GF Acting Career - Views on pay?

Hey all,

I thought I'd ask y'all your opinion on the money you can make from the acting career. Personally I think even when you're at the top of the career, you don't actually earn that much money considering your skill and likely high fame level, but was wondering if anyone differed in opinion?

I think the main fault is down to the fact you can only take one gig at a time, and even if you have the 'established name' perk to ignore auditions- there's considerable time spent in-between getting the gig and your actual work day. Even more so if you have to do the audition.

Thanks to the lengthy process, I've found that the money earned for one day's work doesn't actually go far. I'm doing a rags to riches style playthrough with the career and find that I can rarely actually progress. I was wondering if anyone was doing the same and how they combated the pay issues?

I feel like sims who are acting should receive residual payments like writers. They should receive an immediate payment for the gig, then get smaller payments after.

    The pay is absolutely horrible!

This coupled with hardly working any days on top of absolutely no raises once you reach level 10, means that an Actor, who ONLY gets their income through acting, is going to have a very limited amount of money.

I'm too used to just going with the job that has a high amount of hours-per-week, and just coasting along with Job Lv10 raises.
    And acting just cannot compete...

Technically they are auditioning for a part - and no actor ever gets paid to audition though. They get paid when they make a film and get a contract - not audition for the part. The pay always varies as it often depends on how the film made out at the box office - which is often a year or more after they did the job, especially the big -more famous stars.

Granted I don't have the pack and only go by what I have seen in videos of the pack -

They had to Strike for that. Primarily, the Strike was for them to get residuals when something went into syndication. I'm uncertain they ever gained pay for film/dvd sales, however. The Strike is what lead to the Reality Shows. So, in some ways, the actors gained a little, but lost a little, too.

If you don't mind using a mod MCCC has a cheat where you can give a Sim an increase in funds. That should solve the problem, as you can set how much is given.

I think the career has two problems; the celebrity perk that doubles the pay doesn't work for it and the median pay seems off. If those two things were fixed I think it would pay fine. I don't believe other changes are necessary. I like that it only allows for two gigs per week because it prevents you from getting burned out doing the same gigs over and over again.

In RL actors normally don't work 5 days a week. There might be weeks with no job at all. Most actors have other income on the side.

I'd have given them royalties/residuals once the project was done because the gig payout seems really low compared to other careers and you can only have a gig every few days IF you pass the audition, to begin with (at least until you can ignore auditions).
