Weird Scouting Ceremony Glitch

The weirdest thing just happened. My child Sim was due to go to her scout ceremony. As she left, the music that accompanies an accomplished opportunity played. And again. And again. The number of scout badges she had kept climbing and climbing... eventually I reset all Sims. Oh yeah, and the opportunity was still there, so I cancelled it. Problem solved. Except my kid Sim had 126 scout badges... I sold 125 of them and made over 12,000 simoleons haha.
The only thing that I can think of that may have messed it up was that the child in question was no longer attending the town school, she was enrolled in boarding school. The game does now seem to be running fine, no issues, no more music playing... it was just weird!!!
