From sims 4: * Calendar and ability to plan events * Festivals * After school activities * Spas * Ability to easily transfer funds between households when a sim moves out * Bikes * Camera following your sims when they are jogging, that would require a semi-open neighborhood as in sims 4 though * Multitasking
Sims 1:
the music
that big 6 title clunky table
the isometric camera view, and how the sims were the things rendered only 3d
color scheme. it's aged so beautifully.
how you actually had to space things out in your house to keep your sims comfort level content
how truly wacky events in ts1 were - from prank phone calls, to raccoons, to buglars, to random fires, chance cards, to your sim having a tantrum because they didn't want to eat because they were too sad
house rating system
household accounts that break down the expenses
the entirety of makin magic
Sims 3:
home video station / video cameras, smartphones, blogging, online dating
fairies, mermaids, simbots, plumbots, horses, imaginary friends (even if they are a bit creepy)
celebrities & a fame system
visiting neighbors homes and open world in general
all lots are in sync and your moods are still in sync when you go home, in game calendar, active careers
body hair, tattoos, more outfit slots, color wheel, bottoms are separate from shoes
adjustable lifespan and autonomy, lifetime rewards
more skills (which seem harder to master), buying books
desks/tables have more than 2 slot tiles for objects and clutter objects
cows, chicks, chickens, deer, raccoons, etc
social groups, festivals
after school clubs, proms, treehouses, prom, highschool graduation, teens/kids pulling pranks
favorite food, music, and colour
in-game lighting, sunrise and sunsets
attending university more than once (correct me if i'm wrong about this! i've only sent my sims to uni once )
personality isn't associated/linked to your zodiac sign (I'm a bit of an astrology nerd and it irks me to no end on how nothing is based on actual astrology, and it's just all sun sign stereotypes.)
Sims 4:
search bar in build/buy mode
mulitasking
all clothes can be worn by any gender
more gender and sexuality diversity
toddlers
Admittedly, I haven't really played The Sims 4 so that's all I have to go off of.
Both TS3 TS$:
you can have more than one saved game at a time
travelling to other sims homes
more to do with vampires
lot imposters
My love, my love, my fearless love, I will not say goodbye..
Sea may rise, sky may fall, My love will never die..
My heart, my heart, My drowning heart, Oh all the tears I've cried
Oh I may weep forevermore, My love will never die..
Aspects of the Sims 3 and 4 I wish were in The Sims 2.
Sims 3
Choosing a voice type for your sim in create-a-sim; also available in the Sims 4.
Shoes being separate from bottoms and outfits.
Name randomizer; sometimes, it's hard to come up with names and a name randomizer is a useful tool.
Tweaking the amount of days for each lifespan within the game settings.
Sims 4
I also love the newest feature of choosing a sims sexuality and whoohoo preferences right from the get-go; if only the Sims 2 had this.
I love how same sex couples can have biological children without mods in the Sims 4; whereas, in the Sims 2, same sex couples can only adopt, or one of them can get impregnated when they get abducted by aliens.
