I appreciate the update, I'd just like to know what's coming so I can at least try to get excited about the game again. June is still 2 months away...

EA Play is next month, June 9th. Only 5 weeks to go. :)

I don't buy it, but I will remain cautiously optimistic.

I just don't understand how things were going so well (like the best they ever have in TS4) - you were on a winning streak with Toddlers, Parenthood, Pets and arguably the best GP and SP of the series this year alone (JA and LD). And then this... Silence. No new content or update in sight. Do you not understand that this makes even your most die-hard collectors and supporters nervous, and actually hesitant to remain involved? MFP did garner a lot of negative feedback, but surely the feedback during launch was worse!? I don't understand why Drake's leaving has had to mean silence.

Probably because after 3 packs in 3 months they simply don't have anything in the pipeline for the next weeks. What news are people always expecting?

I have to say, being involved in the Sims fandom hasn't really been easy these past couple of months. I mean, trolls have always been a pain, and so have those Simmers who are always whining "I want [insert type of content here] exactly the way I want it, and I want it NOW!" But this information drought seems to have made the situation worse. I've been feeling pretty bad for the Simmers who have YouTube and/or Twitch channels, and the Simmers who run community fansites, because they haven't had any news to report on for a while, and being able to make fresh content on a consistent basis is essential for internet personalities to stay relevant. When these rumors of doom and gloom started popping up, I took them with a grain of salt, but that made it difficult to have rational conversations with other Simmers who simply bought into them without question.

I think it's understandable that, without someone in charge of PR, the company would clamp down on what information could be made available to the customer base in order to avoid the risk of somebody accidentally saying something that could cause problems. However, in this case, it seems like silence has almost caused as many problems as if someone had said the wrong thing because the few scraps of information that we got -- which were mostly about corporate restructuring and employees leaving -- were not good news. I'm not trying to cast blame or anything because when SimGuruDrake left and the decision was made to go into information lockdown, there's no way anyone at Maxis could have known the future and predicted how the fandom would react.

I'm looking forward to whatever news comes out of EA Play in June, but it's going to be a long wait until then. In the meantime, thank you for caring enough about the Simmer community to offer some reassurance.

I'm not exactly convinced things aren't winding down for TS4.

I haven't seen anything I would want to play in TS4 since the release of Vampires which was some time ago. Nov. 2017 and Feb. 2018 released packs I had no interest in.

Just because you don’t like the content, doesn’t mean the game is winding down.

That’s an odd way to look at things, and is how rumors start when people make assumptions based on their own personal feelings and then try to relay them as statements.

That’s how the last few weeks of doom and gloom started.

So, yes, I am going with this as a great sign:
"What was expressed to me was that, while we aren’t going to discuss or refute rumors and speculation point for point (which I’d really suggest approaching with a healthy dose of skepticism), it’s totally fine to reiterate publicly shared info that yes, The Sims 4 continues to be a genuine success, and there’s plenty to look forward to on the PC in the future." <-- SimGuruGraham

Because she made the Quarterly teaser and she was not here to do that. One of the moderators even explained that.

I really appreciate this. I'm thankful, @SimGuruGraham, that you felt comfortable enough to ask. I know that isn't always easy. This does help ease the discomfort I've felt towards the sims now for a month. Though I've been busy, I've not felt like playing sims in my off times because of the feeling that it might end, despite the fact we had NO facts in regards to this. So, I'm looking forward to what is coming next. <3

What a surprise, the franchise isn't ending! Hopefully this will calm down the speculation from the past few weeks that got completely out of hand.

ETA: For those who are unhappy with how "vague" Graham's statement sounds, the whole point of it is that the team knows they have to put their best foot forward when interacting with the fans and want to play it safe until a professional Community Manager is back to help coordinate those efforts. These sorts of hires don't happen overnight, and we all know how difficult it can be to strike the right balance when dealing with the Simming community, so they want to find the right person and don't want to put their feet in their mouths before then!

@stilljustme2 I just listened to the video you posted from SimsVIP and there is one mention of new content planned for PC, but mostly, the video reiterates the Sims Mobile in 3 places, and at length. Then at the end, it really closes with how exciting it is for us.
I just want to add to this thread and state that I am not excited to hear news on Sims Mobile over the Sims 4. And I'm not talking about in the context of this thread- more like on my plane of exsistence. Sims Mobile was cool the first day, but nothing beats the PC version of The Sims games . I would rather have NO updates than to hear Sims Mobile updates if there are not going to be updates on the Sims 4.

I was actually holding this in because I don't want to come across as negative, but because we are not getting any news on Sims 4 right now, which is fine since Graham has explained, then I don't want to be pushed with Sims Mobile news. If there's enough time for multiple people to be going on about the Sims Mobile experience, I feel like at least one of them could hit TheSims4.com News section with some basic update about the Sims4. Even a creative article since there is no content to announce.

Since this is The Sims 4, and the topic is 'updates regarding the topic of The Sims 4', I will also add that I do trust the developers, but no one can speak for publisher EA - (except EA.) And they have a reputation for pushing games on people with multiplayer and in-game purchases, plus severing the most creative studios. Mobile games are highly lucrative and 'The Sims' brand name turns a quick dollar. Faster than any expansion pack or stuff pack everybody is wanting. Those are like $10~20 a pop, or $40 for an expansion. The in-game assets for mobile games are seen by a larger audience and easily produced, plus go for an upwards of $10, 20 or 30. No one else thinks it's obvious that since Sims Mobile came out, everything else just kind of took a backseat? Even parents don't shun their other children for a newborn baby that hard. It's like the game turned 18 in Feb., so it's getting thrown out of the house to fend for itself.

Wanted to add my thanks for the positive info which somewhat dispels the gloomy cloud. So perhaps I can get back to playing! Did try the mobile game but it ended up a "no" for me. The only games I can play on my phone are those casino games.

Actually this site and forum is for ALL the Sims games and that CEO of EA was addressing all people involved in all EA's business during the Earning call Conference, in which he also mentions all the games EA makes if you actually listen to the entire conference call. EA is not going to just address the Sims 4 - Maxis is not going to just address the Sims 4 either on a forum made for all Sims games and discussion about the Sims - regardless of what game it is - is very appropriate on "the SIMS" forum. Look at the top of the page on the over head banner it just says THE SIMS - not the sims 4. So whether or not you want to hear of the other Sims games you don't play - if you want to hear about the one you do play - then you sort of have no choice but to listen to what they offer - even if it does not in any way affect you.

It's just the way it is if you want to actually hear what is planned for the games you do play.

Also all companies push their products - not just EA. I am sure many people who listen to the conference may not even play any sims game - even some do not game at all and are only interested in the business part of the game. All that is covered in a Conference call for all people who buy the games , the stocks, or even those who just support the business itself, or people who just want to see what EA has to say period. EA is reporting - not addressing any particular thing - but everything this quarter and this past fiscal year period.

Andrew also mentions that a time or two more in the Questions and Answer section of the conference from different Investors. I still had to laugh as even the investors were told to tune into the EAPlay Conference on June 9th at 11 am to get all their questions answers - when they asked for more info on various games. So EA does not even give the investors more info than they give us. I found that seriously funny - but at the same time felt good to see we do matter as much as the investors matter - and no one gets more info than the other. That was sort of satisfying - to me - to see that though.

Just wanted to address and clarify that within the context of the thread, and the original link regarding that video --- that was in response to some expressing caution in the posts prior. As a rebuttal to those expressing their concern, the video in question was shared, I think as an affirmation. BUT it was a little too heavy on Sims Mobile news, which from my perspective felt like it was validating the concerns of those who do not want to celebrate just yet.
Also, I agree that everything Sims-related is welcome, but in my opinion, which was expressed within the environment of the thread deliberating the update situation, it does seem like now is not the best time to make a strong push for anything that falls under the umbrella of Sims Mobile. It was the enthusiasm for it in the video coupled with the lack of thereof for the PC iteration that I found disheartening.

I wanted to respond and make sure that the thread stays very on topic so a part of the conversation doesn't get trimmed for being off the subject matter, because I think it's important to hear what I said and what you just said too, @Writin_Reg
