Frozen Adoption Service NPC «123...Next Go

My sim dog had puppies and I sold them using the computer. When the adoption agent came to take them he got stuck on my lot even after the puppy was taken away. Now it won't let me save the file or go to any other lots because it says I cannot do that while a member of my household is leaving. I've tried the reset sims cheat but no luck. Any suggestions?

Try adding him to a group with your sim. Then see if you can travel as a group somewhere. Then disband the group and see if that helps,

I couldn't actually interact with him in any way so adding him to a group wasn't an option. I decided to just close my game and restart since I didn't think it had been that long since I saved it (I was wrong). For future reference - don't sell all puppies at once. I think that may have been what caused it to glitch. Just wait until the adoption guy leaves with one puppy to sell the next.

This happened to me too but I can't find the adoption service sim and idk where he is but I don't want to loose my progress :(

The same thing is happening to me and I have 3 kittens I wanted to sell. It's definetly a glitch they need to patch. Nothing I do is working.

Your issue isn’t quite the same as the simmers in this thread are experiencing. Their sims aren’t freezing on the lot. After they sell their pets and the adoption man comes to take the pets away, the process never ends and they can’t save or travel from the lot.

It has been happening to me for sometime then i tried unlocking the front door. And it didn’t happen again. I hope that helps :)

I just want to send along a possible workaround in case it helps while we investigate this:

If your front door is locked, unlock it first, then adopt. Then re-lock the door once the adoption is complete.

I am having a similar issue. I adopted out one of my cats. It said that they had been adopted. They disappeared from my household, and from the bottom bar where all my Sims are. But now, it won't allow me to enter build mode, travel, open the community, save my gave, or adopt out another pet. The carrier is still on my lot. It's outside of my house, on like the very corner edge of the lot. I have tried to reset the carrier, using the testingcheats on > shift+click > reset object =( I don't want to lose my save and just exit.

I am so sorry but you may need to exit the game without saving and lose your progress. I am sorry
If you are adopting out a pet again, try having the front door unlocked before adopting out the pet, and see if that helps. Also save the game before adopting out.

I am experiencing this problem with both selling and adopting pets. It rarely DOESN’T glitch out. The guy either gets stuck on my lot or he leaves but the game doesn’t register he and pets are gone other than a notification. I can’t save, I can’t leave....nothing.

So I had the same issue and lost 4 hours of gameplay :'( :/ :/ I sold my pets and they were removed but the adoption person was still at my house and he kept leaving and coming back so I locked the doors but still he wouldn't leave and I couldn't save or go into build mode or leave so I invited him inside and locked him in the office where he died over a course of 3 days yes that is a LONG time! He for some reason just wouldn't die no matter how hard I tried so I added him to my house using cheats because I couldn't interact with him then I just starved the adoption worker and quite frankly I feel happy that he died. Anyways... After his death the game didn't do anything so I just quit! I am so mad! It's fine tho because I came
Back on and invited him over then burned the house to the ground.

Really glad I came back to sims after such a long time--just lost an embarassing amount of gameplay hours because of a botched adoption. Thanks!!! I am harboring a lot of resentment and frustration! :smiley:

I am sorry that you lost your save progress as a result of this issue
