I recently got a new tablet so I can finally play Sims Mobile. Is there anything I should know before I dig in? Can I reset if I become unsatisfied with my current game?

Happy sims mobile simming!
You can’t reset your current game, unless you completely uninstall the app and if you haven’t linked your save files progress to be backed up.

Though you can't reset as Rosemow said, you can retire Sims to make way for new ones, and completely demolish your house (everything goes into storage so you don't have to repurchase anything, even wallpaper!) which enables you to essentially renovate your entire game when you want to.
Hope you enjoy the game!
