And thought I would simply make a tutorial in a thread.

This is a very detailed tutorial.
And consists of 33 images. Hope no body minds that.

So I hope you all enjoy it

    Hey everyone.
Welcome to this tutorial, where you will learn how to create angled arched bridges.

This tutorial is very easy, as well as detailed, which makes it perfect for beginners.

Hope you all enjoy this tutorial, and find it good. Now let’s start shall we?

    01_Flatteningjpg.jpg

Okay, first you should be in a lot, and as you can see I am in one.

Now, go to the terrain tools section, and click “Flatten Lot” option as shown above.

This is a really important step, as it will avoid problems while making the bridge.

The reason is that the lots are not actually leveled as they seem, so performing this step before making any lot, not only the bridge, would make it easier to build houses.

    02_Applyingfoundationsjpg.jpg

Okay, next step, put the main foundations. For this one you will need a foundation size of 2x1, and you should place one vertically, and one horizontally, with a space difference of 3 squares.

    03_Applyingfoundationsresultjpg.jpg

The result should look like the above picture.
So as I mentioned before a space of 3 squares between those 2 foundations.

And a space of 4 in the back side, as I added an extra square on the other ends of the bridge design.

    04_Surroundingfoundationsjpg.jpg

Now, let’s design the bridge. Surround the bridge you want to design by foundations. Like above.

    05_Surroundingfoundationsresultjpg.jpg

    Here is the result.

Why did I do this, is to be able to put floors, and fences without having them removed.

    06_Decoratingthebridgejpg.jpg

Now apply what you want for your bridge from flooring, fencing and stairs also.

TIP: Its better you do not use tiles and mosaic for this type of bridges, as they will show that the bridge looks lumpy.

    07_Removingfoundationsjpg.jpg

Okay, now delete those surrounding foundations, not the foundations of the bridge itself.

Notice: Delete the foundations in the way you applied them, if you just drag and delete, you might also delete the floors as well.

    08_Removingfoundationsresultjpg.jpg

    Here is the result.

    09_Selectingshortfencesjpg.jpg

Now go back again to the fences section, and select any short fence. I selected the one shown above, as I find it convenient and very easy to be seen.

    010_Applyingshortfencesjpg.jpg

Now under the bridge, apply those fences, so that to line the design.

    011_Applyingshortfencesresultjpg.jpg

The result should look like this. This step is pretty useful, as it will make it easier for you to work rather than going up and down to ensure that what you are doing is being applied.

Notice: These fences will get deleted.

    012_Typingthecheatjpg.jpg

It’s time for the tricks work. So, open the cheat box by clicking the combination “Ctrl+Shift+C” and type the cheat:

    constrainFloorElevation false

    As shown above.

    013_Selectingtheterraintoolsjpg.jpg

Then go back again to terrain tools section. Select the “Raise Terrain” option, and set the terrain shape to a square.

    014_Usingtheterraintoolsstep1jpg.jpg

Now start rising. One click for all over the ground specifically under the bridge.( if you want to know specifically the space I raised, see page )

Warning: Do not use the leveler to quickly raise the ground.

    015_Warningjpg.jpg

Continue warning: As if you use it like this.

    016_Warningresultjpg.jpg

Continue warning: This will be the result.

    017_Usingterraintoolsstep2resultjpg.jpg

Back to our work. So now I raised the terrain under the bridge, if you want to know the space I raised.
    I raised a 5x5 square.

    018_Extrainfoaboutresultforstep1jpg.jpg

Here, as shown it’s a 5x5 square, colored with red, so no need to raise the full ground.

    019_Usingterraintoolsstep2jpg.jpg

So this is the first rising level, now the next rising level is same is the first one, except that we will only raise a space of 4x4 squares under the bridge, and only by one click for each space in that square.

    020_Resultofusingterraintoolsstep2j.jpg

    021_Extrainfoaboutresultforstep2jpg.jpg

    Here is the result.
It’s colored in here so that you can clearly see how much space I raised.

    022_Noticeofoverraisedflooringjpg.jpg

Go up, and see your bridge. As you can see in the picture, a floor might get over raised.

    023_Usinglevelertofixoverraisedfloo.jpg

So to level that, use the “Level Terrain” in the terrain tools section.
    Apply that as shown earlier.

    024_Resultofusingthelevelertofixove.jpg

And here is the result. It’s leveled, and also useable.

    025_Removingfloorsunderthebridgejpg.jpg

Now delete the flooring applied under the bridge.

    026_Removingthefencesunderthebridge.jpg

    And delete those white fences.

    027_Typingthecheatafterfinishingthe.jpg

Open cheat box “Ctrl+Shift+C” and type the cheat:

    constrainFloorElevation true

    028_Levelingthegroundjpg.jpg

Then back to the terrain tools section, and select the “Level Terrain” tool.
And level the ground from under the bridge.

    029_Resultoflevelingthegroundjpg.jpg

So the ground will be leveled as shown.

    030_Resultafterdoingthepreviousstep.jpg

And congratulations you just made an angled arched bridge.
And to make it look prettier. Apply water from under, and surround it with some shrubs and flowers.

    031_Afterdecoratingjpg.jpg

    032_Anoverviewjpg.jpg

    And here it is.

TIP: When you get your Sim to go to the other side of the bridge, they will not cross it unless you tell them to “Go Here” on the bridge and then let them “Go Here” on the other side.

Hope you all enjoyed this tutorial.
    And found it useful.

Well it wasn't really my idea..more of something I needed. It was more of a group suggestion from some others in the Showcase your Lots workshop. But still, you were able to come up with the solution so thanx again :D

    But you wanted it first.
So the idea started from you, then became part of a team.

Well, it was so fun to be able to make it.
    I enjoyed this tutorial.

I hope you find it useful.

    Lol Benny.

Congrats on the first arched bridge.
Tell me did you find it difficult?

As if you found it like that
I wouldn't mind making an easier detailed one.

Well, anyway, hope you enjoy this one.
And hope you find it useful and easy.

Hmmm Light... do you think this could be turned into something spiraled around some other structure? Like rocks or trees? Now that you have experiences with it I mean. I cannot test this right now, because I'm busy with my cave.

EDIT: I don't mean a PERFECT spiral, but something spiral-like...

The normal curved bridges wasn't too bad I think I need more practice at getting the floor raising right :) I always get excited when I see somthing new that I can try :D

    Hey Light My Friend,

    Great tutorial!

I'm not ready to use this in a build yet but some day soon. I'm certainly bookmarking for future reference.

Thanks much for your contributions to the community. Also, thanks for sharing that on my thread too.

    I didn't get you Asante.
Do you mean you want it to be twisted around a building or something?

Or do you want the stairs to be angled to? (not possible though)
    *Wondering mode*

Nooo not the stairs light... just the walkway part. I mean, I know it's possible to connect different levels with such archways. Just never tried getting a curve in it.

    To filder:

Thank you so much my friend.

So you just want it to look more circular?
And around a rock or something like that.

Sorry if I sound so dump.
I don't know where did my receiver go. lol.

So you want it to connect the ground with the house?
So it goes up only rather than going up then down?

I think I started to get you.
so you want it a bit spiral to connect the ground with something.

    I am avoiding my palace.
Still wondering if i should continue ot just upload it unfurnished.
