Bugging Butlers?

In my main savefile I play with some households that have butlers. I haven't played long enough in other saves, so I don't know if it's because my save is pretty old and with a lot of sims (alsmost 2 years and 270 - 280 played sims). I play rotationally and I have a lot of families, so it takes a few sim-years to come back to a family and I noticed, that the butler of a family wanted to charge 38k simoleons. The family didn't have so much money, so I cheated it.
After a while I played my second household who has a butler, and here almost the same, he wanted to get 18k from the family. Same thing, I cheated the money.
Do you experience the same? It seems like the butlers wage doesn't pause when I switch households but it goes on, so I experience a very high charge when playing the household again. Are there any tips or is it a known bug?
Oh, I don't use mods in my games.
