A new tweet this morning has confirmed that there are still years left for Sims 4:

Rejoice or bemoan as you will. :)

Sounds great. Content may be coming slower than normal due to CoViD 19, but that's fine with me.

Yes, I expect there will be some stutters in the pacing, but the way people are struggling with finances and life changes right now, it's just as well. The devs have remained very active on Twitter, so at least we still have a good flow of contact.

That's also true. Disposable income is in short supply for the foreseeable future.

I just hope they weren't working on some kind of end of the world apocalyptic disaster type of pack because that wouldn't be something I'd be interested in right now.

.....-sighs- I really want them to move on..this GAME has ran it's course...I am so beyond bored and tired of it.

That's great for me. I wonder what ep's we will get in the future, since the big 3 have already been released.

I have hope that now that the most requested packs (pets, seasons and university) have finally been released we get some more exciting stuff. My biggest wishes right now are time travel, amusement parks and casinos.

I'm in the midst of a consecutive play through of Fallout-Fallout 2-Fallout New Vegas right now and I have to say that it's been strangely therapeutic in the current circumstances.

They do like to exaggerate. "Years" can literally mean two years. That would mean maybe 2 EPs, 4 GPs, and maybe 6-8 SPs.

True, it could mean two years. It could also mean three or four. We won't really know until things unfold. But I personally think that means the game will be going right into 2022.

It very well could be 4 years seeing as they upgraded to 64bit not too long ago. They are either forcing the community to prepare for TS5 or they simply reconsidered their timelines and decided to extend the life of TS4 beyond what they initially planned.

I mean, they just rebranded last year, and a company wouldn't do that unless they planned to be around for a while. But the devs have been saying since the early years of Sims 4 that it was built to last longer and was always intended to have a longer lifespan than previous games.

That's a yay for me. I really want to see this game reach it's full potential. And there is so much family stuff, occult stuff, life states, just overall stuff we're missing!! And I'm not ready to move on.
Zombies, oh please oh please give us zombies!! :'(

Since I didn't start playing until this past May, I'm happy with at least two years before I need to think about investing in a new game.

I've red somewhere that they still have 3 'never done before' ideas for packs, which will at least prolong TS4 for as much at the very least. I give them the benefit of the doubt on these, but I think I will drink champagne when they'll tell us this game is over.

    Ugh, i want it over
The Sims has currently lost its identity. Bring it back for TS5

TS4 is the best selling TS game of all, so I would think we've got quite a while left in it.

Would it have been IF they didn't put it on sale so many times?

Great point. I'm really not sure, but I can't argue against your question, being I'm here because of the sales and haven't made a purchase once they went back to full price. So, according to my personal experience, yes, the sales have been fundamental in the success of TS4's selling number.

Don't forget it was actually even FREE for a time last year, I'm sure the FREE price tag helped.

Also doesn't mean that just because people bought/got it still play it either. My husband got it when it was free so he could try it and he played it exactly once then never again. However, his download still counts towards their purchase numbers to help it be the "best selling" of the franchise.

Personally I'm ready for the next iteration, unless it's online, then I guess I'll just stay here and TS3.

saw that and rejoiced, love this game and i definitely want more new stuff to come along rather than waiting for yet the usual core expansions

I'm happy and sad at the same time. Sims 4 needs much more content, but I'm sad that I have this feeling that the team will never be able to make sims 4 fun and interesting cuz they never listen to us... They have been asking stuff to us, but when i said "listen to us" I said "actively listen to us".
