Console, University, does editing dorms effects on gameplay?

Do we have to leave the pre made rooms in the dorms alone? Is it going to mess with other dorm students if I replace the beds or other furniture? What about better bathrooms? It's kind of ugly lol.

I edited the dorm but I had to move out my playable sims first so after I edited the dorm my sims enrolled in school and the same sims moved in with them.
It didn't mess anything up.

I noticed that the cost of living in the dorm went up a lot after putting in good beds etc. I found some good info on YouTube about University including grades, editing, etc after posting this. Carlsguide has a channel.
