Imaginary Friend and Romance...

My sim had an imaginary friend who she started a romance with. They're now boyfriend and girlfriend but under the dance interaction "slow dance" is faded out and it's reasoning says "Your sim does not want to slow dance with them!". Also, there's a winter formal dance coming up... is there a way to have my sim take her IF to the dance? (I don't care if she looks crazy 
). If not, and I send her alone, would it create a new romance at the dance? I guess an option would be to turn it real but I've been working on that for ages, haven't yet found a potion or gem. Any advice would help thanks!
