Well they’ve already stated they have years worth of content left for TS4. What would be the point in hyping up TS5 when they’re not done with this version?
@LeGardePourpre
He says they talk about a 3 year view when they planned things...not that there's 3 years of content left from when this article is released. He also said he had ideas, but that doesn't mean that many of the ideas will make it into Sims 4.
Regarding the "three more years" comment, this was stated as recently as early 2019. EA works in fiscal years, so I believe that content is planned out accordingly. This would mean that when they planned three more years, if it were to begin in the next fiscal year, it would have started in April this year. That means we are still in the first of the three years, which will end in March, 2020. The second year starts in April of 2020 and goes to March of 2021. And so on into 2022. From there, it could go anywhere.
Of course, things can always change. But by now, I'm sure they know if they're creating a Sims 5 or not. They could feasibly announce it in development for the 20th anniversary, but still not have a release date in sight as long as it is in production.

The reason they always talk about the “3 year view” is that they’re on a 3-year rolling plan, meaning that they always plan ahead for the next 3 years. There was 3 years of content planned in 2018 and there was still 3 years of content planned in 2019. Why? As time goes on, more content has been planned.
SimGuruLyndsay said there’s no planned end date for TS4 in June. Because they’re on a 3-year rolling plan, this means TS4 future content is planned to June 2022 at a minimum.

I understand all this. However, what happens to those three year plans, when the new team working on TS5 has finished enough of their product to release it? Does Maxis just keep on releasing TS4 stuff when EA has a new game to announce and release? Because we know the next AAA IP has a different team and a different head of that team. I understand Lyndsay is the GM of Maxis but there is a totally separate team working on the next, big AAA game for Maxis. I doubt EA will let that one stay on hold while they wind down TS4. Would they? Hasn't been so in twenty years. ETA: I'll just add, things don't work the way they used to work. It no longer takes five/six years to build a Sim game. TS4 is proof of that, it was revamped and finished for release within one year and a half. The new game has been hiring and been developed for the past three years that we know of, maybe even before that.

If think that if it is 2020 then it might not be until the end of the year. They might announce it at 11.59PM on New Years eve though in the latest possible time zone, the IDLW time zone just to tease us

It might not even be called TS5, but a different IP with Sims. Not a spin off, but a new direction and to me this makes perfect sense, it can be a different game and still be announced in 2020 and TS4 just chug along forever. It might be called Sim Life. lol

Considering they've said they have planned at LEAST 3 years of Sims 4 content, I don't see it ending any time soon, and I imagine Sims 5 will be shown off maybe once they've finished the last Sims 4 pack, and then 6 months after it ends, we'll get S5, if at all.
I don't think the game or trailer will come out in 2020 but I do think we will have some information on it. The Sims 4 has been going for a long time now (Coming up 6 years) and I do think it's time for the next big release.
I really hope there will be more information on Sims 5, but I am kind of in the camp that we wont hear much until '21 or '22. I really, really hope there are some good hints and leaks though!

The Sims 4 General DiscussionThere's an actual hint to go off of this time though (much like the previous games), but idk if they'll announce it in 2020 though. Maybe 2021.
I mean does "3 years of content" mean nothing ?
In particular when they said it thousand times.

I'm happy to hear this 🤭 you guys are scaring me with all the ts5 threads popping up everywhere.
Will EA make coexist The Sims 4 and The Sims 5 like they do with The Sims FreePlay (2011) and The Sims Mobile (2017) ?
Keep on developing packs for TS4 while TS5 is still empty and young.

It will happen but it doesn't tell when.
Same as "TS5 in 2019" threads, just people torture themselves with these fake news every year.
You're free to hope but creating hundreds of threads about it won't make it be real.
