CPS takes drowning kid away...

So I had 2 sim children drown in a row when I wasn't paying attention. Grim reaper shows up for both, and while their dead bodies are floating in the pool I get a notification that they were adopted by a new family due to neglect (I have a cheat for that). Urns are placed on the lot as though they are dead, everyone is crying from witnessing their deaths, but they are completely deleted from the family tree and they are not in fact in their graves. In fact, one of them come and cry about his brother dying a few second later.

I thought kids could die from drowning right? I know they are limited but this was just weird.

It's entirely possible that the mod you're using messed with it.
