My first university dorm is going to have a medieval/Hogwarts feel to it as well. It will be named Merlin's Keep and will have a tower and a magic room.
It takes advantage of a lot of packs and may test some simmer's computers.
It runs smoothly on mine. It raises housing costs and be prepared to money cheat if a bill arrives in the mail.
The game treats a dorm like it's a house that you own.
1st Floor:
-Foyer
-Dinning Hall
-Library/Study
-Science Lab
-Greenhouse
-West Wing: Arts area
-East Wing: Fitness and Wellness
3rd Floor:
-Sealed magic chamber (sorry, no potion making) Teleport to get inside
-"I solemnly swear I am up to no good" storage room.
-Movie night theater
-Party Lounge
This is my first building for DU. As a supernatural player, I built a dorm for occults. 4 bedrooms and one crypt. I found is better to play with less roomates (for me). The layout is really friendly
Occults Britechester Dorm (university housing) Gallery Link
The Foxbury dorm is focused on Computer Science and Villainry distinguished degrees. It is occults friendly: Foxbury Uni Housing (university housing) Gallery Link
This bar was built to replace Pepper's Pub. There is also an attic for vampires and graffiti fans, and a cauldron for spellcasters: The Corner Bar (bar) Gallery Link
My renovations of Drake and Wyvern dorms are now uploaded.
My intent with these renovations was to make the two dorm unique to each other.
Drake has a darker theme and is designed to support sims pursing a standard degree. It supports science with fun objects.
Wyvern has a lighter theme, supports sims going for a Distinguished degree, and has objects for the arts. Both have 8 beds.
@CK213 this renovation looks great. It comes very close to what I had in mind to build once I get the game. Maybe I will just use yours instead.
I like the two levels and separate bathrooms for boys and girls with distinct color choices. Also including all those skill objects the telescope is nice and practical.
I modified Foxbury Commons slightly. It felt too open and spacious, and did not offer much more than cafeteria and computers. So I added a gym/swimming pool, because students really need access to some fitness activities to get rid of some of the extra wight they gain. And I added a tiny working area for my future Professors...
The pool is to the right, the office/class room to the left. No content was deleted, just moved to the center of the huge room. I mean - if this lot attracted hundreds of sims they could make use of that space, but in my game there will typically be max 10 sims in addition to my active students.
Okay, a few pics from the pool. Note there is also a sauna and 2 shower rooms. NPC students will probably never take a swim, but they do sit on the trim to do homework, so they will walk about in their swim wear. But they are so few, I can live with that.
I think both the pool room and the class room makes for appropriate background, even if they are not busy. It looks like there are activities in this building, yay!
The clasroom and Professor office are both very small, but they are not supposed to be important. I imagine my future Professor go here to work a few hours on days with work from home tasks. Maybe combined with giving a lecture...
Some more pictures and text on my blog, but I guess you got the idea already
I finished my dorm! Welcome to Merlin's Keep, which will be home to my spellcaster students. It's currently affiliated with the Foxbury Institute.
Our first student is James Potter, who is studying Fine Arts. He was impressed by how pretty the keep looks in the snow.
After a quick visit to the downstairs bathroom, the first thing James did was move into his bedroom, known as the Red Room.
The next student to join the dorm is James' brother, Albus, who has been assigned the Green Room
Next is their sister, Lily, who is sharing the Purple room with her cousin, Rose Weasley. The rooms are very similar so I won't show them all. The girls' room is different in that it's the only one with 2 beds, The others are all single occupancy. After the girls we have Hugo Weasley and Scorpius Malfoy and the dorm is now full.
James and Rose are Fine Arts majors, Scorpius and Lily are taking Drama while Albus is a Biology major and Hugo, who wants to be an archaeologist when he graduates, is studying Art History with the Selvadoran Culture elective. All of them are taking 2 credits this term because I don't want to be overwhelmed with 6 students!
I just realised that I forgot to make space for the Presentation boards! It's just my luck that everyone except Hugo has one! Conditions are a little cramped! Scorpius managed to get his board in his bedroom.
James put his board in the hallway!
While everyone else worked on their presentations, Hugo decided to eat a bowl of peas in the Gothic dining room! He's really not dressed for the end of winter.
Scorpius decided to cook fish tacos for everyone (thanks to the mod that let me place the stove!) I just have to remember to click the stove and not the fridge.
I don't seem to have the knack for posting screenshots that show off my rooms properly so I'll quit for the moment.

Oh my, I just realized how many days have passed since I've last been on the forums / played the sims. Between Planet Zoo, having been gifted Death Stranding and Stephen King's The Institute, I feel like a spoiled brat that doesn't get around to anything because of "too much choice" (in case anyone cares, I've devoted most of the last days to reading King's novel and I recommend it to anyone who loves his books xD).
Anywho, LOVELY builds everyone! Reminds me to make some time for SIMMING this weekend and checking out all your lovely builds in-game!!
How are you guys getting such big pictures with the walls up? If I put the walls up I can't see much at all
@Mariefoxprice83 Have you tried using tab to take pictures? It allows you to zoom out quite a bit once you've settled on the right angle! I think that's how they do it, but not sure.

Yeah, I've been trying to remember tab to get rid of the interface bars but I didn't know it helped with zooming out.

When UI is gone, use Q and E key to go up or down, and arrows to move back and for etc.

Did anyone recategorize a dorm to residential yet? I think it would be cool turning one of the Foxbury towers into a apartment complex with one section for my Professor, and perhaps the other sections occupied by NPCs. I want to see more of University administrators etc, perhaps descendants of Felix Psyded... Would there be any restrictions to turn it into residential? Could be a complex of small apartments for richer students, too...

Is this dorm available on the gallery? My first spellcaster is attending uni and I would like to have her live in this dorm.
Here's the Larry's Lagoon Reno. It could surely use even more furnishing and redecorating but at least the building is far less empty now and actually has stuff to do that somewhat fits with the Foxbury style
Whilst still in the middle of a 64x64 DSV mansion for one of my triplets, I took a mini-break from it to rebuild Darkwing House in Britechester (student accom).
UNIVERSITY HOUSING
This lot was designed to replace Darkwing House in Britechester.

NO CC, but please DO remember to enter the MOO cheat before placing this lot.
While working on two residential builds (one of which was a Mount Komo rental), I decided to build new student accommodation in Britechester too.
I wanted it to fit in the modern Foxbury aesthetic, so it features a lot of metals and has industrial elements.
Four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a mini-gym, three lounge areas and a rooftop deck.
For that Mount Komo lot (and quite a few other residential and commercial builds), head on over to my thread.

I am curious to see how regular SIMs and roommates and bills and all that works.

My sims in Drake.
Drake gets long shadows in the evening.
Wyvern gets them in the morning.
The lower level is for studies and skill activities.
The upper level is for recreation, privacy and sleeping.
Dormies will still be pigs.
Scruberoo!
This dormie has some unfortunate CC CosPlay footwear.
Right this way.
We will give her some new sports wear too.
She likes it.
What' cha gonna do now?
Okay, sporty.
