Sims 4 Laptop Upgrade

I'm sure this has been asked a million times before, but I'd like to double check that a laptop I'm considering will be sufficient enough to run TS4 plus expansions, game packs, CC, etc on a high setting. I'm only looking to play TS4 on this laptop, I'm not a PC gamer and I use a Mac for everything but gaming. Budget is flexible, the laptop I'm currently looking at is close to £800. I'm not remotely tech savvy and any help would be massively appreciated!

Processor: Intel Core i5 Quad Core Processor
Memory (RAAM): 8GB
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 TI
1st storage drive: 240GB ADATA SU650 2.5" SSD
1st M.2 SSD drive 128GB ADATA SU800

Thanks in advance and I apologise if this has been posted in the wrong category.

It should be totally fine. The game is heavily CPU bound and with an i5 you might get the occasional lag spike on large lots or in San Myshuno, but mostly you’ll be at a smooth 60 FPS.

Thank you, that's good to know!

Agreed, you shouldn't have to much of a problem. I'd probably be on Medium/High setting depending on your location just to keep the game smooth. What speed is the process? Like the GHZ, there is many different versions of I5 processors.

Good tip! This is what it says on the site: 2.3GHz, 4.0GHz Turbo. And the actual processor is listed as the i5 quad core processor 8300H.

Looked online for you, seems like a decent PC for the price. I checked out Amazon and found an HP with similar specs for 100 dollars cheaper, although I'm in the US. If it's similar to this one, then I think your golden. idk anything about that model, so I'm not saying you should get it, but it looks like a good deal. I prefer ASUS laptops myself.

Not OP, but would an i7 face a lag spike?

Thanks again for your help, everybody! I decided to go for it and have ordered. I ended up choosing for it to have the Intel i7 six core processor (2.2GHz, 4.1GHz Turbo) since it didn't cost much more. I'm having it built to my specifications so I was keen to get it right and make doubly sure it'd be sufficient. Excited to get back into simming!

On a properly configured system, it shouldn’t. A lot of games are demanding more than 4 cores these days, TS4 included.

Was going to recommend you post this on the technical forums since they have people who are very reliable and help pick out pcs.

They've been very helpful to me.

Just wanted to do an update now that my laptop's arrived and I've tested it and all that jazz.

I went with the i7 like I said I would. The specs I chose were probably overkill but like I said, I wanted to be sure. When I loaded the game, it was incredibly fast and was automatically set to the 'ultra' settings. I've played around a bit and it's like playing a new game compared to my old decrepit laptop! Placing a lot took a matter of seconds where it used to take a couple of minutes. San Myshuno runs incredibly well (and I can actually see the whole city now!) and travelling happens in the blink of an eye.

So all in all, I definitely made the right choice. I'm so happy I can finally play again and it no longer feels like a chore. Thank you again to everybody who helped, I'm still by no means a tech genius but I feel like I learned from this experience! <3 And to anybody in the UK, I would certainly recommend PC Specialist if you're in the market for a custom build.
