New game button will NOT start a new save?

So i'm trying to start a new save, I make the sim and whatnot and press the tick but after the loading screen, it loads up one of my old saves - not a new one and wants my sim to move into my existing save. I know I can do save as to duplicate a save but I want a fresh one. Does anyone know what the problem is?

I am sorry that you are having this issue.

If you have cc/mods in your game, move your mods folder to the desktop. Then start the game and see if the issues are still there.

Try resetting your sims 4 folder and see if that helps. To do that, move your sims 4 folder ( that is in Documents -Electronic Arts - then the sims 4 folder is there ) to the desktop. Then start the game, and a new sims 4 folder will be generated. Exit the game and then copy back the "options.ini" or " options " file and the "saves" , "screenshots" "tray" "custom music " and "mods" folders from the desktop sims 4 folder to the new sims 4 folder, replacing the new generated file/ folders with the old file/folders from the desktop sims 4 folder,

I found out the problem, it was using my old save because I had no played Sims (its my building save). Thanks for the help!

@MrMonty96, thank you so much. I was having the same problem and it was driving me crazy. So in my building save, I selected an household to "play" with, saved, closed and started a new game. Now finally I was given a brand new game, with no of my lots from my previous (building) save loaded.
