Not really. Your theory kinda ignores the fact that they've skipped a BUNCH of packs on sims 3 timeline.
No, you're missing my point here. I 'guess' that for me, in my own opinion, we'll never ever gonna that number of EPs compare to the previous title. You see, we have gamepacks, right? In which some cool themes and ideas that could have been expansion packs too have been downsized to a game pack, which I supposed that from Generations to Parenthood, right?, since in which for the record that the devs have said that generations haven't actually got that popular so it didn't sold well...... and for some supernatural occult such as Vampires, their true intents to why they have decided to have this it's dedicated pack are to add more depth and sense and detail to the vampire life state in which it have turned out really good as well.
And the current sims team are only trying to make 'expansions' for the game that'll be 'groundbreaking' or should sell very well. They want the majority of the game to enjoy it, not just the minority who really want it so bad. And what if there are people who like supernatural a lot but others don't, pretty sure that we can have it as game pack. Cause' why take a chance. I really think that It'll be risky for them to decide to have it as an expansion.
My only hopes for the expansions for this games were University and Island Paradise. Cause I'm highly assuming that these EPs may not be the bests.... but just the most important. And now that we got Seasons and only if they still follow the 'pattern' for this expansions....
I don't think University is next or soon for that matter. If they do listen and want to do things better and/or differently, then they may take a good long time to develop an Education pack that not only includes University, but also lower grades as well.
Well, if that's the case, then with one EP a year, and Uni being next, then they have the so called three year plan covered. lol Uni, and island or paradise vacation EP and maybe another like Into the Future. Three years..there you go!

I never got University for TS3, so I’d be interested to get it for TS4. Especially as I am at University myself.
Literally the only pack in the entire sims franchise I purchased, then uninstalled. I think the pack had potential, for sure, but I got so annoyed with the "social groups" gameplay feature. It didn't understand it, and really disliked that it was forced. I did like aspects of it though. So what I hope is that the team takes the good aspects (majors, dorms, sororities etc) and expand on those and make them even better.
Back to the topic of the tread: interesting hints OP! The team did say they were doing this differently this time around, and they have more than backed that up with what they've released. So here's to an awesome University EP!
I hope so. University and Farming would make TS4 complete to me.

I don't want a pack just focused on University like the previous versions. Hopefully we'll see an Education pack with university features but that also encompasses changes to elementary and high school that would include open classrooms and an active education career.
I'd love an education themed pack not just university, but one that included all types of education. For example, daycare center, High school and elementary school, even if these were not "playable" all the time, maybe certain days and times playable so there was some level of autonomy still. So if you joined an after school club that would be playable, playable field trips and school dances / sports events etc. As for a uni aspect, should maybe have a community college, so you could do classes around your job which would be fab for story telling. Add an education career path please!! I have just built a school in my game, and I feel so sad that I have to create a scenario for sims to visit and then all the townies come and ergh, ruin the feel. would be amazing if it worked correctly. I do like the university traditional packs, but feel they can almost seem like a mini game within the game rather than an integrated play element, especially when you have to live away and in a whole different neighborhood.
Besides breaking up World Adventures, Generations and Supernatural into smaller packs and completely skipping Showtime it looks like they have been following that pattern.
Calling Parenthood akin to generations is a stretch. They're nothing a like. Generations is about expanding the different life stages. Parenthood is about raising children and affecting their lives as adults.
I don’t think it’s that big of a stretch. Sure the focus of PH is much narrower than the Generations expansion, but the themes of PH were present in Generations in one way or another. So I do consider them alike in many ways, obviously the gameplay element is different but that’s the case with every revisited theme.

We have seen already in Sims 4 that the broader their focus the shallower the associated gameplay gets. Sure making a huge education pack containing stuff for all levels of education may sound like a great pack, but there’s no way they could pull that off in a way that does any of it justice.

Uni in TS3 looked spectacular, the uni related activities worked well. It's unlikely that TS4 will have a better version, though. It's a good challenge for the developers. I'd like to see them manage it, after all, look what they did with vampires, they can come up with some pretty spectacular stuff sometimes.
S3 also had a lot of issues. I was always difficult to get my sim to stop whatever they were doing and go to class and get there on time. No matter how early I sent them. there was always a bottleneck of other students in the one door of that classroom building shell (remember, they were shells back then, too), By the time my sim routed through the group, class would be over.
Plus, I hated the social groups. In theory, they were fine and a good idea, but they took over with tons of notifications popping up over and over.
Loved all the objects like pool table, ping pong table, vending machines and the comic book store. We already have tagging in CL, so that's done.
But on a more serious note, why do we have to live on campus in the Sims? I've been to uni and my carers drove me. (I live in supported accommodation, due to Asperger's.) I don't think we have much on-campus living here in Australia.
I just wish I knew what was next. It's just a shame EA's "Cone of Silence" is not as *ahem* good as Get Smart's.
