already knew i was getting the pack just from the feel of the leadup, but especially after seeing the trailer and various screenshots. i think it was the 15th repeat of the trailer where i was paying more attention to background things, seeing what was new and whatnot

things like "ok, i need those new trees there" and, especially with things like this screenshot:
(going to keep it a link to avoid spoiling people who don't want to see certain details early, though it's a lab build)
    https://sims.arhn.eu/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/the-sims-4-strangeville-pakiet-3.png

i was immediately "there's an alien supervillain in my game that needs some of those in his lair, trying to figure out how to use it for his own goals instead of those of 'the mother'" and "my alien scientist also needs some, trying to stop both 'the mother' and the supervillain"

add in the new looks i'll be able to give a few of my non-villain secret agents, the military stuff (pretty sure it is a new career, and even if not, you can fake it with the self-employed thing...just gotta worry about how to make money, then) and even some of the new western cas is going to be nice for a few cowboys and even some of my selvadoradan natives... and this is all without even setting foot in the new world yet, though i'm basically immediately sending a sim or three there... (...question is, will it begin with my plantsim explorer or will i make someone specifically for the pack. we'll see in a week). and the conspiracy theorist stuff... hopefully there's some more 'normal' looking parts of it to give to my sims based on characters from 'the secret world' (which has...more than a few secret societies and other weird secrets in it)

as for the world itself, i've seen more than a few people complaining "nobody asked for another desert world. it's so boring", to which my response is "totally untrue". oasis springs is still one of my favorite sims 4 worlds and i'd been asking for another desert setting ever since newcrest was released. aspects of this look more like badlands, which i'm happy to see. people always seem to forget that "i personally didn't ask for this" is not "nobody asked for this"

...now to start poking through my townies and seeing who i can afford to lose, replace, or edit heavily for the new pack...

Wait, if we can move into Strangerville, does that mean we're moving into...THE STRANGERHOOD?!

I am absolutely delighted to have a new desert world, especially if it has a "town" feeling to it. I've been trying for ages to get a sort of Radiator Springs thing going in Oasis Springs, and most of the neighborhoods are a little too upscale for that. Knowing that this one can double as the "event" location as well as a regular live-in world makes me extremely happy.

I wasn't sure about this last night (well, around 3am this morning), but after watching the trailer (when waking up) I am very excited. I love the look of the town and the fact the Military is back <3 . I have looked at them strange people enough that I believe I can deal with them, LOL

Since its not a vacation world and you can opt-out and play normal......that is just amazing!

So yes, I am very excited about this pack!

Okay still have a few burning questions. However I am pretty excited for this. Usually this is not my cup of tea, but the intrigue of the “mystery” and the sims 2 throwback have me looking forward to next week.

This is the cutest top. I don't get into CAS very often. Is it new?

I’m intrigued but it’s hard to really gauge how good it I’ll be till we know more about what the gameplay elements will be. For now I like the idea of something to uncover and explore and new careers are always great if indeed Military will be a new career. I look forward to more details coming forth soon.

Any idea when we are going to learn more? Dying to find out what all comes in this pack!

I think it might be a lot like the movie set or the temple, they set it up for you any freebuild gets cleaned each time. The military might be like the prisoners or the skeletons, incidental characters.

Okay, cannot believe I am saying this, but they might have caught my attention. I stopped playing 4 last summer and have been back to playing 3 exclusively since. Pets left me underwhelmed and I refused to even try seasons because I simply didn't feel it could add enough new gameplay to change my opinion. I also had no real interest in JA. BUT, that being said, this has potential. It looks like an actual story driven game approach. I know, not our normal Sims preference, but you when you combine it with a live able town and possible new life states.....

It isn't likely to bring me back to 4 on a regular basis. But, if the reviews are good, I could see myself going back in for a short swim.

While I of course have things that I'm always hoping to see added to the game, getting a big suprise like this is so exciting! That, combined with the process of hyping this up on Twitter and the quick release date -- it's a great move.

I'm really interested in how they appear to be showing camper trailers and the very very tiny lot at the beginning of the video, even though it could just be for the sake of the video itself. And I guess it's not clear exactly how it'll be integrated, but all the previews so far indicate that the military is involved - whether it's a career or not. Honestly, I could never imagine being excited about military careers or anything like that being added to the game, but having it be a part of some mystery like this is perfect and now has me interested.

LOVE the look of the new world. I wish it had casinos, but oh well...

I do hope if martial arts is added it will also be added as an after school activity for kids. Same with military. We have something called ROTC where I live that's like military prep for kids.

Just watched the video and read the info at Sims Wikipedia ( plus here).

Definitely sounds like there's a mystery on our hands! Better call Scooby Doo and the gang to solve it! :+1:

While that is nice they will add content but For me they have yet to produce features such as lot editors allowing one to add, subtract, alter lot size and an neighborhood creator which some would like instead of waiting for EA/Maxis to give us one which is thier vision and not mine. It would be great to use colors outside of the primary colors and basic color group. If this can be done I would say Sims 4 is complete for me and I will praise EA/Maxis for that until then they can add all the items they want and for me it will be just an average game.

Anything that is put out is worth purchasing IMO, I feel with the hours of enjoyment this game has provided for Me that purchasing anything new will only add to my game play..and those BOXER Braids and possibly very long dreads?! Loved that look ♥

I'm so excited for this. Gonna make a Sim and her loyal canine crack this case. I wonder if teens and kids are immune?

I don't see that happening for the sims 4 but who knows they might but it's unlikely i imagine it would be too tricky with how the world works. Unfortunately we cant get everything, technology has still got its limits even today. They want to make this game playable. If they added those things with what we have already and obviously there's more content and updates to come. It's going to be the biggest game in the series. It could make it unplayable with the technology we have right now. The sims 4 game is demanding with the specs as it is @Goldmoldar

My questions are simple....1. does this effect all neighborhoods and gameplay or just the new neighborhood?...2. Can you live there?...3. Can you be in the Military career?...4. Is whatever it is effecting them curable?

    1. Just Strangerville. You can also choose to remove the strangeness to make it a regular world, but where's the fun in that?
    2. Yes (Guru confirmed)
    3. Yes. (Also confirmed)
    4. Probably. In the trailer, their friend didnt have it at the end and was seemingly exploring with them.

This looks cool ... if it has replay value. If it’s just a one time mystery then I’m not sure it’s worth it.
