What should we be able to knit?

I didn't know we could send pictures here. If I knew, I would include visual references to my ideas too. But I believe you can easily see them if you google them. Sorry for asking too much ^^

I’d like to see fashionable clothing or something for kids to play with. What I don’t want - ugly sweaters.

Shawls, sweaters, slippers, leg warmers and scarves that would be unlocked in CAS. Probably of limited design because who wants to blow up CAS.

    Decorative items: potholders or placemats?

Not really knitting, but maybe crocheted curtains, rag rugs and wall hangings.

A cozy throw to wrap up in on a cold winter night might be nice, but we already have awkwardly reclining ;) in IL so awkwardly cozy might cause some heads to blow. :#:D

My daughter once knitted her sister a jumpsuit. :open_mouth: But, maybe it would go over better in The Sims.

I'd like to be able to crochet, not just knit, but since it's knitting... here's a serious answer:
Clothes other than just sweats:dresses, skirts, socks, tops.
    Blankets
    Hats
    Scarves
    Gloves
    Doillies
Pillows of different sizes and shapes
Decorative items - snowflakes, pumpkins, bookmarks, toys.
Doll clothes - kids can knit too! Though this means thety'd need actual dolls too, hint, hint.

Blankets, sweaters, slippers, hats (animal and normal).Ppuppets, and voidcritter stuffed animals would be awesome like someone else mentioned.
Another interesting thing could be blankets, hats, and/or clothes for babies. I know my grandmom would always knit a blanket and maybe a hat for me and my cousins. Plus, the sims 4 babies need some love since they're stuck in they're bassinets. haha But seriously just picture your sim's baby wearing a knitted hat while being snuggled with a knitted blanket. IT WOULD BE SO CUTE! <3

also in the name of being ecological it'd be cool if our sims could unravel knits they made before for some yarn
should they not need them anymore and want to knit something else from that yarn

idk how hard that is to implement but just a thought

Sweaters, socks, scarves, hats? Those are the kinds of things I knit.

Beginning knitters often start on projects that are flat, like scarves. Socks are probably the toughest (at least in my opinion).

I learned to knit as an adult and to me it has always been a really relaxing and productive hobby. I have become proficient enough that I can knit while watch TV and you come out of the experience being able to show something for it. It calms me down. It makes me happy. I love being able to give people the items I've made. I love being able to produce something that's made to measure.

I also love that both men and women knit. That soldiers knit. That children are taught knitting in some schools in Europe. That there are millions of people worldwide who knit.

One thing I want to share simply because it cracks me up is "the sweater curse" because it seems like something that would fit the Sims. The theory is that if you knit a sweater for a newer romantic partner that you'll scare the other person off and get dumped.

The whole comment is very nice and I like the ideas but THIS, "the sweater curse", if gifting a romantic interest/boyfriend/girlfried a knitted sweater could get a Sim dumped, that would be EPIC!

Edit: I just have to add to reiterate, this would be such a great gameplay feature, specifically for romantic relationships (unmarried). The chance for a gifted sweater to reduce or completely remove the romance bar. Of course there would also be the chance of not changing the romance bar and raising the friendship bar. You could have a knitting Sim trying to find Mr or Mrs Right by searching for that Sim that will accept their sweater of everlasting love and devotion.

If I just posted an outfit you like, I have good news - there is more where that came from!

Scarves, blankets and beanies! Socks would be cool too, or even mittens!

I agree with so many of the ideas here. Knitting is a really popular here in Norway (scandinavia), and both younger and older generations knit.

I would love some really cute knitted clothes for toddlers and kids. If you google «KLOMPELOMPE», «MEMINI» or «viking of Norway you get tons of great example of amazing knitted children’s clothes. I love rompers and bloomer on toddlers.

Sweaters, hats, socks, gloves, and such would be nice. But, I also would love non CAS items. I've seen a few people suggest knitted stuffed animals or even voidcritters, which sounds fantastic. Throw pillows for chairs and couches, baby/toddler shoes and slippers. Adding scarves as an accessory through this pack would be awesome. Clothing for pets. Along with stuffed animals, there could be dolls or sock monkeys.

Knitting is one of my favourite hobbies!

Having different project ideas to suit different experience levels would be good. So like, scarves and dishcloths would probably be Knitting Level 1.

Other stuff I'd love to see in TS4 would be socks (I <3 making socks!), sweaters, blankets (my sims need different quilt swatches for their beds!), hat, mittens (with cute designs!), and other cozy things. I hope we can make clothing to fit sims off all ages.

I'd also really like to see some knitted stuffed animals. I've made a bunch myself, including dragons, a mouse, an elephant (pattern from the 60s!), tiny cats, and bunnies. It'd be so much fun if our sims could knit a little sheep, stuffed bunny, llama, or some other animal! I've seen so many knitting patterns for stuffed animals, dolls, and even food on Ravelry, a social media site for fibre arts.

I spend a lot of time with fellow knitters too, and one thing that just about everyone knits is also baby stuff. Heck, even I've knit a whole bunch of baby socks (made from leftover yarn from me-sized socks). People like making baby stuff as gifts, I think. I know it'd be a lot for a stuff pack, but being able to knit baby clothes for baby sims (like booties and sweaters) that they could actually wear would be really great.

Sweaters, beanies/hats, scarves, gloves, socks, dresses, slippers, blankets, toys and other decor items for the house! I also don't want all the knittable things in CAS initially - there can be a few items, but the rest you have to unlock through knitting. Toddlers and children NEED more clothing!

It would also be really cute if pets could wear knitted clothing and cats play with yarn.

My grandma knitted all of us oversized stockings to hang during the winter holiday season. It was the only thing she ever knitted.

She did however crochet potholders regularly. Otherwise most of her time was spent sewing as a professional dress maker.

I think clothes would be cool. But also rugs and maybe clothes for our pets. Maybe cross into another pack buy letting pets have knitted clothes

I know I made a joke about it on Twitter to simguru ninja, but that terrifying clown thing I think would be awesome in this pack. A return of the tragic clown. It could come to life sometimes akin to the imaginary friend from ts3 which I saw someone else mention in this thread. Maybe it could wreak some havoc or do sometimes do nice things. I feel like things like clothes and accessories are a given in this pack, so it would be nice to have something a little fun and weird too

The Tragic Clown already pops out of the Tragic Clown painting in the game after you interact with it a few times. ;) I definitely agree that the pack needs something fun/weird in it, though!

Yes, that'd be great too! If a Sim has a low knitting skill their gifted items could be itchy and give an uncomfortable moodlet.

I would love to be able to decorate things like pillows and blankets, especially if they could add comfort levels to things like boosting lower quality beds so that we can use them for their looks. I would also love to be able to knit tablecloths, table runners, rugs, and some things that you don't often see, like knitted lamp shades or jewelry.

I think it would be cool if we could knit sweaters and jackets that we can wear over normal cas clothing as another layer giving is the option to wear that shirt we really like with a jacket over it, also the usual hats and blankets and maybe even a cute baby blanket gift that your babies will fall in love with and keep growing up as a sentimental item.
