So I just bought the Sims 4, and I wanted to know if there was any must have cc or anything generally recommended. Mods or just CAS stuff (Alpha or Maxis-Match) both welcomed.
Kijiko Eyelashes (you can find them under sunglasses; to see them in hot/cold weather, just x out the "hot weather" or "cold weather" when you're in that category) http://kijiko-catfood.com/3d-lashes-version2/
Here's a picture with all 3 of the above cc in place:
Height Slider by GodJul1 (grab the feet in CAS and move left or right to make taller or shorter) http://modthesims.info/d/588159
Joolster Picture Frames (you'lls have to scroll down to find these - use the move objects cheat to place over your pics to give you more framing options) http://sims4studio.com/thread/4774/joolsters-corner
@rosemow I've heard of MCCC before, thanks for reminding me about it! @QueenofMyshuno Thanks for the CAS recs! Do you know if there's another place I can pick up the lashes? My internet has issues with accessing sites from Asia for some reason, so the site won't load for me.
@Nyanakochan She has several versions spread across the internet, so if you do a search for kijiko, you should be able to find something. The ones I use are version 2, but any of her lashes from that number or above are probably good and up to date.

Lots of converted adult hairs for children and vice versa. Same for toddlers. Love it cause there are so many hair styles available in game that are limited to just one age group. She also has custom hairs and some converted and custom clothing but I mainly go for the hair.
My top favorites are
1. Madlen (MJ95 at TSR) for shoes
2. Marigold (her blog/site is kinda a pain to navigate but the cc is soo worth while)
3. MissFortuneSims at TSR
4. WildlyMiniatureSandwich at tumblr
5. Kijiko (at her blog/site) she makes gorgeous 3d eyelashes that will change your simlife!
6. Serenity_CC at TSR
7. Beloallure at TSR.
There are many other wonderful artists I use but these are the ones I can't live without.
Loving yourself is the most simple and complicated thing you can do for you.
Mostly a bunch of MM ones, but my favorites.
1. Simple Simmer
2. XLDsims (Does a lot of male related content and lot of male hairs)
3. Leeleesims1 (Various afro centric hairs with some straight ones too, plus very nice MM clothing)
4. Shespeakssimlish (More curly and coarse afro centric hairstyles)
5. Grimcookies (Hairs, skinblend, and makeup)
6. Averia (Eyes, clothes, hair, recolors)
7. Simlaughlove (Clothing and hair and some objects)
8. Luumiasims (Mods to remove the blue glo and eyeshine in game, lighting mods and clohing and skin blends)
9. Viiavi (Lots of female clothing, skinblends)
Wowza, thanks for all the recommendations! I'm slowly trying to go through them all while looking at stuff on the side as well.
If any of you are still here after recommending things, may I possibly ask a favor? If you know of any cutesy, pastel, or anything that may go under the style of "kawaii" (like, anime, harajuku, or japanese inspired cute clothes), and/or goth-styled or punk-styled stuff, could you please link them? At least for the "kawaii"-styled stuff, it's been hard to find links to them that aren't dead or secretly Sims 3.

That sounds strange, usually it is the other way round (censorship in China), but if you are really a victim of some kind of "region lock" you could try Tor Browser.

Have you asked the reasons from your Internet Provider? This is really odd. You could also try maybe a VPN program that hides where you come from. That should circumvent the censorship. There are several awailable both free and via subscriptions.
@TopNotchToddler and @Stina1701A I was once told it might have something to do with internet speed? I use WiFi provided by my building, and it's not exactly that great to begin with, so it's possible. I think I might try out a vpn to see if that fixes it somehow.
Also, it seems to be specifically Japanese and Chinese websites I have trouble connecting to, as Marigold's website worked fine and seems to be based in South Korea.

One of my favorite hair creators (they have clothing and stuff too) where you can find styles for all ages and genders (you might have to translate the page) : https://birkschessimsblog.wordpress.com/hairstyles/

Default Expressive Eye Replacement by Ms Blue (these can make the eyes look a little bloodshot from the corners, but I still like them for their realistic effect) https://www.thesimsresource.com/downloads/details/category/sims4-eyecolors/title/expressive-eyes-v2-hq-default/id/1366013/

And Karazlee aka StudioK mades a lot of clothing, hairstyles and accessories who would suit the the word Kawai.

On the Alpha Hair Side there's Leathlilith who a lot of hairstyles in Pastel Colors.

It not only allows you to unlock career outfits but also to access outfits hidden in the game otherwise not accessible.
EDIT: As for your technical problem...

Great recommendation @VentusMatt - thanks!
