Not So Charmed «12...Next Go

I'll be writing a story based on the Charm family, because I've got a real fascination with them. Hopefully everything goes okay with this, but Chapter 1 should be up soon!

The story starts with Darrel, Emilia, and their three kids already living in another house in Glimmerbrook - but the expectations the family has weigh heavy on everyone. Minerva, the matriarch, is determined to preserve tradition and bloodline.

Chapter 1: The Start of Things

Emilia is having a tough time as a daughter-in-law.

Sounds like half the family is having a tough time! What a great chapter!

I love how Darrel is so supportive of Maranda, even though she wasn't born a spellcaster. That would have to be a big bummer. Rhea sounds like a good friend. Chanel probably doesn't feel very special.

I really wonder what else was bothering Emilia? Even Rhea could taste it in the macaroni. (I love how perceptive she is!)

Maranda is a spellcaster! However, because she takes after Emilia, her grandmother isn't fond of her...But Emilia and Darrel love her. Rhea's very perceptive and I look forward to writing her more.

Chapter 2: In the Blood

Minerva laments how things turned out, and Gemma takes out her frustration with magic.

Aw, poor Gemma! I hope she doesn't feel too discouraged - I know she can master it if she puts her mind to it!
This isn't really related, but I thought I'd share some of my Charm kids.

Chapter 3 - A Perfect Day

Emilia takes the kids to the flea market!

Oh my goodness! What a great chapter!

I feel so bad for Emilia. I have a relative who's kinda like Minerva, always subtly putting people down. "How often do you bring the kids here? Some of the crystals are overpriced," definitely means "You have no idea what you're doing. Why don't you do things my way?" That sort of thing just destroys your confidence.

Emilia really seems to like the sunshine. It's a shame that it's always so rainy in Glimmerbrook. Maybe Emilia could do with a family vacation to Sulani or Selvadorada? If she and Darrel can afford it, that is.

It would be nice, and they do have the money. Charm family coffers if you know what I'm sayin'... But yeah, that's what Emilia has been dealing with. And no one's really noticed aside from Gemma. Yet.

Chapter 4: Storm on the Horizon

An unexpected event looms.

I like Marcus's musings. One can argue that he's developing a crush. On the other hand depending on his age, he might be entering the phase where gender stereotypes start influencing him. (Sigh what a dumb phase). But storywise his exploration about what's 'normal' for a guy and girl relationship is fun to follow.

Darrel could've picked more comforting words than 'I don't know'. Especially when he knows Emilia has been bawling her eyes out. Least there's honesty.

It's amazing that Maranda knew about the baby before Emilia did. I can't wait to see who the next one takes after.

I knew it! She was not the nicest person, but she will be missed.
I love how determined little Chanel is. It's great to have an emotional outlet. I just hope she doesn't go to the dark side. (If there is one in your universe! )
