Although I am a bit frustrated with these bugs, I'm still cheering for them and I hope they are able fix them.
I definitely do not want disability in my game. If they add it, I hope it’s an optional thing. I hope the “free stuff” is something awesome like toddlers, but more than likely is something lame like the gallery overhaul.
You like me because I'm a scoundrel. There aren't enough scoundrels in your life.
The wording of the tweet is strange... We can't get bug fixes this month because free content is too important? I find it hard to believe that the team making the handful of CAS and build items that we generally get as free patch content is the same team working on bug fixes. If that is the case, there's a problem with priorities.
I definitely do not want disability in my game. If they add it, I hope it’s an optional thing. I hope the “free stuff” is something awesome like toddlers, but more than likely is something lame like the gallery overhaul.
I too do not want disabilities in the game. If they are I hope it is a pack or optional. I think done wrong it will be a disaster and I understand that some who are handicapped want to create themselves in the game. (I worked in a school with handicapped young adults for 30 years) They really want to forget they have a handicap even if it for a short time, at least most I have encountered do.
What kinds of handicaps will they be showcasing? If it is just wheelchairs then that should be free content and go from there. A few ramps and we can have skateboarding and skiing. Also with the wheelchair when a sim goes to the hospital they can be transported in it. That is about as far as I would like to see this go if it has to be.
Otherwise I see no real need for handicaps. I think it will cause a problem with some immature simmers who will "bully" others in real life. All my life my mother was handicapped in a wheelchair she could not do much I was her caregiver even as a child, not something I want to re-live in a game. Also right now my husband cant walk due to cancer and I am his caregiver I play to forget the handicaps. Please EA do not bring them on into the game.
Now on topic. I think that I will be playing my game longer without broken mods and broken game that I have to wait for a mod to fix because EA broke it in the last patch
This is VERY concerning... especially since there are STILL several major bugs in the game that have been there since 'Seasons'. Despite the fact that they've had like 5 patches since then, they still haven't fixed a lot of the bugs that literally make the game unplayable and/or impossible to fully enjoy.
I'm disturbed by the fact that the developers seem to prioritize introducing "really fun free stuff" (as they like to call it) over fixing the problems the game already has. To me, that just says they really don't care about us.
In the game's current state, there's no point in "really fun free stuff" when you can't even play the game without experiencing bugs 99% of the time. I mean, what's the point of adding ANY kind of content when the game is broken as it is!? Also, it's likely that the "really fun free stuff" will only add more bugs to the game... yay!
"We know the game is broken and there are many bugs to fix, but here's a free outfit nobody asked for! Also, let's add some new hairstyles that are just re-textured versions of what we already have! And, to top it all off, here's a new pack that looks really fun, but will bring in so many bugs to the game that it won't even be playable! And when you ask us to fix these issues, we'll just give you more free stuff, instead of fixing the actual problems!"
^ This is basically what they're saying by ignoring the bugs that are currently in the game and not even addressing them at all.
What bugs is everyone even talking about? My game plays fine....
Most (if not all) of them have been caused by 'Seasons'... unless you own that expansion pack, you probably haven't experienced them.
1) There's a bug that causes Sims to come home from school/work during a holiday if another Sim travels to a different lot (or if you simply exit the game). This completely diminishes the option to choose whether or not our Sims have the day off during a holiday.
2). The bug that causes pets to be extra needy still occurs (despite claiming to have been fixed). The queues still get flooded with pets wanting attention from a Sim. This often interrupts tasks the Sims are already performing (especially during meals). Sims will just stand up, walk over to the pet, and pet/hug/kiss them. It's autonomous.
3). There's also a bug that causes Sims to randomly teleport around the room. It usually occurs when a Sim is doing a specific task (like doing dishes). And when a Sim teleports, they kinda just "reset" and the dish pile they were taking care of ends up on the floor somewhere.
4) Another extremely annoying bug is whenever a Sim wants to simply chat with another, they'll stand up and hug each other EVERY SINGLE TIME. This never happened before 'Seasons'. For example, during a meal, all Sims will be sitting down... and if you simply wanna make one Sim start talking to another Sim at the table, they'll both stand up and hug each other.
5) There's a bug that causes Sims to randomly freeze and just sit/stand there. Time will still progress, but Sims will literally just be stuck and not do anything.
There are some others I've seen/heard people addressing, but I can't think of any at the moment. Either way, the developers are ignoring them and it's irritating. Especially when these bugs make the game almost impossible to fully enjoy. Also, some of them (like I said) completely diminish the purpose of specific features. It's ridiculous.
Yes, I am having all of these issues also and let's not forget about the darn leaf piles. I have a ton of mods in my game to take care of bugs and I would like to get rid of these mods. As far as there is no patch being released this month? Yay!! I won't need to track down info on which of my mods need to be updated for a few weeks. And most of these mods are essential to playing my game without wanting to pull my hair out. I have two mods for the leaf piles, one for the hugging, one for the pet attention spamming, one for the autonomous drink from fridge and sink that fills a lot with empty glasses, one for the autonomous flirting and romantic actions, one to stop the inappropriate behavior that occurs in the sauna, one for the Sims wanting to carry dishes to the nearest bathroom sink to wash them.....you get the idea. The biggest pet peeve I have at the moment is with leaving a lot with one Sim and having the kids come home early from school or the spouse missing work because they decided to sneak home as soon as the parent/spouse left to attend a club meeting or to visit a friend. It doesn't have to be a holiday for this to happen in my game. And when I do return to the home lot everyone in the household except the pets is standing outside soaking wet, freezing to death or dying from the heat. WTH! And could someone explain to me why pets won't eat or go potty if I am doing a rotation through my families and wait until that family is active again before eating or going potty? As soon as I leave that lot their needs should remain the same as when I left. Thank the stars for MCCC or I would have ditched the pets out of fear they'll die during my absence. With MCCC I slowed their needs decay so they're safe for now.
Just because EA/Maxis is planning to gift us some freebies that doesn't mean they are off the hook when it comes to fixing the bugs. There are way too many in the game, forcing us to resort to adding mods to get rid of them completely or lessen the impact those bugs have on our enjoyment and immersion. It seems as if I spend as much time looking for bugs fixes as I do playing at the moment. I realize every game no matter if it's a PC game or one for consoles, each and every one of them experiences issues. But that doesn't mean we have to accept the issues as being our responsibility to fix through mods or workarounds. Seasons has been out for nearly three months and we are still waiting for them to fix what they broke. Heck, we're still waiting for some fixes for things that went wrong when Dine Out was released. So if they have pushed back the release of a GP or SP to fix a few more bugs, that's fine with me. But if the next patch is all about freebies without any bug fixes I am not going to be pleased.
The leaf piles thing should definitely be fixed! I don't necessarily think it's a bug, but definitely a poor programming choice for the game. They should still fix it though... they should make it so the piles disappear once winter comes along.
Another issue with the pets that I failed to address in my original comment is the fact that non-played households NEVER take their pets to the vet! Every time I go to another Sim's house, their cat/dog is always sick... and it's really disturbing. They just act like it's normal. And they also don't autonomously fill their food bowls either. Which makes the overall situation even worse. I mean, I get that these are virtual animals, but it makes me feel sad to see these things happening. Again, I don't think this is technically a bug, but it's definitely something the developers should at least look at and change.
I legitimately feel like this free content is meant to be a distraction from the bugs and issues we're experiencing. They probably think we'll just forget all about the bugs if they act nice by giving us free stuff they think is "fun"... even though it's really not as good as they claim.
And I definitely agree about the mods! We shouldn't have to resort to mods as a way of fixing our game. That's something the developers should be working on. Honestly, it's kinda sad how modders do a better job at fixing bugs than the actual developers do. In my opinion, mods should only be used to IMPROVE the gaming experience. Not fix the issues.
The fact that 'Seasons' has been out for several months is exactly why I'm angry as well. If it was only released a couple weeks ago, it would be a different story... but THREE months since the release is ridiculous!
I usually try being optimistic whenever something like this occurs, but I find it hard to do so anymore... especially since I'm almost always disappointed with every patch since 'Seasons'.

Oh yes, the free content is most definitely a distraction. They want to throw the idea of new paid content and free content at us so that we will forget about the current issues.
In all reality, the October patch will be lackluster even with the extra month they took.
So we can expect "free fun stuff" next month and 1 payed pack (possibly a Game Pack) this year.
Sounds like a really empty last half of the year to be honest.
We only had 4 packs this year so far. I guess SPs are really gone.
About breaking the one patch every month tradition, I do not understand why this decision was made, surely they have at least a couple of bug fixes ready to go. Why not release just a small patch with a couple of bug fixes?
Probably because that people would then complain of how small the patch was?
We had small patches in the past. There are many bugs at the moment and we recently got a patch full of free content anyways, people don't expect (or shouldn't) big patches every month.
I'm not sure why people would complain more for having a small patch that fixes game issues than for not having any patch at all.
If we're getting new DLC this year (probably November to take advantage of the Winterfest shopping season ) maybe they're under pressure to squash as many bugs as possible before creating new ones. So we could get a massive bug-fixing patch next month. I may have to give up the Neat trait for my Sims if they don't do something about the leaf piles; I sent my Sim out skating but she was too uncomfortable to do it because of all the stinky leaf piles in the area.

Same. I don't get bugs, and my game wasn't buggy. The last major bug that I experienced was the one with the Parenthood patch, where NPC dress themselves such horrible combinations. I don't get any bugs in my game.
I hope EA will address the issue on bugs that people experience.

If you take a walk in Oasis Springs at night, you will see that the horrible combinations have returned in full splendour.
M game was doing fairly well until Seasons was released. Seasons impacted my game in so many ways I have a real fear about downloading another patch. TS1299 and AquaGamer1212 have stated they are not experiencing the same problems some of us are having with various glitches and bugs. They are very fortunate. I have pulled all CC and mods from my game, deleted all caches and repaired my game before starting vanilla test saves just to see if mods or CC were at fault. Yet the bugs were still present; some of them were even worse after pulling the mods folder. I have no story progression enabled in my game. I use MCCC to slow needs decay for my Sims and the pets. MCCC is also used to tag certain items of clothing and ALL accessories from being used by NPCs yet I am still needing to run a clean up on all Sims in my worlds every Sim day because they always find something ugly and ill-matched to wear. Sims have the dreaded 'jump bug' that we had to deal with in Sims2. And I believe this happened in Sims2 after Seasons was released as well. I could be wrong, it was a long time ago. In my game, this teleporting, or jumping becomes worse after a couple hours of playing. I never just 'save' my game. I always 'save as' under the current game save. Such as Gilmore190 being the last save and Gilmore191 being the newest save and the file numbers progress upward. Once a week I delete older saves and my Sims folder is backed up on an external hard drive and updated at least once a week.
I just know I have been playing the Sims since the franchise was born. And I have learned a lot about how to troubleshoot problems. I have always used CC and mods and I know how to spot mods that will conflict with one another. The bugs my game has right now are not CC or mod related. These bugs are from expansions and patches that were created by EA/Maxis teams. Many of these bugs have been taken care of through the use of mods. And I have seen this question being asked by many Simmers out there: Why is someone who is not associated with EA or Maxis able to fix the seemingly 'impossible or difficult to recreate' bugs and the EA teams can't quite get the job done? My thought on that is very simple. They would probably be able to take care of these problems if EA wasn't pushing the teams to finish game and expansion packs. And the teams are working with fewer members and some of these team members are new to the Sims and trying their best to catch up. No patch in September is fine. Freebies in an update are fine. Bug fixes would be much better though.

I agree with basically everything you said, but I have to ask, when did they give us retextured hairs? All the hair they’ve ever given us have been completely new meshes with completely new designs, especially in the Caribbean patch, those are hairs we’ve never seen before.
I've been having trouble withe clock in my game jumping all over the place. Is there ever a chance of this getting fixed..? It's pretty much the main reason I rarely play.

^ I found number 5 can be solved by resetting the sim.
Number 5 has also been an issue in the game since forever. I have always had issues with Sims standing still while time progresses. Time jumping back has been a well-known issue since release too.
But yes, as someone else mentioned, some bugs are not easy to replicate - in fact, some bugs cannot be replicated at all. If bugs are affecting different people in different ways then it becomes hard or impossible to remove them. A lot of the issues I have seen people mention, I have never experienced in my game.
I think the simple fact of the matter is that some bugs in TS4 will never be fixed, because they just can't.
I don't really have any major bugs in the game, so I am fine with no patch, and having to deal with mod updates. My game runs smooth as silk, and I have been running the same save for the last four years.
Please DO TAKE YOUR TIME! TAKE AS LO~~~~NG AS YOU PREFER Can anyone please be kind enough to post the message directly to all Simgurus' Twitter? As matter a fact why don't they make that update till CLOSE TO THE END OF OCTOBER, since none of them mention which part of October is going to be The Patch Update Date
Well, I said what I needed to in regards to this, a little disappointed but whatever. For the positive though... Since it's gonna be a free content patch, I think it would be pretty cool if there will be a new world. The more space to place Sims, the better!

Eurgh yes this is driving me crazy. It's effecting the needs rates as well making them jump about!

Sims 1: Hot Date
Sims 2: Seasons
Sims 2: Happy Holiday Stuff
Sims 3: Seasons
Sims 3: 70's, 80's, & 90's Stuff
Sims 4: Seasons
Sims 4: Paranormal Stuff
Sims 4: Strangerville Game Pack
Not exactly a ringing endorsement of EA's competence.
Yikes! I've been lucky. Thanks for the warning.
Oh yes, the free content is most definitely a distraction. They want to throw the idea of new paid content and free content at us so that we will forget about the current issues.
In all reality, the October patch will be lackluster even with the extra month they took.
Bug fixes? *snorts* Most of their bug fixes don't even work.
If we're getting new DLC this year (probably November to take advantage of the Winterfest shopping season

This happens to me when using Speed 4.
You haven't noticed the Leaf Pile glitch?
I literally play this music above when playing Sims 4! Cozy and Fuzzy

Eurgh yes this is driving me crazy. It's effecting the needs rates as well making them jump about!
