Slice of Life + CC questions

Forget what I said about waiting to use mods. XD+^^; I think I'm the least decisive person on the planet, or at least I will until I change my mind. But before I start downloading, I want to ask some questions.

First, can the Slice of Life mod be disabled safely in case of a patch?

I’m also considering downloading some CC; specifically:
* Skin replacements (Maxis Match)
* Eye replacements (Also Maxis Match)
* Eyelashes (Preferably compatible with accessories)
* Colourful hair swatches for children and toddlers (why can’t my alien kid have naturally blue hair, EA?)
* Nooboo replacements (Martine’s look pretty cute, but they don’t affect alien nooboos. If I can find some others that do, will they work together?)

Any recommendations?

    To safely disable your Mods:

Open Origin, choose the Origin option from the menu on the top left, under Application scroll down to Client Update and you can disable automatic updates. This will allow you to continue playing the game while keeping an eye on the broken/updated thread and manually update your game once your Mods are up to date. @luthienrising usually hosts a wonderful thread for that purpose in the General Mods Discussion section. Do not save your game while your Mods are removed! Maxis disables Mods and CC when they run the patches but, most people prefer to take the extra step and move the Mods Folder to their desktop while running the patch.

*Note* You will need to go into the game and reenable Mods and CC to start using them again after every patch.
*Note 2* Do not save your existing game(s) while your Mods are removed or you will end up with no CC on your sims.

This is a wonderful resource for MM CC:https://maxismatchccworld.tumblr.com/navigation
Please be aware that with skins and eyes (among other things) you have the option of downloading default replacements which will overwrite the game options or Non-Default which will add swatches to the existing game options.

I hope this makes sense! If you have any questions please ask!

I don't play with Slice of Life but, I think KawaiiStacie updates her Mods pretty nearly with every patch, I know if a Mod is not working she removes the download from her website until she has fixed it. Plus, she has a discord if you have questions about how to use the mod: https://discordapp.com/invite/gFbgScV

Thanks! :) I've already picked out several potential skin and eye replacements, as well as some colourful hair.

I do have a few more questions:
    • If the mod gets discontinued (I hope it doesn't, but we don't know how much longer EA will support the game, and it could be a while) and I want to patch my game, what do I do?
    • Will it be safe to remove the mod if it starts glitching or I don't feel like using it anymore? (I want to keep using MCCC, so I don't want to disable all my mods unless I have to.)
    • If my skin replacements stop working and I have to remove them, what will happen to my Sims?

Removing broken Mods won't hurt anything, same with removing CC. Just make sure to empty your cache folders and delete the localthumbcache.package they can hold old animations. Your Sims with CC skins should just go back to having game skins.

If the Mod is discontinued, I suggest deleting it from your game and updating so that you can continue to add new packs.

MCCC is another Mod that updates quite frequently, so it may be best to disable it when patching. You can find out more on patch day in their help thread:

Good. The last thing I want in my game is a bunch of disembodied eyeballs floating around. XD

I just went to look at my cache folder so I'll know what to do later on, and it seems to be empty already. Could that have anything to do with the fact that I haven't played for a few days?

I think the cache folder is mainly temporary captures of gallery files, so if you haven't been to the gallery in a while it's probably empty. When it does contain a lot of files, it can gum up the works.
