Can ghosts get sick?

I just added the ghost of a Mayor Whiskers to my household and he’s an elder. My last cat got sick every day he was an elder, so I was hoping that ghost cats wouldn’t get sick.

Yes, they can. In The Sims, being dead doesn't save anybody from illnesses.

I think they do, I remember downloading a pack of all the icons of TS4 for some mod and it had the ghosts moodlets icons and so, I don’t remember seeing them all, but I think they might get sick

I’ve been playing with ghost Mayor Whiskers for a while now and he’s not got sick once. So, perhaps ghost pets can’t get sick? He is an elder and, in my experience, elder pets frequently get sick.

So, it turns out that ghost pets definitely do not get sick, in case anyone wants to know. Mayor Whiskers has been around for quite a few in-game years now, and has not gotten a single illness, despite being an elder. Living pets, especially elders, seem to get sick quite often for me, so I am guessing he is not getting sick because he is a ghost. The one thing I disliked about cats and dogs was the frequency of their illnesses, but having a ghost pet seems to be a loophole!

@Tessgirls I think ghost sims will still get sick as someone earlier in this thread says that they do (haven’t checked it out myself though). But, I think that ghost pets specifically do not.

I never understood why ghosts can even get sick at all. I mean, the only ghost I can see being able to get sick all the time is the ghost that died from the rodent disease. Then again, I also don't understand why ghosts still have to take care of most of their needs like a regular sim either.

I've played with a couple of ghosts before and I've never had one get sick.

@paradiseplanet it also annoys me that ghosts have to eat, sleep, go to the toilet, shower. I mean, social I can see they might still want, but surely those other things require a body! Still, at least cat ghosts don’t get sick though my vampires do get sick which I also think is silly.

Interesting @AHolyToilet were they normal sim ghosts, or pets? I haven’t played too much with the ghosts of normal sims.

My adopted dog named Sprig died and I kept around the ashes. Soon enough he came out of his little pet coffin and a load of fleas came with him!!! However, I tried to take him to the vet and when I go to check him in it says I have no eligible pets to treat. Does anyone know how to help him?

Have you tried putting up a vet thingy at your home and curing him yourself?

I think the entire way ghosts are handled in the game since Sims3 is unfortunate and silly. If you're dead, you're dead. You shouldn't have a need for sleep, to eat, which would lead to having to empty a bladder. Criminnetlly, it's just goofy.

@Pyxillis it sounds as though that’s a bug! I’ve only played with ghost cats, but I assume that ghost dogs would function in the same way. I’ve played with ghost cats in two save games and both of the cats have been ghosts for a period of time spanning several generations of their human family. Neither have ever gotten sick.

Did the dog have fleas when he died? It could be that if they die while sick, they stay sick. You could bring him back to life with the ambrosia treat if you can’t cure him of his fleas while he is a ghost.

This is unfortunately true they only thing they got right with ghosts is that they don’t become sick.

my ghost pet in sims 4 is sick i took her to the vet it wont let me sign in i go a wellness treat and i could not give it to her. can anyone find a reason why? also i have 3 stuff packs, i forgot how many game packs, 1 free pack, and 2 others *including cats and dogs*

oop. when i went home somehow she got cured. maybe she was sick of being home until i went there but she did not wanna be there
