They are going to update the game requirements in June, which means they had to make that decision based on something around the game. I remember that this happened when Pets was released in Sims 3. I had heard some chicken noises while playing in StrangerVille. Horses are bigger than cats and dogs, as well as a Farming EP would require a bigger world than what we have so far... It need more than just one single 64x64 lot. I believe this is the Farming EP we are going to get in June. The university one would probably work better released in the Holiday, it is highly requested and would make a lot of money as people would gift it on Christmas. I don't see a Tropical EP coming any sooner, there are other stuff more important, and they just released both Seasons and a Vacation Spot last year.
I believe that this year we are going to get:
    February: StrangerVille GP
    June: Farming EP
    September: Witches GP
    November: University EP

I hope it goes that way !! :)

I play on ps4 and I really do hope we get a generations pack. I'm doing a legacy family right now and it's very tedious having to do everything manually.

A vacation pack seems most likely for summer time, so if a June EP is really coming, my bets are on an Island Vacation.

University would best be left to the time that University goers get their loans or grants paid for the year. :)

As someone who couldn't care less about vacation spots I'm actually starting to hope they make a tropical vacation gp just so people stop talking about it and there's one less thing to speculate on. And yes, you could say that everyone who wants an occult sounds like a broken record too, and we do, but we haven't gotten an occult in years. We have however, gotten a vacation gamepack recently. No, it isn't the tropics but it's still a vacation area at least. And I don't count strangerville as bringing in another playable occult lifestate.

I just saw something on twitter. What I was thinking about a pack is this.

    The Sims 4 Tropical Paradise
A new beach world based on Spanish/Caribbean islands and Hawaii
New radio stations - Reggae and calypso
New harvestables - Pineapple and coconut
New dance moves - Hula dance
New objects - Lounge chairs and surfing station
New skills - Surfing, hula dancing
    New aspirations - Surfer
New traits - Loves water, hates water

What do you think the expansion will be for June 2019?

Hope this is what it is plus with resorts, swimming in the ocean, beach activities and more pool items.

I hope for mermaids, but I know the chance is slim.😒

Grant spoke about Farming very skeptically last year (he didn’t think Farming would do too well against other themes people want). Since it takes over a year to make an EP, if they didn’t decide on a farming pack back then, a farming EP releasing this year is unlikely.

@elelunicy Simmers have been asking for that since Sims 1. There is that possibility that he was just checking what we would say in case they needed to add/change something... Simmers have a lot of opinion on how they want their games, whenever a Guru talkas about a theme there are tons of people giving ideas. But, I don't know, as I said it need to be something huge to provoke them to update the game in such way, maybe it oculd be swimable oceans as well, but i don't know.

Hopefully it's a Date Night pack with turn ons and turn offs, a new date system, chemistry/attraction, zodiacs and new venues like casinos, movie theatres, mini golf, cars, Ms. Crumplebottom NPC, etc.
    What about favorites?

    Hmm,

The only Expansions I'm in the Market for are:
    Farming
    University

What about a university where you learn about farming??

I've been thinking more about the next expansion.. It would be good if we could decide on the size of the plot we could create say up to 100x100.. you can enter the size manually like 22 x 10 or something..

What about like/dislike on activities? What about better traits with more gameplay? What about memory? What about less moody emotions? Etc. We need an overhaul on personalities. I made a thread about it here : https://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/956460/what-can-be-done-to-fix-sims-themselves#latest

I has to be somehting meaningfully big to the game core or some gameplay that requires an overhaul/fine tunning of some part of the system.
    It could be
    - related to lots: maybe the ability to rotate them at will or have the ability to combine 2 or 3 lot types into 1 (would fit for a Farming/Countrisde EP)
    - something with the terrain such as swimming in bodies of water and creating ponds (ideal for an Island Paradise type of pack)

    or I don't know...

Where are you getting this info? To my knowledge the only thing happening with future packs is that they will have higher minimum specs. Sims 4 is already 64bit, there is no overhaul associated with the news of 32bit support being dropped.

If there isn't a major worthwhile upgrade in the next Expansion EA/Maxis will have to have a very good excuse ready. Some people will have bought a new PC or Mac in hopes of it. That information should come way ahead of any coming pack. If Sims 4 is coming to an end they should make that clear also.

    I'm asking myself.

In view of the fact that people with 32bit or Mac low end computers won't be able to buy/use new Sims 4 packs after February 28th. What is the pack that might persuade Simmers to upgrade their machines or get a new PC or Mac to buy it?

I can wish and hope with all my might that it will have something to do with the sims themselves and that they will become more in depth with a better memory system.....(they did say these sims would remember everything even just by their original example of the guy having a fit because he ran in to the sim that cut him down about something.) we all know that's a farce though because they don't remember anything about their relationships and are all buddy buddy right after you have to force them to declare enemies.

They also need better attraction systems, or dislike systems.

We need work on the background behaviours of the sims before we need other eps. So I hope there's some upgrades to that stuff with this.

Hello Simmers! i'm with MasonGamer and FreezerBunnyCowplant, I would love a farming ep, then an island Paradise pk, followed by University :)

Count me in for this as well, in that exact order! The main reason I want University is it'll likely come with bunk beds and maybe some unique venues like the comic book shop from Sims 3 (though with the smaller worlds probably not.) So yeah, bunk beds. I'll take a whole farming or Island Paradise EP over that. I realize not everyone will agree, but as my siggy says....JMO.
It's kind of sad that I have to point out that anything I say is only just my opinion and may be a different one from someone else.

If this is the case they also need to update the beds so sims can relax, cuddle, makeout etc in them.

The 64 bit only patch is surely a sign of the next EP coming in June, so now let's think what the pack will be. I know SimGuru said that we shouldn't compare this year's release model with the last year, but it is a good starting place.

Last year, we have 2 EPs released in one year for the first time. Seasons in first half of that year, and Get Famous in the second half. I guess why they choose Get Famous as the EP released in the second half because it is not a super popular theme, especially if we compare it to Seasons. So, what's the matter? Well, the second half of the year release time is close to the biggest sale time of the year: Christmas sale. So, maybe, they choose EP containing the not so popular theme so people who want to buy packs for themselves or their loved one will choose the newest pack that is Get Famous. Seasons don't need sale boost from Christmas season because its theme was predicted to be able to promote itself, compared with Get Famous.

Based on that prediction, we can guess that EP in June will contain theme that comparatively popular. University and Tropical Vacation is plausibly popular. If we go with familiarity, University will be chosen, but Tropical Vacation is time appropiated. Supernatural is too divisive and Farming as a concept of EP is too new.

But, honestly, i am hoping for Magic Pack.

Still hoping for a little magic and a new life state over here. (ie Something not temporary, something you can create in CAS, and something that has abilities that make it distinct from other Sims, not just looks different or has different needs.)

If we do end up getting farming and horses, can we at least get unicorns?

We have a better chance at guessing what they do if we try to understand what 32bit vs 64bit actually means.
Someone tried to explain it to me years ago. No Idea if I understand it correctly, but I'm sharing what I understood anyway. If you know better, please correct me.

The more bit you have, the more your CPU can process at the same time. Running a 32 bit program on a 64 bit computer means the code can't ask your computer of everything he's really capable of. A fast CPU means your computer finishes tasks faster and can do more complicated tasks in a reasonable amount of time. Some stuff has to be done continuously over the entire time of using a program, such as playing music, rendering graphics in a videogame or keep track of scripts. That is why several things have to be done at the same time. And a 64 bit computer can do more things at the same time than a 32 bit machine.

Them abandoning the 32 bit version, if my understanding is correct, they are adding something that requires more stuff being calculated behind the scenes and being tracked at the same time than the 32bit version can actually do.
It's not more complicated individual calculations, or the CPU demands would go up.
It's not fancier graphics or the graphics card demands would go up.

I'll give you an example of what I mean.
If you have a huge amount of Sims on one lot, you'll eventually get lag. That is because the game has to keep track of their location, their interactions, their needs, their moodlets, their relationships with the currently played Sims and so on. For all of those Sims at the same time.
As there is only so much that can be calculated at the same time, the game fails to keep up or delays important background stuff.
The 64bit version of the game can handle a lot more of that. I'm willing to bet you'll notice if you test this out.
And it's not just Sims. Birds in public space, plants, bee boxes from Seasons, rodent cages, babies and even waves on the ocean and cars driving by have to be calculated and kept track of.

Again, if I understand this wrong and you know it's actually different, please correct me. But that's my current understanding of how this works, based on an explanation I got years ago.

But assuming this is correct and assuming they add some feature that actually requires this much of background calculations, what could it be?

Not necessarily. Processing power and threading have more to do with how much your processor can do. A processor that can handle more threads at the same time is obviously more powerful (assuming that a program takes advantage of multithreading, which I guess most modern programs do)

(Threads in this case are like mini-programs that can be done side-by-side. For example, TS4 could have one thread handle aging for all sims in your save file, while another thread handles your sim's moodlets)

Higher CPU bitness just means that your machine can handle more RAM (32-bit has a 4 GB hard limit) and that software with a higher bitness can process larger numbers (which, for practical purposes, isn't really needed by video games).

Having more RAM makes a lot of difference though, especially with a data-heavy game like The Sims 4. :) Just ask The Sims 3 and the horrors of error code 12 :joy:
