So when you enroll into uni and you live alone, do you actually lose your home? I had started collecting things while waiting to hear back for her acceptance and it seems she lost her home? That is really not cool.
I wish I had known they would lose their home tho, I wanted them to attend from uni, was collecting stuff and that should be mentioned that if they attend from uni they lose their home, hope theres one avail when she gets out, I am using MCCC
There is a way to stop MCCC from populating houses. If you set the bedrooms and bathrooms to 0 on the lot information, it will not add a family to it as it will not have any 'beds' for them to sleep in.
Ooh... that's not good! I didn't realize they lose it! My legacy sim just lost her parents on THE night she left for Uni! I wish I'd have known I'd have packed up the tomb stones and stuff in the family inventory before I let her go to school! Ugh.
Silly me...I assumed. I figured it was like Sims 3 where they could have their house back the way it was when they finish uni...
Loving yourself is the most simple and complicated thing you can do for you.
Yeah, I realised this when I was playing with my supernatural students yesterday. As I was struggling with their various commitments, I decided to start again with one human student. She is currently in the last few days of her teen stage, and lives with her single mum so she will always have a home to come back to between terms.

I use one of two options:
Enroll from home.
Move a random sim in as a kind of housekeeper before leaving. One sideeffect is the fact that such a sim might come with some cash and perhaps a decent job. One of my housekeepers happened to be a mad scientist.
I had no idea, but a sim can only have one home, so perhaps it could be expected. Anyway, I'll simply have a random "placeholder sim" join my single sim's home via Manage Households, before leaving for uni. When returning, that random sim will of course be kicked out, LOL.
Fortunately, it's possible to move back home by using split household after you started studying. I was a bit miffed that I suddenly found that I was responsible for a new Sim who already lived in the dorm my Sim moved to. Also, my Sim's wife was less that 24 hours from giving birth. I felt horrible for having made my Sim move away like that - but like you guys, I did not realize. Not until I had to knock on my Sim's own front door to be allowed entry and learned that he couldn't use the locked computer (household only allowed).

I think that is how it works.
