I'm in another pickle.....

You know those digital picture frames they have in the game? Well, there aren't any pictures in there anymore. Just 'cardboard'.

This has happened before and all I had to do was delete the missingitems thing in DCCache. Then the pictures would reappear. I just tried this trick I learned on this forum to get the pictures back and it didn't work and I just closed out my game.

Help! Is there anyway I can get the pictures in the digital picture frames to reappear?

Thank you in advance....

When you open the digital picture frame like you would to add/remove pictures, are the pictures there?

I have this problem in a save that whenever I load the save, the digital picture frames appear empty, but all I have to do to fix is open the frame, drag and drop the picture on the same place and it will appear. It’s annoying, but I only use these in one save so it’s tolerable.

Yes. I tried taking them out and putting them back in, but still 'cardboard'.

Did you recently 'clean' a save, ? If so they may be gone. :(

Yup. I don't use those picture frames, as all those images clutter up the save files. I clean them out regularly.

You can of course do the cleaning manually and look at each pic whether you want to remove it or not, but that's quite a bit of work.

Bleep it! Yes, I recently clean out a save in order to make more space. But I have backups. Recent, unsaved backups.

If you use the "save cleaner" It states that it will clean out photos and such, it usually asks to backup save and I always say yes to that.Try restoring a backup.

    I need to ask this:

What is the right way to clean up your game? SO I won't lose any more pictures?

If you want to keep certain pictures, you can't use the Save Cleaner program, but you use S3PE to look at every single picture in your file and decide individually whether you want to keep it or delete it. This may take a while. I think it gets easier after the first time, as the pics seem to show up in chronological order, and all the old stuff seems to be further up the list.

Note that cleaning your save is mostly about deleting pictures, many of which you don't want, like all those pics the game collects automatically every time you open CAS.

This is from memory, as I only did the procedure manually on my hometown file once and then decided to just give up on personal pictures or the photography skill. As cleaning the save is kind of necessary to play a save for a longer time, there are some hard decisions to make. I last used S3PE to clean out the TravelDB.package, and I noticed it also had a full copy of the old scrapbook images and all the selfies your sims take during vacation.

A bit more information to provide, if I may. It's versions 2.x of Save Cleaner that do this to in-game photos. Could be mistaken, but I believe v1 does not if you have access to that. Those who are on Patch 1.69 or Steam installs must use Version 1 anyway.

Regardless, there are a couple of ways to safeguard photos and paintings hanging on walls that had live subjects (the ones sims paint from their imaginations are supposed to always be safe). It involves moving the photos and paintings to inventories that cannot be reached, such as copies of lots in Edit Town's bins, before running a cleaning routine. If one plays a single household, this is easy. But for those of us who play rotationally and would have many households worth of pics and photos to protect, I admit it becomes a pain to pass through each household to find and safeguard them all each time.

Not in my jar of pickled herring, I hope! :open_mouth:

Oh, the pictures. Yeah, this is why I never use pics that will be affected by SaveCleaner. When I want a custom painting/photo I take screenshots and clone a fitting frame and change the picture(s) in it.
