Ah sorry for not updating!! Thanks @chesterbigbird for doing so. Looking at power supplies now and going to purchase and install later this week! Excited!

@annecarol I'm sorry to hear you're having that issue. @rosemow any ideas?

Hello, sorry I can't give any input on your situation but I also have weird things happening with my game. I was playing sims 3 with all the expansions but no modified content and when I sent one of my sims to university, he wasnt anywhere to be found. What can I do? I already searched it up but it seems like it's not a common issue. Thank you so much.
Hi there. I realize as a New Member you cannot make your own threads yet, but the issue on this one was about a brand new computer suffering from what seems to be a power supply related issue and that's very different.

What you are describing is one of the most common and frequently reported problems with this game, travel related breakage. The travel transitions are very delicate and thousands of things can and do go wrong when traveling out or back to a homeworld. For those not averse to using mods, many find that the combination of NRaas Traveler (especially), Overwatch, and ErrorTrap help to smooth out those often broken transitions.

Without mods, all you can really do is find every way possible to relieve stress on the game, turn all graphics settings in Game Options down to their ugly bare minimum (just temporarily for the travel portion), only attempt travel/uni registration on a freshly started up game session, play offline (not logged in at the Launcher or in-game levels), turn off the in-game TS3 Store shopping experience also in Game Options, switch off the hidden object startup game, play with scrapbook memories switched off, and hope for the best. But no matter what make an extra Save As with a different name before travel in either direction so that if your sim successfully arrives at Uni then later can't get back home, you don't get stuck and lose your entire ongoing game.

I'm sorry to hijack but I'm having bsod only when playing the sims and they changed the forums since last time I was on and I'm too stupid to figure out how to make my own thread right now. Could someone pm me?

Those who are lacking Full Member status (you aren't that far off from qualifying, you just need a few more points to get up to 50) cannot start their own threads. We have one on TS3 Tech Discussions intended for those who need assistance and still are not full members.

The game throwing Windows into a BSOD is pretty severe. If you could post on the New Members tech thread, please if you could provide a full dxdiag report so we can see what kind of hardware you are working with, drivers, etc. It would have to be posted in several pieces by section since the full report would be way too long to fit into one post, or you could use pastebin.com (the free version is fine) and provide a broken up link for us to follow to see it.
