Anyway, I’d like the Coward and Unlucky traits to return.
Edit: some teen only aspirations would be cool too.
I think a shy trait might get easily embarrassed around people. Whereas the loner gets tense around people.
um shy don't equal embrassed its just they can't easily socialize with new people.
I know. I'd consider myself a loner because I prefer being alone rather than being around people, but being around people doesn't make me tense or stress out. I just think getting easily embarrassed would be the best way to convey the shy trait for the game as far as game mechanics go.

Sorry but I would prefer "teacher" being a Rabbit-hole job. I don't want to have to have my (teacher) sim standing infront of a sim classroom for hours just to go home and do grading or preparing for "Tests"
How about giant bug fixes
so my sims don't die for no reason first of all
there is some big amount of nasty bugs to fix since IL released
they can't just keep adding new before they fix genetics
and sims freezing to death for no reason
just as 2 big examples
for next ''big new thing'' though
I want some IL improvements tho
but since u asked for base game ones
Ladder Stairs, Split levels, Spiral Staircases Counters with wood top
Firefighter and Burglar Townie control options
(so I could turn off those random townies and actually see my sims and premade families around)
NPC careers as active/semi active careers for your sim
maid, librarian and repairman come up first in my mind
id also like cleaning skill and making beds back for this purpose
huge cooking overhaul
because at the moment gathering ingredients hardly makes sense
for you can just get everything from fridge without minding ingredients
id like they did something like in ts2
where you could choose 4 ingredients to make a meal of any kind
and it would then result to closest recipes to what you used
or you could browse recipes and make one of those
also you would not be able to make meal if you don't have ingredients for it
(like can't make strawberry cake if you don't have strawberries)
which just made it more meaningful to grow things
obviously would like a tick box too
so people who don't want to be gathering ingredients
could just do the old way
(could also include buying those ingredients)
Improved Off Grid
items to use for it, category as ''furniture style'' to make them easier to find
having to carry water from waterfall or lake or stream or well or something
to use tubs and such
and last but in no way least (probably even most idk why its at end) couple dancing
with various beautiful styles

I really want them to overhaul cooking. It's needed. There's like 5 different types of food quality only (spoiled, poor, normal, excellent and impeccable, last one is reward trait only it's the one that never spoils), which doesn't make sense, and you don't even need good quality ingredients to get excellent quality meals. They should add the putrid/foul, great, pristine/outstanding and perfect qualities.
Not to mention I'd like if they added a full grocery system into the game (one that can work with Get to Work), instead of sims magically having everything on the fridge. I'd like if sims could go to the groceries like in TS2, and get different recipe ingredients like on TS3. They should do a review and a pass on all game recipes (I know there's a lot but still) to include ingredients like eggs, different meat types, milk, cheese, pasta, rice, etc.
They could add an updated version of the register that comes with those full on store carpets that move and they could animate sims paying with their simoleon credit card. It could have the same interactions as a normal register when placed on a GTW retail lot. For the BG it would only work for NPC's.
And sims should also be able to order groceries online through the phone and computer.

Ooh so much nostalgia here!
GROCERY SHOPPING IS FUN!
Regarding traits--just as squeamish isn't the same as cowardly or fearful, so too jealous isn't the same as envious. My sims don't react properly to the Materialist's boasting. Sure, the ones that are empathic & polite (ty Parenthood!) should continue to respond enthusiastically, but the ones that are insensitive & well-mannered really ought to lose a point or two on the relationship scale when they observe such boasting. Fellow materialists should get doubled relationship +s and -s. And Envious sims, if only they'd give that to us, should see quite a drop in their relationship with the boastful one. The current situation, where all sims approve of boasting, is weird. And it frustrated the heck outta me; the s/h/b envious teen girl I made in 2015 has slowly aged out of the game without ever reacting properly. I even changed one of her traits to Jealous, but of course it didn't work as I wanted it to. Oh, well.
Playing with the parenthood-pack traits does allow us to simulate some of the emotional responses people are hoping for. Not perfect, but it helps. Sometimes!
The traits are being added to the gamepacks and expansions packs these days so if you don't buy them you don't get them. Have a look here. I suppose it is a bonus for those who buy everything!
The next "big update" i want to see is them fixing all long known bugs in all packs. Everything else can wait for me. I don't need new free content right now, i want the one i paid a lot of money for working as supposed.
I agree with @Marduc_Plays. Before adding stuff, fix the bugs. We give a lot of money to buy game pack, we are entitled to have them work properly. A good example is Restaurants who have been bad to play for a long time now and with IL they are even worse.
This would be great! I really love a lot of these ideas. For me personally I would love to see improved personalities. I want the traits we have to be developed further to make them more distinct with more influences on behaviour and emotions. I also want a fear emotion (I can't believe we don't have this yet) and more interesting traits like Neurotic, Brave, Shy, Cultured, Eccentric, Socially Awkward etc. A Loyal reward trait would be really helpful too so soulmates always live up to that definition - or perhaps we will see something like this in a Romance GP, along with an improved romance system, turn ons/offs, and sim couples cuddling in bed? I would love to have memories, interests, favourites, personal bios etc. as well to really give my sims more personality/character. Some more relationship options in CAS too would be handy, as well as a CAS option to turn sims into occults. I also really hope we get a baby update, as well as buggies/prams for toddlers.
I would love to see more careers, particularly 'every day' jobs and jobs for my handy sims e.g. repairman, firefighter, solicitor, teacher etc. I would also love to see more aspirations related to careers and skills. I really miss the old NPCs as well and I hope to see police, burglars and firefighters all return. I want cars and bikes too with carpools and I would love to have split level/L shaped stairs. I also wish we had more Off The Grid objects, matching swatches for build objects and wallpapers (I can't stand it when the coving/skirting board doesn't match when I try to use different wallpapers in the same room), and floor swatches esp. for carpets and linoleum.
I have been thinking this since a month.. well actually longer, let's say one year after the release. Cause there are so many basic items and features missing.
So, how would you feel if the developers would make a GIANT basegame update next? I am talking traits, features, jobs, more color schemes etc.
I have noticed that we get very little new traits with new EP's and they are so themed related that i can barely use them for general gameplay. I think at first the basic things need to be complete before we get bombed by themed items. i mean, it is nice, but it looses a lot of value for me when I do not have basic traits to play around with. Let me sum some up!
Basic jobs
Lawyer
Model
Architect
Call center (part-time job?)
Engineer
Waiter (par-time job?)
Repairman
Firefighter
Teacher
Basegame features
- Firefighters like previous games
- Burglars
- Open subhoods (That would be the BEST feature imo)
- Grocery shopping (shop or online)
- Spiral and L shape stairs
- Cars/vehicles
Color scheme
We have gotten some new color scheme additions to base game objects, but I think if they would patch in the system of TS2 where you could choose color combinations for one object, it would create a million new possibilities. Like how you could choose a different color for a counter top and the closet below. Or for the sofa and it's frame. It would be a good solution for The sims 4. Now I feel we just went back in time way too far.
Now, let me hear you ideas Pls be realistic when it comes to basegame updates as I hope this thread will give the devs an idea to improve the game in one shot.
I want more regular jobs, regular furniture, hobbies etc. for my regular sims. Not all my sims are going to be fashion designers or secret agents...
Also, it'd be great if we could have unplayable "lots" for careers, shopping, school etc. similar to sims freeplay (with get to work/school/shopping packs you could enter these lots), and then have a big world (like in sims freeplay) with all these different lots. This way pack related active careers could be given to basegame players as rabbit holes but the pack would give you access to the buildings and gameplay.
Aside from a major overhaul of the Sims' personalities, I would also like to see an overhaul of Buy mode. What I have in mind is the kind of overhaul that they did in CAS. Only, in buy mode, the upholstered portions of objects would be separated from the frames. Likewise, countertops would be separate from counters.
It was a flat out mistake to marry textures to the object frames and the cabinetry.
Just made a thread that firefighters are simply not gonna happen. If they ever thought of adding them later or in the moment, they wouldn't spend resource enforcing the features for Sulanis to do the job for them. Same for burglars, as they could just create a kleptomaniac npc on the spot with enforce behavior. For a similar afromention reason, I don't think we'll be getting cars as they been provided in buydebug. Sorry to be a party pooper, but I just don't see the three happening.
I would really like for sims to have more interactions with family. It'll be nice for the family tree to go deeper in detail. My original sim had twins n her twins each had 1 child. Their children know they're cousins, but their children's children don't.
I would like it if grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings could take the kids for the weekend or spend the night. N the kids r gone the entire day with them n they come back home with all their needs high, some kind of emotion like very happy, very playful, very inspired bc they enjoyed their time with their family member.
Also, of course their relationship with the family member would improve, they can come home with new toys, clothes, shoes, etc. Things your kid can only get if they participate in the sleepover. Also, the kid would come back with one of their parenting skills raised from the sleepover n homework completed.
I would also like something similar for babies n toddlers. It'll be nice if family members n friends could baby sit n spend time with them. Maybe we can nominate one to be a God parent.
More things for teens to do after school. Cheerleading, Sports, Dance, More clubs. Things teens would leave the house for like the movies, the mall, etc. They could also have bonding activities with their family members n they could stay over at friend's houses for the weekend.
Also 3 things unrelated to family; pls enable sims to walk all their dogs together! I hate walking them separately it takes way too long. Hrs!
The other thing is more tattoos, piercings, n manicures/pedicures. This will be something we can attend with them. I would love to see my sim with some hot pink nails n toes lol
More unique personalities, and bring back all the cool abilities, stuff, towns, open worlds, color wheels, hairstyles, pets, body hairs, eye lases, clothing & the rest of the missing supernaturals that isn't in Sims 4 that was in Sims 3.
I would love to see another free world. I‘m worrying about University Pack lacking lots again. I hope it wont be tied to a special world type with only -12 lots and if it does so, they should give us the option to connect it to University-Stuff(hence the performance excuse). I dont want to play only a few YA+ having the opportunity to study..
One thing I've been surprised and annoyed about since the beginning of TS4 is the fact that teenagers have adult bodies.
I also hope in the future it will be possible for sims to chill on their bed and watch tv, play with phone, read a book...
And I hope sims will be able to swim in the ocean. They can on Sulani, but not in Brindleton Bay for exemple.
