Hi Everybody, I have a question.

Today is the release of Realm of Magic but I don't see it on Origin or on EA.
Does anyone know what time the release would take place?
I hope someone can help with that.

Depending on your timezone: 5.30pm UK time, 12.30 EST, 9.30am PST, etc
    Here's a handy countdown: https://simscommunity.info/2019/09/02/countdown-to-the-release-of-the-sims-4-realm-of-magic/

I've seen people having A LOT of issues with the game crashing with RoM.
    Allons-y!

---> Afterlife Game Pack Idea - improved ghosts, cemeteries and funerals, psychics, new skills, new career and more! <---
---> Burglary Stuff Pack Idea - Burglars, alarm systems, and diamonds to steal!<---

I always hate EA clothes, hair and accessories. But YOU put them all together so beautifully that I can see them as being pretty cool! That's the first time I've ever seen the outfits styled to make sense. Love it.

    What about the aspirations?

Here is a little sneak peek

I didn't play much with aspirations so far, sorry.

Thank you everyone for your kind words, the forum is my Sims' place to go and talk about the game and I feel that we don't get enough attention so I like to write my reviews here for people like me that get most of their info via the forum and don't hang out much on Twitter or Youtube.

Thanks @MoonfoxNightcry I am very happy to hear that!

@darrenfroggy Thanks for clearing that up for me. :) Perhaps I was simply hoping pre-mades from past packs wouldn't suddenly be granted the ability to roam about The Realm or have magical abilities assigned to them. But I still don't agree it was a wise move.

It would absolutely make sense if it was only Glimmerbrook-specific townies. But I don't know if the mechanic is there to limit them that way.
It's just weird because I'm guessing they won't be Spellcasters if you grab them from the household management :/

You are correct, I went to check on that after seeing Miko from City Living doing magical stuff like there's no tomorrow back in the realm. She is just a regular sim.
I believe it is a decission based on culling and such issues. They decided to have existing sims spawn in the new lots so the game wouldn't create more random sims just to fill up the Realm. But I think it was a wrong call to make.

Apologies, but I think you are mistaken in this.

I saw Raj Rasoya, Travis Scott and Mortimer Goth practising magic in the Magic HQ...

Here they are in CAS, all are now Spellcasters:

I don't know if it makes a difference where they go or what they do within the realm. Maybe they only become Spellcasters if they use magic, but not if they are just exploring/socialising/shopping.

That would make sense. It's gonna be an interesting thing to test out though. And poses an interesting question about other occults (since we can't technically have hybrids) and showing up in the Realm.

Oooh! Interesting! Thanks for sharing, Miko was still normal but now that you mention it, I am not sure if she was doing magic or just wandering around.

I can understand why we don't have kitchen counters. Kitchen sets are the hardest to make because you have to do all the different configurations of them. Corner pieces, end pieces, etc. But the swatch not matching? This bothers me to NO END thanks to my OCD. I'll have to use them in different rooms :s

@AlbaWaterhouse, @EmmaVane and whoever else already has access to the pack, have any of you tried editing the sages in CAS? If so, do they still retain their sage status? Because the first thing I'm probably going to do when I play the game myself tomorrow is make the practical and mischief sages look more like the trailer counterparts.

    Thanks in advance! :)

Hmm... I think I read that the game Will not Take sims that are favorited, one of your 200 saved sims, so it doesn’t just take anyone. Personally I will test the realm in a extra save and make townie spellcasters for my main save. Then I can port them over and the game has some sims to draw from when it comes to spellcasters.

I went in and changed L. Faba's hairstyle. This marks her as Favourited too (like any edited sim)

    She's still the Mischief Sage

Nothing for kids and toddlers :(

I hope cc makers will convert some of the hairstyles and clothes for them.

So no problem then, good to know. Thank you!

I get the complaints about Sims 4 being too easy but at the same time you don't need to indulge in those behaviors. Like money trees for example, I've never gotten one because it just seems like a less efficient cheat button. The full needs potion that just requires an apple that comes with the pack is another example, never touching it. Or the reward traits that slows need decay to a crawl etc.

At the same time this game pack in particular seems to have certain mechanics to make it more challenging for yourself, I'm thinking about curses like the haunted one (which would be perfect for my eccentric sim) and the ones that make spell casting results more erratic and have you draw more charge. That particular configuration of curses might be difficult to get but it'd make for a more interesting game too.

Sometimes I wonder if the sims 4 is really easy or if I find it easy because I have been playing this game for 20 years now...

Yeah, I went back to sims 2 and WHOOOO BOY. Some aspects were harder but some were easier so it balanced out.

I also forgot how easy it was to farm aspiration points with dates in that game.

There are two new mods out that might of interest. One is for the potions which enables our Sims to make and sell potions. SimGuruNick tweeted this was supposed to be in the game but was left out/overlooked. You can find this mod and a link to it in the General Mods category in luthienrising's thread. There is also a mod to stop assigining the Spellcaster state to every pre-made and NPC that uses the portal to enter The Realm that is also in the thread I mentioned.
