Start all over

Would it it be best with the new patch and expansion coming out simply to do a factory reset and start all over? Including saved games etc.?

It depends. With some of updates and having to wait for multiple mods to catch up, I always start a new vanilla file.

I've been playing with the same main save ever since I got the game in early 2017, and everything is still working fine. (Well, as "fine" as it gets with TS4.) Some patches cause issues with mods, but they disappear once the mods are updated, others bring bugs into the game that weren't there before, but in that case a new game probably won't save you either.

So yeah, nothing is stopping you from creating an entirely new save if that's what you want, but nothing is forcing you either.

I started a over just to make sure I didn't have anything conflicting in my mods folder. But I backed up my saved games so I didn't lose anything.

I backed up my entire Sims4 game folder. Copied it to my desktop. That way if the unthinkable happens, I have my families and can just pick up where I left off, or if need be again start them over in a fresh game save. So far, so good. The only mod I perceive myself needing is MCCC. Already there was a hotfix for it, and early today another hotfix to fix any issues. Now, if we could just get to Friday, things would be far better. LOL I've got PEPS really bad.
