Chocolate Egg Chase seasonal quest

I am in the middle of the Chocolate egg chase seasonal quest and I'm stuck. I am trying to have my sims view the chocolate egg case, but I'm having a hard time. I checked the inventory tab in the decorations section of the store, but the egg case isn't there. When I go to the store to try and purchase, it's grayed out and locked. I remember having the egg case from a previous quest and don't think I removed it from a sim's home, but I can't find it. I've looked through my sim's homes many times and I don't see it anywhere. Since it's not in my inventory, it sounds like I already have one someone and cannot receive another one. I can't find it anywhere in my sim's homes. I really want to complete this quest and I'm already losing so much time. Someone please, please help me! Where can I find this egg case? Thanks!

I really like this blog too. I read through the egg quest post when I was looking for help. I tried what it says and it's still not working. I can't place the egg chest anywhere but it's not already in any of my sim's homes either. The quest is almost over. I've wasted alot of time on it. I'm bummed I couldn't get help or figure it out in time.
