Has anyone else had counters and sofas that "auto jump" up against the wall or is my boat just special? Usually you can push a counter into a wall a little but now it wants to jump up.
Do you have the new pack? I watched a video earlier with a review of the new pack and the reviewer did mention it being very glitchy and I think she showed some brief footage of having problems placing cabinets. I think she was referring to the glitches occurring when her Sim was building as part of the interior design career, but I wonder if it extends to the rest of the game after installing the new pack?? As the reviewer said, hopefully some patches will come through soon to improve things.
I haven't yet bought the new pack but I likely will at some point.
@PriestessDreadful Yes ma'am I do. I'm building on a one high platform over water with Dream home decorator installed. I tried to reproduce the problem on another lot in Sulani and it is not present, alt + "scootch" works as expected.
June Challenge
If you need a starting point, I have uploaded a shell to the gallery for you to use. This is just a guide and can be put on any size lot with any wall and foundation height.
I started out all gung-ho and was going to drastically change the exterior. Then I thought I'd give it a go using basically your shell, exactly as is. I have play-tested it, but the only thing I found was that I didn't have enough room for a bar table in the kitchen. Instead I made a "bar" out of shelves along the wall. The bar stools sit nicely underneath, but I did notice that when I sent my Sim to have a "quick meal" she sat down at the "bar table" to eat, however she held onto her bowl of food, rather than putting it down on the table in front of her.
For photos, I have mostly done one main pic, one spoiler pic for each room. But in some instances I've done whole rooms or sections as spoilers. Art works, as credited in the gallery post, are by @Mbarnet , @holyshmowow , and @seaweed102.

Houseboat Haven Sulani is a lovely houseboat! @PriestessDreadful Very nice rooftop deck with great gym.tiki bar and hot tub areas. The floor rugs are pretty! The tiki lights are very nice lighting. Very furnishing of the interior! The warm and restful wood texture walls and wood textured furnishings are very nice. The bedroom curtains are lovely! Very nice corner nooks in the first bedroom with the clothes and shoes racks and the shelving. The lavender colour of the living room is pretty!
It is a very nice houseboat
That looks great @PriestessBizarre I'm glad the custom bar in the kitchen works well
Well it kind of doesn't. The seats go well underneath it, and my Sim was able to sit there etc. But it seemed she was unable to put her bowl down, she just hung onto it as she ate. I only tried this once though, so it hasn't been thoroughly tested.
Thanks everyone for your feedback. It was great having the top deck for all that extra space and a real "relaxing holiday" feel.

Fantastic choice of a floor plan for summertime and for us to cut our teeth on with the Dream Home Decorator assets. I had fun with the storage, closets and shelves as marked on the plan. Thanks @AlJay !

There really is a lot of the terminology and so on that I still don't even know.

Additional Notes: The Steering room with kitchen in was made with tall half walls and left open leading onto the deck. I managed to cover with roof so I hope its waterproof. The TVs on deck are unbreakable ones as outdoors. The Greenhouse was made with windows on the sides and includes local harvest, the coconut tree is by the bbq.
