Hello I wanted to share my experience with the new pack Island living and mermaids. I also wanted to share my new build and new family.

I have to say I have not built or created a family in over a year. This is the first lot and family I have gone all out in so long I didn't think I had it in me.

Let me start with the build:

Building on water had its challenges. I had a lot of problems keeping the piers in place. They kept being replaced by cement. every once in a while the height of the house became off and grew too high. I don't know why but I would just undo until the height lowered itself. Another thing I did not realize the sims cannot just jump off the deck. There is an object to be place down for this to work. I also couldn't place stairs on an angle (we can't?).

Now these were challenges but after some trial and error all went well. The was some cool things I found (remember about a year of no play for me) The ceiling fans are so cool. They actually spin and I had a blast playing with the lights and adding them to the fans. I also had a blast combing rugs to my my own "custom" rugs. I did not know we had clear/glass floor tile. Very cool. I love how you can start build the house while in the water. the coolest part the stairs can be placed in the water at "wade" level and the sims can actually use them.
As for my build itself From the outside it looks like a large hut. Walk in and have you mind blown away by the modern look. I was inspired by tiny house living TV shows with the lofts upstairs. My fav part of my build is when in the loft upstairs you can look down and look straight into the water due to the clear floor tiles. I had a blast toying with the lights and "natural" lighting. I used a clear roof top in some areas and in others I used half walls to let light it.

Note error on my build:
I confused the Sims 3 with Sims 4 when it comes to Laundry. In sims 3 you could cheat place the laundry bin under the bathroom sink Then click the washer and all the laundry in the house would be washed and bins would empty. Not true with sims 4. Unfortunately all bins need to be accessible. So my bin in the downstairs bathroom needs to be moved. Also funniest thing. with all my play with the light I forgot to place a light in the downstairs bathroom
I must add my build was the old Pier Perfection but I gutted it and its completely remodeled.

As I mentioned above I created the Modern Pier Hut for Olympus Family. I was inspired by the greek mythology Sea gods. Think little Mermaid. In the household I created Poseidon and Amphitrite. They are the parents of (king) Triton (father of Ariel) and of Benthesikyme (Married to King Enalos of Ethiopia).

Heres the story ling I made for them:

When the Olympus family enters the scene royalties take a knee and celeberties step to the side. Who dares challenge seagods? Who dares try the patience of Poseidon and Amphitrite? The young goddess Benthesikyme and young prince Triton thats who! Poseidon dominated battles emerging triphphantly but can he survive parenthood? Can Amphitrite keep order and decipline in her household? Can she keep her Mermaid family from falling apart. Welcome to Island Living and the world of Mermaids.

I love amd miss the story lines from sims 3. I felt this family could keep me busy with a story progression. I plan on having the kids having them marry their mythology spouse and name their kids as the greek mythology goes. Of course I am going to keep the mermaid Occults going.

Now about Mermaid play...
They are beauitful sims. I love the tails. I thought it was cool they turn into mermaids while in the tub but not cool they couldnt use the pier ladder while in the water. Also I was shock they two mermaids cant woohoo while in mermaid form (in the ocean). Also find it odd toddlers and kids cant be Mermaids (they are born from sea creatures!).

This leads me to the funniest thing I ever saw in the game. I move the family into my Modern Pier Hut and I expect them to be like regular sims and run to explore the house... no! They all vanished to the sea... and left the toddler behind. They never came back either lol. Turns out the can sleep at sea. So I thought maybe they can fish and eat at sea (sounds call but no). Since they werent returning I kept shift clicking the toddler to make him happy and sometimes when I couldnt find him (because he took off and was exploring the local beaches on his own! but he cant use a toddler pool on his own?) I would just shift click the mailbox and make all happy.

So using the mailbox clearly kept the rest of the mermaids happy too (It didnt dawn on me right away) so hence why they werent returning home. They were gone for 3 sims days and by then my toddler was misible. On the 3rd sims day I forgot about my toddler until I got the notice he was hungry. So I sought out my swimming mermaids and sent one to care for him. mean while I saw a fish and I tried clicking on it to see if they could "fish" it and eat it but they cant. It would be cool if they could. (This is when I realized duh the cheat is why they werent starving (and no sims cant relieve themselves at sea even if they are mermaids).

Modern Pier Hut is a very nice modern beach home! Very nice exterior design, glass windows and roofing! The lantern string lights are pretty! Very nice furnishing of the interior and open plan layout of the living areas! Very nice upper level loft. bedroom areas! The colours, design and floor rugs are very nice. They would have very nice views from there,
The Olympus family that you created to live there are very nice! It is great background details that you have written about them! The toddler is cute!

@rosemow do you have island living? and so Any funny island tales?
I had my sims visiting another sims and I told her to go home. I thought she would run to the side walk and the loading page would start. Instead she started running. I figured any second and the loading will come. yet she kept going and it took forever. I FREAKED OUT I was like OMG she actually running home. I thought for a moment island living brought us "open" worlds for the island only (im thinking this explains why my toddler keeps running off to near by parks) I became so excited and almost held my breath (sure glad I didnt) she ran all the way to in front of her home (about a full min and half real time of running) and starts heading up her walk way... for one moment I thought she would just walk into her house like in sims 3... but then then wretched dreaded hated load screen appeared. WHY! what was the point to all the darn running? I was so sad.
