This is based on a challenge I found in the past. I dont remember the name of it or who made it, but this is not my own original idea.
This is currently being play tested. Rules are subject to change. If you have any ideas, feel free to post on the thread.Setup:
- Make a single sim with the Big Happy Family Aspiration and the Family Oriented, and 2 other traits. This will be your orphanage owner and can be either human, vampire, or alien. Do not use Story Mode to create this sim.
- Your orphanage owner should be made from scratch. Since you can earn points from skill building and aspiration stage completion, see points fore more details, you wouldn't get the same kind of score as others because it takes less time to max a skill that way then it would other people.
- Move your sim into any size lot. This is where you can use your creativity. Build your orphanage in anyway you choose. You can make it as big or small as you want, and you can use money cheats as needed. Reduce funds to $10,000 when complete.
- Make sure Aging is OFF. You will age up your sims as the challenge progresses.
- Decide if you want to adopt children, toddlers, or babies each week. Refer to scorecard for point bonuses. (Consider the pros and cons of each option. While babies may seem like the best option because of 10 point bonus, you are also forfeiting opportunities to get skill, aspiration, and character value points. Choose what you think you can handle because you'll be stuck with this choice for the rest of the challenge.)
Gameplay:
- Adopt life stage decided at the beginning of the day on Sunday..
- Age up sims at the end of the day Saturday the week they are supposed to age up.
- Age up Babies after 1 week.
- Age Up Toddlers after 2 weeks.
- Age up children after 2 weeks.
- Age up Teens after 2 weeks.
- Age up your Original sim every 8 weeks. (Only applies if they can age up)
- Move sims out once they reach Young Adult. Example:
If you choose to adopt babies:
If you choose to adopt toddlers:
If you choose to adopt children:
- Before you move out your sim, but without playing as the sim that is moving out, check to see which aspiration stages you've completed. Any that are complete before they move out are counted towards the final score.
- You may not adopt a cat or dog. There will not be room in the household. (Note that if you choose to adopt toddlers or children, there will be room for pets. If this is the case, you can adopt them. (3 allowed if adopting children, 1 allowed if adopting toddlers))
- You may hire any service at any time except the nanny service which may only be used when you are adopting another baby.
- You get paid $5,000 a week. Receive this salary on Saturday of each week. This is your salary for running the orphanage. Other money making methods are allowed, but you cannot get a job or run a business as the orphanage is your job. (For bonus points: Receive a reduced salary of 2,500 or Receive no salary. Refer to scorecard for point bonuses.)
- Teens are allowed to get a part-time job.
- Randomize your children's traits and aspirations. You cannot pick them yourself. (See below for random trait and aspiration generators)
Ending the Challenge:
- Challenge Ends when your original sim dies or after 24 weeks.
- If they are a Vampire and never reach elder, the challenge ends after 24 weeks or when they die.
- On Saturday of week 24, age up sims to the life stage they would be at if you were to continue to week 25, and check all aspirations and skills. Check character values of toddlers and children because they do get character trait points if they would get them if they were to become YA sims then. See Points section for more details on this.

This one is great and does just what it says. Based on the two parents traits it generates traits and aspirations for child, teen and yound adult. The minor drawback is Toddler traits are not considered.

To gain access to the document, Click "file", "make a copy", and "ok". This will give you a copy that you can edit.
To update your existing scorecard, follow the same steps and transfer your data manually.
The scorecard is setup so you only have to change the first column for each sim. For example, if you reach level 10 of the charisma skill, the scorecard will automatically calculate that you've maxed the skill and add in the bonus points for maxing that skill.

Thanks. I hope you enjoy playing it. Let me know if I can improve it in any way.
This Caretaker Challenge looks interesting.
What was your score when you tested the challenge?
Can I use a smaller lot to start?
Starting funds (after building) is §10,000 and you "get paid §5,000 a week". Are other money making hobbies like painting, writing or crafting allowed? I have been saving and sharing some of my #HeirsSpares Teens / Children to use in other saves. They have been played in game and most have at least minimal amount of skills. Can I use my #HeirsSpares as Orphanage Owner as long as they have the required traits?
Are Aliens okay to use?
I didnt really think of that, but I guess you could use a smaller lot if you want to.
Sure, any money making options are allowed except having a job as the orphanage is your job...I should probably add that to the rules. XD
You would probably need to start from scratch due to the fact that you earn points from skillbuilding and aspiration stage completion since premade sims keep their skills and such.
That's something I hadn't thought about. I think I'm gonna leave it up to the player, so yes, you can use aliens should you choose to.
@EuphorialQueen I like the fact that you take the time to ask questions and comments about each challenge. I haven't made very many challenges, and this is one of my 1st. I just want to say thanks for your time and effort to help make each and every challenge the best it can be by giving advice, asking questions, and so on.
I might still make an identical twin in CAS for the genetics. Then I will still have a fresh Sim.
@TheRoseHorse Glad you like my comments
Challenges are my thing. I love exploring new ways to play the game. A well thought out and tested challenge is much appreciated. Thank you for sharing.

Lifespans in Sims 4based on Short, Normal or Long settings.
Adopt a Baby every Sunday /Allowed to age up on same day.
That would still allow for Toddlers 14 days to complete skills.
Alternate: Adopt a Toddler each week (instead of baby). They would then have a true random trait to start.
- - -
Playing on Long Lifespan would still allow plenty of time for the Children/Teens to get their full 2 weeks to perfect skills.
YA/Adults can still age up each 8 weeks {if they live thru all the kids }
- - -
I am also thinking of starting with less money and not taking the §5,000 a week for my own gameplay.
Going to play around with this and see how it goes. {No promises }
FYI: I am terrible at keeping score so THAT will be a challenge in itself
I'll look at this later. Thanks for the ideas.
FYI: These might come in handy since Sims 4 CAS does not have a randomiser for traits and aspirations.

I have a few ideas that I want to test before sharing so I will be back later.
I'll probably put these links in the rules later. Thanks.
Those are for everyone including the kids. And yes, when you reach the level that masters the skill, you get 8 points. 3 for gaining a level and 5 for mastering the skill.
Made it thru the first week of caring for one baby. Decided to make Saturday Birthday Celebrations and Sunday "Adoption Day".
Baby Amanda has become a Clingy Toddler.
Mom spent some time getting basic skills started. Time to adopt Baby number two.
She is not (we are not) ready but here we go!
If there is not a Teen or older Sim on the lot your choices are to hire a Nanny or send the Toddlers/Babies to daycare.
I'll probably change that cause that fact kinda slipped my mind. Maybe I'll change it to you can hire a nanny while you are adopting. I havent had much experience with the nannies. Can you give me more info about them?
I havent had time to play in a while, so I'm still in the 1st week.
Can you age up an elder to make them die? If not, you could just end the challenge when the sim would die by aging up.
BoB started his second week of being a Toddler. {Maxed all Toddler skills in 1st week}
CeeCee just aged from baby to Toddler.
Darius will be Toddler soon.
Samus {Mom} completed Leader of the Pack Aspiration, maxed Parenting skill in 2 weeks and maxed dancing.
For this test play through I gave myself a few handicaps.
Not use Family Aspiration / No Domestic Bonus Trait. More difficult to focus on family and play.
Her traits are Family Oriented, Perfectionist and Vegetarian.
Started with 5K instead of 10K
Long Lifespan instead of Aging Off. I can easily control the ages and keep better track of my time.
Samus has not collected any paychecks yet
Edit: I am using random traits for the kids and adopting them as babies
When tracking the time to complete a challenge I use a small item for each week. It could be a small decor item or one of the woodwork statues. I keep them either on the lot or in family inventory. I am also using an Excel spreadsheet to track my Sims household progress. otherwise I will be hopelessly lost because I'm not used to keeping track of points.
I use OneNote to keep track of all the sims challenges that I do. Its so much easier to organize for me.
