Hey everyone!

I’m looking to make a big list of mods that add realism to the game so people can come here and discover mods they never knew existed to add some new realism aspects to their gameplay (plus I’m in need of some new mods to use haha) I’ll list a few I have already and if anybody has any more suggestions please do share.

Kawaii Stacie - Slice of Life

Adds so much realism to the game, allowing physical changes to your sims as well as new buffs and additional features. Sims can get acne which you must treat with skin routines. Sims can have talents which will enable them to be better at certain things. An improved social media feature is implemented within this mod. There is so much to even list so it would be a good idea to check out this mod on Kawaii Stacies website.

Kawaii Stacie - Explorer mod

Explorer mod gives your sims many more options for something to do. A new menu when clicking on your sim will enable them to explore numerous rabbit hole activities. Sims can gamble giving them the chance to win or lose money. Sims can go shopping, on vacation, earn money with small side jobs, visit attractions, go purchase takeout food, go to events and many other things..some with a small fee of course.

SrslySim - Cooking Overhaul

This mod is AMAZING. Do we miss shopping for groceries? of course we do, well sometimes. This mod allows you to shop for groceries and grants a little more realism to the game in that aspect. Not only this, you can purchase groceries in packs so for example..rather than purchasing 6 singular eggs, you can purchase a pack of 6 eggs which grants some discount as oppose to purchasing 6 singular eggs. Same rule applies, a roll of cheese, a loaf of bread, packs of meat.. and so much more! The mod also allows you to purchase quick meals.. a box of cereal, singular microwavable meals. Its just great for simmers that want to add a little more realism plus difficulty to the game as its fun to allow your sims to only cook meals if they have the right ingredients.

LittlemsSam - Social Activities

A menu added to your sims phone to give them more activities to do. You can do social activities such as visiting family, friends, acquaintances or go on a date. Other activities will allow you to choose an activity for your sims to go do such as hiking, book club, a concert and more..and whilst your sims are away they will increase relationships, gain skills and increase needs.

LittleMsSam - Spend Weekend With
Send your sims away for the weekend (or weekday) without having to control them. Great for divorced parent storylines where your sim may send the child away to stay with their mum or dad for the weekend.

Kawaii Stacie - Life Decider

Allows you to generate a life for your sim or NPC sims you meet. Its great to use on NPC sims as it is tiring to meet sims with no background or personality. Clicking 'Decide Sims Life' will grant them a starting career and career level, some skills and some relationships.

Kawaii Stacie - Better Schools and Pre Schools

LittleMsSam - Simsda Dating App
Allow your sims to find the love of their life using their smartphone to meet someone. Choose a sim to go on a date with via the new option in your sims smartphone. You can choose the sim you go on a date with or you can choose blind date.

LittleMsSam - Online Learning Centre

Learn skills by using the online learning centre on your sims computer or smartphone.

LittleMsSam - Ultrasound

When your sim is pregnant, they can visit a Gynecologist in their third trimester and find out the gender of their baby.

ZERO - Improved Relationships

ZERO - Improved Cheating and Consequences

RoBurky - Meaningful Stories

Sim4Me has a huge list of mods. Here is a link. https://deichschafblog.de/bienchen/
A few of them (there is a lot), A mod to allow toddlers to show up at the parks and beaches. Autonomous mods, meaning your sim does not have to be the one who does the proposing and a few others (yes they are no higher than a T rating). They also have several that fix issues. It is worth taking a look.

I'm going to be glad when sims 4 is over and done so I can mod it to death to fix the abysmal state it is in.

I can't be bothered doing it now with "live service" and having to update mods after every patch every month.

And they better add casinos and cruises, and slow dancing, and fix personalities and traits. And add more vacations. And a couple more worlds.

    ETA...and farming.

I'll be good with that to make this my final sim game.

    It ends for me here.

Funny story. One of the gurus said one of the ideas before they decided on Island Living was a cruise ship. Turns out, it tanked in the focus group.

I agree with all of your suggestions. I always wonder why if the folks who develop these brilliant mods can do it, why can't actual developers put these things in the game?

So did TS1 when Will Wright presented it for evaluation. Focus groups are simply a tool, a sounding board, not the ultimate authority.

On the other hand, everyone thinks they're the majority. Most likely the number of people who actually see Sea Cruises as a "big thing" are less than 5% of players. I have never ever heard of wanting sea cruises before this post, and I have played Sims 4 since release day.

As for farming... what kind? The Farmville kind or actual farming? Because farming is one of the most hard-working required activates you can deal with.
I would be interested in farming only if it was implemented even remotely realistic; where you have to wake up at 4:30 in the morning, spend all day in the fields, have a (large) chance of losing a years (week in the Sims?) income if the weather is too hot / cold / dry or wet. Plus, no cutesy things, but you have to raise pigs or cows and then actually click on them and kill them to sell their meat for money if you want to do more than just wheat or corn.

And then of course during Winter you have 0 income and nothing to do, but still have to pay rent and repair equipment...

Ice mun mun nectar making and jam making mods are great if you have farm.
Little Ms Sam no restaurant bill when invited is super realistic
Life tragedies mod is rather realistic and I love that you can choose to enable or disable for certain saves or certain sims within saves
Though the tool mex mod isn't for realism it is just too useful for editing outside of build mode
Although I dont use the SNB bank mod I've heard it does wonders for realism
Little ms sam more buyable venues is great
Zerbu venue changes and world type changes is very cool, I use it when I want my family to vacation in Sulani
Kawaiistacie better schools and preschool mod is a must have
Obviously MCCC is a savior in this game
There are so many other mods that I use but am blanking on, I'll try to come back and add more. I love this idea!

Actually I have discussed cruise ships with a Simmer about a month ago. I even shared ideas on activities that are on modern cruise ships these days. Sims has never had cruise ship activities before. It was only used as a loading screen in the Sims Vacation.

Anyways to keep on topic some mods to give more realistic emotions and lifestyle. I don't know if they work with the latest patch:

The cupcake machine is huge and not realistic for homes.

Bake Cupcake Machine Items in Oven at Mod The Sims

It also moves cakes into the bake NOT cook.

2 mod versions with or without ingredients : only need one.

Sacraficial’s Life’s Tragedies is great for adding in a whole bunch of random events, some even deadly, to the game. My sim was throwing a new years eve party when an armed robber came and everyone freaked out.

LittleMissSam has a mod called “more away actions,” this is useful for inactive sims, you can get them to do plenty more things compared to the standard set of away actions. She also has a mod called “More Holiday Icons,” this adds plenty more holiday icons.

Zurbu has two mods I really like, “More Club Icons,” which adds more club icons, and the “Simology Mod Pack,” this adds the ability to select what actions have what effect on your sims, for example I can set it so my sim gets bored when they play video games, or get angry when working out, etc.

Weerbesu has two mods I like to use, “Improved Autonomy during Loading Screens,” and “No Empty Venues,” this makes loading into a public lot a lot more interesting as sims will be loaded in already doing things as opposed to just standing at the front of the lot.

TwistedMexi TOOL mod is great for adding objects into the worlds themselves. I like to add the Get Together bushes into the base game worlds so my cats and dogs have areas to explore. I also like to use it to add swings and such to parks in the world, it’s great for whatever else you see fit to add into the world, like basket ball nets, toddler playground equipment, extra decor, etc.

NoelleBelleFluer has base game work from home mods, I like the work from home option, so this adds it to base game careers, the criminal one is broken though, but every other one seems to work just fine.

I know its a lot, I’m kind of obsessed with mods, they really are a game changer.

My biggest hesitation about Meaningful stories is actually due to some of how Sims 4 handles things like sadness over deaths. For example, my sim may have an uncle or a grandparent that she never met (due to the way gameplay went.) as it stands now, even if she has no relationship with that sim, when they die, they get a 2 day sad moodlet. I don't like my sims mourning for 2 days, let alone a week or more, for a sim they've never met. But there's nothing to indicate that relationship levels are taken into account, and I hate chat rooms - especially when I'm looking for the answer to what, imo, should be a non-specific to my situation question.

Otherwise it looks really interesting, and might be worth trying out.

I think I need to try the mod. Sims mourning actually makes them feel more human and less like robots, so anything to make them more human is well welcomed to making the Sims feel like a life simulation game again with a dash of danger fantasy. It is what made me first fall in love with the first Sims game is how human they felt with a balanced emotion system instead of having Narcissistic personality disorder. I deal with that enough just watching the news. I'd like to escape that with the Sims and with hanging out with my friends that still act like humans. Plus I was promised smarter and more emotional Sims with the Sims 4 announcement, so if a mod actually makes the game smarter how it was supposed to be, so be it with meaningful stories mod. I just thought I had to use a lot of mods to fix the Sims 3, but Sims 4 broke that record, so thank you modding community for being able to fix a Sims game even more now.

Hmm tbh I haven't noticed this to be out of whack in any way - however, do sims get a sad moodlet for family members dying off lot if you don't have a mod for this? Just wondering as I know that wasn't the case before and now I'm not sure if it's a mod causing this behavior or this part of the game was updated?

Now, what I can say is that when I used only Meaningful Stories & Slife of Life, my sim's daughter was beyond grief when her mother died, her children grieved too but for fewer days and her husband only really grieved for a day or two. So I thought it was actually really realistic. Meaningful Stories mostly make sures emotions don't suddenly jump from high to low to funny to etc. but sorta phase into each other more slowly - also when sims were annoyed for a while, they get 'lingering anger' or 'lingering tension' etc. It's actually quite nice and realistic and never feels too much.

I'd give it a try if I were you :)
