What is the difference between Grab serving and pickup serving?

Do they mean the same thing? If so why are they both necessary?

Grab serving -> the sim eats it
Pick up serving -> the sim puts it into his enventory e.g. to eat it later or to give if to a toddler
Maybe it is the other way round, I don't play the game in English.

'Grab a Serving' command makes the selected sim to eat a part from a food with size bigger than a single serving. 'Pick up serving' command just takes a part from the food [I never seen them put it in their inventory.]
