Help With S4S - extracting sims thumbnails

Hi everyone,
I'm currently using S4S get the sims thumbnails to update my family tree (outside the game). However I'm unsure how to trigger certain images to save into the localthumbcache file. I've tried opening that family, starting a new save with and briefly playing said family but when I check the localthumbcache package file, the 'date motified' shown isn't the same as the last time I saved, so neither playing a family or saving them saves their thumbnails.
What am I doing wrong? Hopefully someone understands what I mean.
