build mode broken after recent patch

When I place steps outside and try to make them wider it moves all the windows and doors or deletes them. And if I try to move an inside wall, something from an adjoining room (that is nowhere near the wall, eg something on a table) either moves with it or it is deleted. It hasn't happened before the patch.

I have had no problem building. Do you have mods or CC? If you do you could have broken content - as they have to be updated after a patch. I heard some CC will be broken too - especially build mode stuff because there were fixes for some like content (like the stairs they fixed, etc) as well as updates for some of that stuff in the game. But i use no mods or CC - and I had no trouble building my sim a little house to live in at the University including stairs etc.
