Hello!
So, I don’t know how other simmers feel about this, but I’ve been thinking about this a lot. I would love to see seasonal festivals back in the Sims 4, similar to the seasonal festivals in Sims 3. Maybe a Carnival or Festival Game Pack. I loved having the festivals in San Myshuno and I would love to see more festivals related to the seasons as something extra to do for fun. There could be a new lot type called ‘Festival Grounds’ where these events will take place. In the calendar, it could be like a tradition or an option that we can check on/off, like “Attend Seasonal Festival” so that it generates in the parks or festival grounds. Maybe we could create our own carnival. I also miss having a stage area for musicians (or magicians/acrobats) to perform and maybe host concerts and performances, while sims could watch, react, throw things at the performers, etc. Contests could be held on these stages like karaoke or dance contests. (Some suggestions would also be good for a theme park vacation world
)
Below, I included descriptions of what would take place in the events and some visuals in the spoilers for each one
Spooky Festival: Spooky decor, Haunted houses, dressing up in new costumes, trick or treating throughout the park, spooky parade, fog machines, spooky music and group dances (like the thriller dance), wooden rollercoaster, contests like apple bobbing and pumpkin carving, spooky themed face-in-hole photo board, face painting booth, creepy people scaring others, festive drinks like candy corn drinks and pumpkin spice lattes, festive foods like pumpkin pie and candy apples, finding porcelain dolls instead of gnomes showing up, creepy carnival tent with magic shows, spooky themed acrobat performances, etc), meet Patchy
Fall Festival Visuals:
New Attire/Costumes/Styles:
Spring Festival: Community Egg Hunt, meet the Flower Bunny, buying flower arrangements and maybe even edible arrangements from gardeners, The annual fair comes to town with carnival games and prizes, fair rides like tilt-a-whirl, swinging chairs, carousel, funny themed face-in-hole photo board, Kissing booths, dunk-a-clown, Fair foods like elephant ears, corn dogs, popcorn, cinnamon rolls, giant turkey legs, fried oreos and other fried foods, cotton candy, corn on the cob, etc. Acrobat/dance performances and paint parades.
Spring Festival Visuals:
New Attire/Costumes/Styles:
Summer Cook-Out Festival: BBQ, cooking contests, eating contests, ice cream and food trucks, Foam machines to play with (or props for concerts), annual food fights (like throwing tomatoes or pies), funny themed face-in-hole photo board, picnics, new drinks like strawberry lemonade, fruits in water (floating strawberries, lemons, cucumbers in water), iced tea, sangria, smoothies and milkshakes (would require blenders/juicers), lemonade and snow cone stands, life size hamster ball for sims to run around in, fireworks show, giant slide (like the euroslide), concerts for sims to attend (like a music festival), tanning booths, lounge chairs/hammocks, roller skating rinks, funny food presentations like the watermelon shark head
Summer Festival Visuals:
New Attire/Costumes/Styles:
Winter Festival: Decorate winter cookies and gingerbread houses, snowpal contest, baking contest, winter themed face-in-hole photo board, drinking festive drinks (gingerbread lattes, peppermint mocha, hot chocolate, eggnog, coquito, etc.), winter decor, winter parade, ice skating rinks, bon fires, sing-alongs, lighting up the giant community tree for the holidays, carriage rides, Mistletoes on ceilings or mistletoe gazebos where sims can passionately kiss underneath, Kids + teens can potentially see reindeer + father winter in the sky, Meet + Greet with Father Winter, Father Winter’s Mailbox (for sims to send letters of what gifts they would like for the holidays or write down New Year’s Resolutions)

Just wanted to get the idea out there and see how people feel about it.

Just looked through your thread, & I Love it!
My idea is more for occasional festivals, but I think it would be cool to have your idea as a destination world. Maybe if they add a theme park as a vacation world, there could be a district for a more low-key gothic carnival by the sea for those simmers who aren't into the cheesiness of a super cheerful and cartoonish amusement park (like a Disney World). Basically having the best of both worlds
But if they don't do a destination world for theme parks, some of the themes mentioned in your thread could go well with the fall/spooky carnival idea, especially near the Brindleton Bay beaches or by the Bluffs.
This post is amazing. This just shows all the amazing things that still need to be added to the Sims 4. I hope they add the seasonal festivals you mentioned. Since they finished the seasons expansion pack already, hopefully they will add it in a future game pack or expansion pack that includes festivals, fairs, or carnivals like you said. I would love a theme park expansion pack!! I hope a guru sees this post and makes it happen for us!
I'd like to see more consequences, personally. Bring people together doesn't always have the best turnout and I'd like my game to reflect that.
I'll take more lifestates too.
I guess, but I'm one of those people that likes to have large group get together, so anything I could get would be nice. I liked having the option to go to the seasonal festivals in Sims 3. & I love the fact that seasons EP is kind of forcing my sims to go outdoors more. At least in my game, they're always on the computers or playing video games indoors, not really interacting with each other. That's why I'd like more community contests, activities, and games where sims can earn rewards or have new things to attend, like concerts, magic shows, and the fair. Who knows? It could be interesting. Maybe someone who loses a contest could get angry and try to fight someone. Maybe a magic trick gone wrong or attempting to ride a broken or rusty ride can cause a new death type. It could introduce a 'fear' emotion to have sims get scared to death or something.
I'd like more consequences and lifestates as well.
I like when the game is unpredictable (except those evil gnomes who almost killed my sim because it didn't appreciate the fruitcake I gave it).
I'm waiting for more supernaturals to come out already. I want witches and werewolves in my game already
I've been pushing for a revamp of Makin' Magic with the Spooky carnival and games. We just got the evil gnomes in Seasons. I can't imagine how great it would be in this version.
Oh I see ..
I got this idea after visiting the park during the winter and seeing it empty. Then again during spring and there were no festivities going on. I thought the egg hunt would be a community thing where everyone is looking for eggs or that the Flower Bunny would show up and you'd see a group of kids trying to talk to it. Wishful thinking I guess lol I feel that was the only thing lacking in Seasons. (Not to mention that the Flower Bunny never actually showed up either in any lot that I went to).
I never got to play Sims Makin' Magic, but I've heard really good things about it. Also, I despise those gnomes I'm terrified for Harvestfest because of the gnomes, but I don't want to take out the gnome tradition since it was super unpredictable and hilarious to me that I made everything worse by kicking it.
I still think it would be fun to have at least a Concert venue or The Fair so that Sims can go and have some fun whenever they please, with fun rides, good music, and fried foods. It's cute date idea and a great place for teens to go. I would've liked to see seasonal festivals however, especially a spooky carnival with a haunted house. Maybe what they could do is have a Theme Park destination world and depending on the season, the aesthetics of the theme park can vary with decorations, like they do in Disney World for example. It looks different during the Fall (Not-So-Spooky Halloween) vs Winter. And for those who like the creepy carnival vibes, there could be an abandoned carnival section by the sea and boardwalk (that is either hidden or accessible through the map). I think it would actually be a really cool idea (and challenge) for Sims series.
I would like to see more entertainment careers like the magicians, bands, acrobats, etc. Although I disagree on the rabbit hole, because I'd want to see sims actually sit down and be amused by a performance. I also miss them throwing things at the performers LOL .
Yes! I think it would be a lot of fun to have a county fair for our sims
Like I said in the previous comment, if they don't want to do seasonal festivals like they did in Sims 3, then I think if there was a theme park destination world, it would be a really good opportunity for a kid-friendly vacation since Selvadorada is a bit dangerous for families (in my opinion) and I always take sims camping. It could include seasonal decorations as well as the fun amusement park rides and foods. Although, I would still like a cheaper alternative as well (like the county fair), if sims can't afford to go on vacation due to high costs or no vacation days left. They could travel to the county fair which would be a smaller but still fun place to go for rides, foods, and entertainment.
There is no real community stuff happening other than the invites to raves or the bar for a special night out.
You put it that way and it really pinpoints how unsuccessful the "life" simulation is.
I don't think that I can recall any game in the series where the un-played Sims are so...disconnected. Unless it's food, they show so little interest in the world and activities around them.
I wish that TS4 could feel more more alive.
I agree with your comment. That is why I felt that the festivals from City Living were so successful in bringing the community together or at least making it seem like there is a community. Of course, it was because there was food, but they also watch someone playing an instrument, play basketball, try out the bubble blower, etc. Get Together obviously made it easier to have gatherings, outings, and clubs also.
Maybe festivals would be too much of a repetitive concept but I would like to see more group activities and new venue types for group activities to add some more excitement to the sims, like the county fair or a concert venue. Maybe we could get new content, like a haunted house, booths, face painting, etc. so we could decorate the venue so that it seems like a seasonal festival is going on.
My sim actually got invited to another sims birthday party
Kissing booth
dance floor slow dance where your sims can win and become spring fling king/queen like i the sims 3 and you get the crown as decor like ts3
holiday greeting card photos gos i miss these so much such a nice personalized decor item
and with each activity you get those festival tickets to redeem for new items loved that
snowboarding half pipe
and the option to twirl together while skating on the rinks
this and your ideas combined could be an amazing gamepack i think
I do get invites all the time in the game. just so much work because its boring to go to them unless you can try to make them fun.
the hosts just don't do much other than chat to you.
Thank you! The sims 3 festivals were so cute. I do like the city living festivals. But seasonal festivals, however, are something that become like traditions, especially with little contests where you can see sims compete against each other. That's probably why I like the Spice Festival the most, because it has that spicy food challenge. Although, I know, it's not really a contest since you don't see them competing/reacting to each other and people aren't watching those contestants. I like the ideas you mentioned I think it would be nice to see these things in the game. ESPECIALLY the twirling together on the rinks. I want to see more interactions in the skating rinks, like two sims twirling, holding hands while skating, or helping a sim out that doesn't know how to skate as well.
I see what you mean, but not everything happens just in our home lots. The egg hunting can happen anywhere as long as you click on bushes or other items to look for eggs and I've read people's comments about the flower bunny showing up at other locations instead of their home lot. The flower bunny never showed up in my sim's home lot, before or after looking for it in other lots. There are group outings that sims get invited to or that your sim can invite friends/family to, especially with the club system. You can host a party in any lot and like the other comments mentioned, sometimes sims get invited to other parties or events. I get invited to festivals, special nights at the bar, parties, and rabbit hole events all the time. The bar hosts karaoke contests after the romance festival. There are things that sims can do to give the sense of community, but it would be nice to have more activities to encourage that more. Like you said, the game is single-lot oriented, but I don't really see why that would be such an issue, since festivals could happen at the park and we know that the game can already generate festivals and rinks to non-accessible areas on the maps or even in the parks. Maybe having a whole fair/festival going on outside your home/apartment would slow down the game since there would be too much happening on one lot, but they can also just create a new lot/venue type, like festival grounds or fairgrounds, and include new items so that we can create our own.
Yeah, that's true. It's something I would've liked to see in the Seasons pack originally. So maybe instead of just introducing seasonal festivals, Maybe a Fair pack would be something that could include more seasonal items as well as brand new content and activities for our sims, like a county fair for residential worlds or a theme park world for a vacation desitination (or both), that could include contests, concerts, new careers/hobbies, fun rides and rollercoasters, etc. That way it could be decorated for the different seasons but be there all year round, providing a different experience in aesthetics and activities depending on when you go.
*Desired details
You could have all the fun amusement park rides and attractions like:
A Carnival Game area perhaps in a midway/boardwalk setting. Some games award traditional prizes for winning
**And make them year round features.**
Then in certain sections you could have buildings and attractions that change with the seasons. Unlockable when you have Seasons purchased
Then most importantly decor in the select changeable areas would also change with the seasons or perhaps even the whole town be made to do it. Especially the gate entrance to the carnival and the fencing.
Food Carts and Booth Foods
I would also like to add a few carnie NPC's
Lastly I would make the suggestion for two new Professions
I don’t know if they’d use a whole neighborhood without it being a destination pack. In that case, If it’s a destination, I’d also want it to be like a theme park with themed souvenirs and ice cream popsicles. Maybe llama and freezer bunny souvenirs/shaped foods and mascots. If it’s a giant lot in a residential world, more like a county fair. I think either way, it would be a game changing pack.
@rosehrtgirl that’s true. It could mostly be a festival pack and Maybe seasonal stuff can come in a patch or just like how if you bought the first pet stuff pack, you’d need the cats and dogs to unlock the full content but I don’t know if people would be too thrilled about that.
Yes definitely! that would be awesome. That idea would go well with the ideas/aesthetics that @Movotti mentioned. I haven't played Makin' Magic but if they bring the same (or similar) concept to the Sims 4, that could be really exciting. If it becomes a carnival neighborhood like mentioned in the previous comments, it would be cool to have the main happy looking carnival and then a section for the creepier, forbidden, abandoned looking carnival that our brave sims could venture off to (or something that resembles a traveling carnival/boardwalk carnival). Maybe that can bring back a revamped version of the 🐸🐸🐸🐸's wagon.
