Sims obsessive over dogs

An issue I've gotten in recent patches (seems like the seasons patch) is that my sims have become obsessive over their dogs. They will completely fill up their queue with interactions with their dogs and it's driving me insane. Because no matter what, they'll drop whatever they're doing to go mess with it. I couldn't even get one of my sims to sit down and eat cause he'll take 1 bite, stop eating, and play with the dog, and I spent over 10 minutes irl to try to get him to finish one meal.
