Sims games and point and click adventure games mostly. TS4 is why I ended up playing other genres besides those. I didn't want to be dependent on it and The Sims series (should TS3 ever stop running on newer Windows versions, God forbid) so I tried out other genres. It turns out that I love first and third person shooters a whole lot and open world action adventure games in general, so I have that game to thank for that.

I can still lose myself in hours of playing TS3 though, I love it so much! Can't wait to get back home and buy another computer so I can play it again.

I play a lot of different stuff, specifically I really like RPGs life Final Fantasy. I have played a lot of those games. Also my gaming guilty pleasure is games based off of series and movies like that Spongebob remaster, Garfield or another favorite of mine are Asterix and Obelix XXL games.
And one game I would totally recommend (also pretty cheap on steam) is Kitty Powers' Matchmaker. It's hilarious.
I have played a lot of open-world action adventure games, at least I used to on my PS3.

As for The Sims 2 and 3 I agree I can spend hours playing those games, I cannot explain how or why but seriously I really lost track of time. And thank god The Sims 3 runs really well on my computer (and any modern computer really since they gave it that 4gb patch)
As for the Sims 5 I hope that it really is coming soon. I don't know what to think anymore after that recent SimGuruNinja interview. But I hope it's coming quickly.

TBH, I have no hopes for Sims 5 being any good when Sims 4 continues being so lacklustre and lame this many years into it's release. Unless they fire this team, the content and the attitude of the developers and Gurus is going to be the same in the next game.

I imagine it'll be a slightly improved version of TS4 (We'll probably have an open world + a colour wheel) but still a step down from TS2/TS3.

At this point, I'd rather invest in Paralives than TS5

There are now THREE competitors entering the mix. Maybe that will light a fire under EAxis' feet and motivate them to do better like they did with the previous iterations.

I wish they'd announce TS5 allready and start talking about its features but I'm worried about this team too. I really hope they hired new ideas people that will get it right.

The latest entry into the life simulation genre is being made with the Unreal Engine 4. I really do like UE4 a lot. I'm speculating that TS5 will use this engine as well. I like how the new entry is implementing it so far but if EAxis is using it too, I'd like to know how they're setting it up also.

Even if EAxis is not using UE4, I just wish they'd start talking about what features TS5 will have already!

With the way S4 is built, it could easily last until 2024 at least. As for a S5 announcement, my guess is either in late 2022 or 2023 for a 2025 release date.

A good game engine can last a couple of decades before finally giving out. Sims 4's game engine is already starting to die, and won't be able to last until 2024. It may keep going until early 2021 or it may finally break sooner than that.

Sims 4 has been around for 6 years now,and soon it will be time to move on to Sims 5.

Well, they just started to make experimental packs so I'm not expecting them to stop next year.

It might be in development but god only knows when it's going to be announced if when.

I expect the producers are working on packs which were put back until they got rid of the Legacy gamers with 32bit machines. It was all planned out long ago and I bet all the things we want in the game are being put in slowly on purpose to keep us buying packs, bunkbeds and all..........

If it really is Sims 5 being planned. It doesn't look as if they are advertising for enough staff - unless several of the present crew are working on it. Many of them aren't posting current stuff anymore or off socialising on Twitter etc . I wonder which ones might have gone "over?"

I hope SimGuruGraham has gone over. He's my favorite! And I also hope the one who managed The Sims 3 Store had gone over too - @LeGardePourpre mentioned who it was once but I had forgotten. Also hoping for the SimGuru for TS3's Generations EP!

I'm depressed each time I think about them, I miss SimGuruCopeland and the Maxis Salt Lake City team.
SimGuruPopcorn came from the Salt Lake City team, so maybe he will rejoin later. I miss SimGuruDaniel. He was really nice and got caught in the major Redwood layoff. But I don't think in his case he will be returning.

Well, it’s only a shame for those who do not enjoy or have never enjoyed the game and therefore feel they wasted their money.

Even for those who do enjoy the game but insist in buying every pack out there it's going to be hard after having spent a fortune. This is the first time there are soooooo many packs people are getting very attached.
With the Sims 3 we got a lot of packs but there was a healthier feeling of being attached and ready to move on.

This time around it's a fortune in extra content people refuse to separate themselves from.
Totally. I think it will be the hardest for people to move on too.

I remember somewhere vaguely that when Paradox Tectonic was being formed it was said that some of the talent from TS2 and TS3 were recruited along with (and by) Rod Humble. Maybe SimGuruDaniel got hired by them. And if SimGuruCopeland doesn't get rehired, that Paradox Tectonic will take him. I really did and still love the Sims 3 Store with the types of items sold and their great quality!

You think? What I actually think is if TS5 is great with an amazing, powerful basegame and packed full of content that should be there at the start, it would be really hard for them NOT to buy this game, especially when everyone else is enjoying it and they're sitting there stuck with buggy and lacklustered TS4.
