Are You Buying the Jungle Adventure Game Pack?

I voted no, as it doesn't really resonate with me initially. However, I probably should've voted Yes, because I still may pick it up if it's on sale at a later date, which is what I've done with other packs that don't grab me at the first. :D

I just recently saw the trailer and was really unimpressed. This is a no for me. The theme, gameplay, and the overall World Adventure feel is simply a no for me. Maybe the next one (crossing fingers for a love or school pack <3). For now I'll be busy with FFXIV  .

Funnily enough, I'm currently busy with FFXIV as well, which may have made me more likely to say no, I'm not buying this pack (at this time, anyway). :D

The only game pack I currently own is Parenthood so I won't rush out to buy it. There are a couple of other bundles I've been eyeing up recently to broaden my collection.

I won't rule it out though. It does look fun.

I voted maybe, cause it depends. If the reviews will only be about how beautiful it looks, then no. If it will be about how many hours of challenging, replayable and absorbing joy it brings then yes, most certainly will (I love this theme). Or you could just watch people playing on YouTube rather than waiting for someone’s opinion who basically said that they prefer Sim based packs and that pretty much said they’re not interested in this kind of gameplay.

I think you’d get a more realistic opinion if you watched a brief overview even from LGR at this point.
Must confess I’m not really into Let’s Plays, because for me it’s always felt like seeing and knowing too much from a movie before you watch it? I prefer to be surprised, experiencing it myself. I never ever saw a Sims 3 trailer when the game was running, nor Let’s Plays. I just bought the pack, installed it and let it surprise me. To be honest I’m the same with this pack really, I don’t want to know too much. In that respect it’s different from a pack like C&D, which mainly involves behaviour based gameplay. I expect the adventure pack to be full of surprises, so if I see people stating “it’s really full of surprises!!” I’ll probably be sold already ;) Not if an influencer yells that though. I simply don’t trust the influencers (and that’s got nothing to do with Sims 4 but with that system).

(LGR’s review I will be very interested in btw)

I'm the same, I can't stand watching others play computer games, none of them play how I like playing so I end up bored and annoyed by most of them the few times I have tried.
I also got to say I don't mind if @DeservedCriticism decides to write up his opinion on this pack. I usually end up agreeing with many points he makes, so I know our opinions/style of play align somewhat, therefore any comments he makes will likely give me more insight to if I will like it than another review written by someone who has very different tastes from me.
Same with LGR reviews, I have always appreciated his reviews, and I just enjoy his channel, he always makes me laugh.

As it stands I'm a maybe. This pack so far looks amazing and if I was still playing ts4 consistently I probably would be buying this, but I don't know where me and the sims stand right now so I'm not comfortable saying I will buy any pack.

I still like certain things about ts4 so I don't want to say I am done with it entirely, but there are too many issues I have right now that need to be addressed for me to invest more into it, and there's too large chance they wont be addressed.
Exactly this. LGR is a totally different kind of player than I am. He loves Sims 1 because it was so hard to play (survive), I quit the game because of that. I can imagine (don’t know for sure) he wasn’t a WA fan because of its RPG element. The way he does his reviews however, giving thorough arguments for everything and with a lot of wit, enables me to pick out what will apply to me and what will not. It’s like someone testing a car on tv, complaining he doesn’t fit behind the wheel with his 6,5 ft. That won’t matter to me, I’m not 6,5. It’s a good thing they mention that, but it doesn’t have to keep me personally from buying that car.

It's either going to be an early birthday present (my birthday's the following Sunday) or a belated Valentine's gift (my husband was in the hospital this week and just got out this afternoon so Valentine's was very low-key; didn't have a chance to get cards and I just got him a gift from the hospital gift shop when I went to escort him home). Either way, I'll get it on release day.

I understand it's Jungle Adventure, But I wanted Egyptian/Arabian/African/European adventure. than South American Adventure.
So I would like a way to build dungeons and such outside of this world.

We've never had a South American theme in the Sims -- and from a brief glimpse of the decor it looks like some of it would coordinate well with some of the larger houses in Oasis Springs, so some of the Build Mode items could coordinate well. I hope we could get the Day of the Dead challenge again in the fall -- it would fit the theme well, and I'd love to have the skulls in my current save. Nancy Landgraab had a baby right before she turned Elder (thanks to MCCC) so I could make Malcolm caregiver and move the two of them out, then Nancy and Geoffrey could move into a smaller place and pass away peacefully leaving their house vacant for me to play around with when the pack is released.

LGR gave a good review for the Vampire pack even though he's not particularly a fan of supernaturals; I think because it was so thorough and well done with the powers tree that even though the theme wasn't a favorite of his, he appreciated the depth that the devs took the GP. So even if it's something he wouldn't necessarily play, it was so well done that he gave it a thumbs up for those who are interested in supernatural play. (Sims 4 is the first game where I've actually done a lot of vampire play, because these vampires are so interesting.)

I feel you're completely glossing over a very important point I made and trying to downplay this as just my opinion instead of being anything more:

The two most well-received packs thusfar are Vampires and Parenthood. The common link between the two is that both have long-term gameplay changes that affect how your sim acts, what they can do and how they interact with the world.

I am arguing that this isn't coincidence, but rather those elements are a large part of why those two packs were well-recieved. This isn't just me stating "I like those things." This is me stating "I like those things and there is a rather heavy amount of evidence suggesting that those things are popular amongst the entire community." This isn't about me wanting packs catering to my personal needs and no one else, this is about the fact that:

    1) The gameplay content that I've described is not mutually-exclusive to any other content others may want. One guy said he wanted more haircuts. Yeah, we can get both new haircuts and long-term gameplay effects.

    2) The gameplay content I've described ties directly into many of the most common complaints of Sims 4, such as "there's nothing to do" and "all my sims feel the same."

    3) As stated, I don't feel it's coincidence that the very two packs that do the most to provide Sims with more unique abilities or personality are also the two most well-received in any poll conducted.

If you still disagree, then answer me this: why should they not strive to try and provide the types of features I described?

yes, but pretty sure I'd wait out for a sale. I don't like the theme THAT much to be spending the full price.

Every review of every item is subjective. I've seen people rave about a movie or a TV show that I just can't get into -- for example, Friends and Seinfeld are two TV shows that just bored me, and don't get me started on the 50 Shades books/movies. That's why I might use a review as a guideline but would rather see something for myself if possible. Of course, if a restaurant review mentions dirty conditions or having a rat share your hot fudge sundae, I'd probably steer clear of that place :D but if it comes to service quality or food I might give it a try; the reviewer may have just been there on a bad day, and it often takes a month or two for a new place to settle into a routine.

Or, and this is commonly known to happen with a Dutch (I believe it is...) online restaurant guide, other restaurants might spread those rumours about lack of hygiene or rude service. Or restaurants pay people to place very positive reviews. This is where the influencers come in for me ;) A review most certainly is subjective in terms of personal taste, but can be objective where it comes to personal interests. LGR is subjective where it comes to his opinions, but he’s openly rejected any form of personal interest where EA is concerned. In that respect he’s reliable and objective. ( @cameronw209 )

Not sure yet. I want to see and learn more about it before I make my decision; so far, it hasn’t really caught my interest at all.

I'll say yes, though since I'm moving to China a couple of days before the pack releases, I doubt I'll be able to download it right away.

Um - did you watch todays' live play? How could you not learned more watching that? It is utterly fabulous GP.

To be fair I was already sold - but believe me it went far beyond my expectations - and there is yet another live play next week as well. It is hard to believe this is just a gp.
