We’re really excited that Knitting was the winning theme that was voted on by the community! Now it’s time to start thinking about what you actually want to knit! What kind of things do you expect your Sim to be able to sit down and create? What are your expectations? What would you like to see?
For example, as a kid I fondly remember how my Great Auntie would always knit me & my siblings holiday slippers. Each and every year we would get a new pair. Mine were always blue. Even though she passed away many years ago, this is something that I will associate to her forever and in fact I still have the very last pair of slippers she ever made for me.
So please let us know what is important about knitting to YOU and the kinds of clothing and/or objects you’d want to create with it! This collaborative exercise will greatly help to determine some of the possible options to include in the upcoming asset votes.
Thank you so much for your time and interest and let’s collectively make this the best stuff pack yet!

My grandma used to do the same before she passed away. So I'd really like if that was a possibility, little knitted socks and slipper for toddlers-up.
Most of all I would like if sims could knit clothes, because it's what most people do when they knit. Meaning: sweaters, wool caps, wool slippers, wool socks, leg warmers, wool mittens, fingerless wool mittens, jackets, jumpers, wool ponchos, etc.
Knitting clothes would also be a fun interesting replacement for the fact that sims don't need to buy clothes in TS4. Having to knit to unlock specific clothing items would be interesting.
Now....with clothes, I don't really know how a quality system for the knitted goods would work...I'd really like if there was a quality system like there is for say woodworking or cooking, however I don't think it's feasible to do multiple versions of the same item especially on a SP budget. So maybe no quality system, but perhaps sims with low level in knitting could fail at knitting something and maybe there's an animation to show it plus a notification, or maybe there's a default single item sims will get every time they fail at knitting something.
Moving on, I don't exactly know what the point of knitting would be though, after we unlock all of the clothes, so either the clothes manifest as objects that we can click and select "wear knitted clothes" or something....or..idk.
Knitted clothing pieces should give exclusive moodlets to sims when they are wearing them. Like how the Digital Deluxe hats do. Something like "Knitted with love" or "Comfy clothes". It would be cool if knitted clothes (with poor quality?) could make sims itchy, because we've all been there with certain clothes that make us itch. There's the poison ivy animation from Outdoor Retreat that could easily be recycled to do this and you'd just need a new moodlet.
I think other objects besides clothes would be fun to make and give more longevity to the skill especially if clothing is just a CAS unlock for the whole household (which I kind of hope they are instead "wearable objects" so that we have to make them multiple times). I'd like to also see knitted stuffed animals for toddlers and kids for example or pot holders to decorate the kitchen.
Knitting should also be a way for sims to gain simoleons, by selling the crafted goods in a retail store with GTW or through the inventory. I'd also like if sims have to restock the yarn basket or something, as a way to spend money to make money.
As kid, my mother knitted us sweaters every year, and could include pictures. (now, we're too big apparently.)
With knitting and crocheting, you can do any clothes, really. But most people do baby/toddlers things because they are quick to make.
I don't want to knit clothes that aren't possible to be used. Even if we can have "challenges" like knitting for a baby shower/Sims for all/fundraiser, ect and the result is given away, I want to mainly knit things that can be part of the game.
So, depending on skill, I would thing starters could be indeed scarves. The kind of result in "what could go wrong?" might be having one end larger than the other... making it unwearable.
level 2 : one color raglan sweater, maybe limited to toddlers/kids (smaller= easier), some decoration items ? (like the proposed oven mitts, maybe some washable sponges/wipes, ect)
Level 3: Maybe some baby blanket or table cloth, fanciers scarves, bags. previous sweater is now unlocked for kids too.
Level 4 to 6 : the real fun start with more complicated sweaters, now in adult sizes, cardigans, slippers, basic big bed blanket, basic hats, amigurumi as decoration item (easier with crochet than knitting) maybe some pennants/wall hangings.
Level 7/8 : Same as above, with more complicated patterns. Cushions. Maybe a comfy pajama set. Knitted toys usable by kids. Rugs.
Level 9/10 : I would put gloves around that level, because fingers are a nuisance to make. More complicated toys, more of the previous items with news patterns.
I wouldn't mind at least one item like a sweater that could be made in all sizes from toddler to adult. I find that size increase the difficulty level (more time spend, more chances to make errors)
Yeah, the hand puppet interaction was also a joke interaction in TS1. The puppet looked at bit different, though. It would be such a cute interaction - the more if it could be done towards toddlers/kids also.
It would be so cute if our sims could knit teddies/toys, blankets, booties and clothing for babies/toddlers. I would also love knitted socks, scarves, gloves/mittens, hats and jumpers to keep our sims warm.
Is this going to be more than a knitting pack? Because the description in the poll for the pack theme was arts and crafts with knitting being one of the crafts able to be done. I really hope that there will be more crafts and arts able to be done than just knitting. I know I wouldn't have voted for the pack to be my second choice if I thought it was just knitting. I know that others were excited about various arts and crafts.
I would LOVE to see stuffed animals that kids can actually play with. Maybe even a new animation of toddlers cuddling with it? That would be wonderful.
I've crocheted lots of blankets and stuffed animal for my kids and it's always such a sweet experience to see how much they like it.
Stuff that can be knit: Blankets, hats, sweaters, gloves, socks, pet beds, pet clothes (yes, I know, dangerous ground here) shopping bags, yarn baskets (yes, you can knit baskets to hold your yarn for other knitting projects), stuffed animals (Voidcritters would be great - especially anything that isn't already represented elsewhere), leggings, mowhawk hats, fingerless gloves, wrist bands, headbands, pillow covers, doll clothes, skirts, dresses (though these are better with crochet)
I have no idea how much of that list is actually practical to include, mind you, but it's all stuff I'd love to see.
Making stuffed animals, knitted flowers, knitted jewellery, wreaths and garlands, hats, slippers, sweaters, scarfs, mittens and even things like pet beds and pet toys are among the ideas that popped into my head right away. I think being able to make a mixture of wearables, decorations and functional items like toys would be the absolute best way to go about this and would personally be most enjoyable to me.
I'd say bring back the imaginary friend occult state and have the dolls that become imaginary friends be able to be knitted. Clothing wise, it'd be nice to knit Jerseys, scarfs, socks, gloves & beanies. Blankets, oven mitts, pillows, little woolen coasters and various other little knick knacks would be lovely to be knitted

Nope, it's just knitting. Only one of the possibilities from those options were going to win, the Devs were pretty clear on that. The question in the voting survey that asked you to rate the importance of the themes within the Arts and Crafts pack, was the portion that selected which artsie thing would be the focus of the pack. Apparently, knitting won the number 1 spot on that question in the Arts and Crafts category.
We were never going to get all the options that were listed, those were just some of the ideas that the devs were giving us to choose from.
My grandmother made all of us grandchildren unique blankets for our beds. I think it would be cute to have sims be able to knit "collectable" blankets and other things, and keep them in the inventory to be used at will. Maybe curl up on a couch or nap on a bed with a blanket from your inventory? Also baby clothes and grandma shawls/cardigans are a must for any knitting pack! But I do think they shouldn't be normal clothing items, in that they should be kept in your inventory and clicked on to put on and off. That way a granddaughter can borrow a grandmother's shawl.
I actually taught myself to knit, so Iknow the possibilities. I like to make blankets, onesies, booties, hats, scarves, mittens, sweaters, ponchos, pot holders, toys, and vests. Depending on the stitch almost anything can be knitted and that's what I love about knitting. My aunt knitted me a doll with a blanket when I was 7, something I have never forgot and still have.

They could include a special dresser with a separate inventory, similar to the chest in DU, that can be assigned to specific sims, for sims to store the knitted things they are offered or make!
Knitted toys(for kids and toddlers), sweaters and hats! Maybe even types of wall decorations and cute items to place around. Like knitted llamas and medusos.
My knit ideas, I'm sure some have been said but count these as a vote to others if they have LOL
Ugly Sweaters/Sweater Vests - I don't mean cute ones, I'm talkin 80s dad patterns, birds, unicorns even holiday editions would be awesome. (PLEASE include some for toddlers/children so Nana can make them with love)
Mittens, Beanies, and Scarves - Especially rainbow variants!
Throws and Tapestries - So like decorative blanket for the wall? Not sure how you'd put it on furniture since we can't really add things to couches.
Stuffed animals/Rag Doll! - Also with rainbow variants!
Doilies/Runners - For tables.
Headbands? - I have seen it done for adults and babies.

I love it xD

Like this social interaction from Sims 2, can only be done if handpuppet is in inventory and assigned to Sim
