I just caught up on your story from the moment Meggie found Ethan and Parker kissing... poor Meggie! The two of them kissing right next to her and VJ playing chess later didn't help either! I like how Meggie has photos of L on the wall above her desk. I feel sorry for VJ now, though!
VJ was stunned by what he witnessed when he walked into Meggie's room, Meggie and L were deeply engrossed in each other in a romantic embrace and appeared on the verge of kissing each other. VJ had his suspicions about Meggie and L's relationship for awhile now and wondered exactly how innocent it was, he had believed Meggie when she said they were just really good friends. Now though it appeared his worse nightmare was coming true and Meggie was going to leave him for L, he couldn't let that happen...ever.
"Meggie what is going on here..." VJ asked in his best calm but upset voice.
Meggie however was on the defense, only because she was embarrassed that it had even happened, she was happy with VJ, why was she trying to kiss L??
"It was only a hug VJ, I was thanking L for my Birthday gift.."
"It looked like more than a hug to me.." VJ countered semi angrily and walked towards the door..
Meggie acted quickly and ran to him, "I'm sorry VJ, I just got caught up in the moment, I want to be with you.." she was trying her best to smooth things over..
L wandered over, he had been very quiet with the whole back and fourth between Meggie and VJ, it hurt him when Meggie said she wanted to be with VJ but in reality he knew he had to accept it or risk losing Meggie as a friend forever.
VJ was less forgiving of L than he had been of Meggie, he attacked..
"You...you knew she was my girlfriend why the he*ck would you try to kiss her??"
L didn't feel the need to explain himself to VJ, he knew what he and Meggie had almost done was wrong, so he remained silent.
Meggie didn't like VJ yelling at L and let him know in no uncertain terms..
"Don't you dare yell at L!! He had nothing to do with this it was my fault, I started it..he's my friend, he'll always be my friend, either you accept that or we are finished!!" L was impressed by Meggie's outburst, he just stood there grinning from ear to ear, tallying up the score in his head...L one, VJ zero!
L's tally however was about to take a deep cut..luckily he didn't see what happened next. VJ rushed out to the hallway..
Meggie gave L a hug and said she had to talk to VJ..L reluctantly let her go.
She caught up with VJ in the hall..
"I'm really sorry.." she said truthfully.
"You hurt me..." he started..
Meggie grabbed him into a kiss..and suddenly all was forgiven..
VJ presented her with a gift..he told her to open it in private...her mind was reeling wondering exactly what he had given her.
"Thank you in advance then..."

Jared called upstairs for Meggie telling her that it was time for her to blow out her candles..she came down with a big smile on her face and made her Birthday wish..

Nothing happened she was only turning 17 not aging up!

After cake she got to know some of the guests she hadn't met yet, she instantly loved L's brother Lee..he was 4 years younger than L, funny, nice and Meggie even dared think...cute. They were getting along great...he was very easy to talk to almost as easy as L.
it was almost like L could sense someone touching Meggie as he came into Connor's bedroom right as Lee was giving Meggie a second hug.
he sighed heavily and dragged Lee into the bathroom..
"Oh My God Lee, she has a boyfriend...!"
"I didn't see one...plus she has a nice a*ss!"
"Lee, Geezuz you never change!!"
"Oh come on L even you must have noticed, she has a nice rack for a teenager too, I'm sure whoever her boyfriend is is enjoying those melons!"
L was close to ripping Lee's head off.."Don't talk about her like that Lee!"
"L if my spidey senses are right I'd have to say you have a bit of a crush on dear sweet Meggie!" Lee laughed- understanding L's overly protective behavior..
"No I don't!!" L yelled..
"L do I look like I just crawled out from under the stooped rock, of course you do, it’s freaking obvious!"
L remained silent for a few minutes so Lee tried another tack..
"Admit it or I'll ask her out!"
L was beaten, he knew Lee would ask her out, his brother was a bit of a He Ho, he would go out with whomever he liked for little or no reason, though he would never snag anyone that L truly liked, he really did love and respect his older brother, he just loved messing with him....it was very easy to do!
L sighed heavily and said.."Okay okay...I do like her..I admit it."
Lee grinned "Now that wasn't so hard was it big bro?"

Meggie met Jack, Connor and Jared's cousin, nice guy, not a big talker but pleasant enough.
As she walked back into the hall Lee showed up in his bathing suit, L told him there was a sauna and pool and was about to take full advantage, he needed a good steam...
"Hey beautiful...he addressed Meggie..."
"Hi Lee, gonna go swimming?"
"Nah, I though I might take a steam, my back is achy from basketball earlier today with L, he can still whoop my butt..."
They chatted for a few minutes when L showed up..
"I used to be pretty good at basketball, I haven't played for awhile though..." Meggie stated..
"Don't play against L, he's vicious!" Lee chuckled, "He'll slowly wear you down and make every bone in your body cry for mercy..but you'll still want to go for round two..and he'll wear you out all over again"
L was mentally rolling his eyes at his brother's choice of words, Lee had a gift of making almost anything sound vaguely se*Xu*al..
Meggie's eyes were bugging out of her head, she started picturing in her head L doing something very un-basketball like and had to escape downstairs quickly.
"Got her!" Lee muttered under his breath chuckling...he changed back into his clothes then he and L went downstairs..
L spotted Meggie and VJ all cozied up on the couch..
He couldn't take it anymore when they started making out on the couch..
and left without even saying goodbye.
His heart was pretty much breaking, he could live in la la land and pretend Meggie and VJ just talked whenever they were alone but seeing them making out in front of everyone was too much...it was all too real.
He drove the three hours back to the city trying to choke back tears...

The party was breaking up, VJ had already gone home as he said he was tired. Lee looked confused so Meggie decided to ask him what was wrong.
"Any idea where L is, he was supposed to drive me back to the city..."
Meggie hadn't seen him since she and Lee were chatting in the hallway. "Huh, I haven't seen him for a few hours, though I was with VJ...so..." she replied
"VJ, is he your boyfriend?" Lee inquired
"Yes, he's my boyfriend.." Meggie answered
"L calls him a shifty brat, I don't think he cares for him too much.." Lee snickered
"I guess L doesn't like him as much as I do.."
"L is a big ball of jealous..."
"Why would L be jealous of VJ?" Meggie asked innocently
"Because silly girl, L is madly in love with you, any fool can see that!"
"Well I love L too, I have for years, he's my best friend.." Meggie said matter of factly
"No Meggie, L is IN love with you, there is a very big difference..."
"Now if you'll excuse me I have to text my moody brother and figure out how I'm going to get back to Bridgeport..."

10 minutes later...
"I'm taking the bus back tomorrow, can I crash here tonight?"
"Sure..." Meggie answered
Lee climbed onto the bed with Meggie and got comfortable.
"What are you watching..looks like some romantic cr*ap.."
"Do you have something against romance?" Meggie was genuinely interested in why Lee seemed so bitter about romance...but her thoughts got blurry and she fell asleep seeing as though it was almost 3:00 AM. Lee fell asleep soon after.

Meggie woke up the next morning and couldn't find Lee, she almost figured he went to catch the bus but Jared told her that he borrowed a pole and went down to do some fishing...
"What are you doing?" Meggie laughed, Lee certainly was a strange random guy.
"I'm a doin' some fishin' like the local yokels!" Lee said with a completely strait face...
Meggie laughed even harder, "You're so strange!!"
"Yup, I'm the funny one, L is the serious one.."
"L is funny..." Meggie sighed.
"Yup, L is a bucket of giggles...Hey lookie what I caught!!" Lee held up his prize. Meggie caught herself laughing at Lee again, he was an amusing guy.
Lee put away his pole..."My bus leaves in an hour, it was really good to meet you Meggie"
"It was wonderful meeting you too Lee, you certainly not what I expected in a brother of L's..."
"I'm not sure if that is good or bad." he smiled "I want you to keep in mind what I told you about L, it is completely true even if he doesn't want to admit yet, it probably has to do with you being so young, you are what...13 years younger than him, that is a huge age gap right now, you're still jail bait, no wonder he has cold feet.."
Meggie was silent, just thinking...Lee walked away and went to the bus station. "You're welcome L..." he said to himself smiling.

Weeks passed, VJ and Meggie were getting along fine as long as L was not "butting in" as VJ called it. Meggie had already cut out her daily calls to L, she now called him on Thursdays and Saturday mornings, and she only chatted with him when VJ was not around...VJ was getting a bit controlling and maybe even possessive according to L when Meggie told him about her needing to cut down on the communication with him, he kept his opinion to himself though.
VJ came over after school on Monday, he and Meggie liked playing pool together so they played a few rounds..
Then retired over to the couch for a lively chat about school..
Which of course became an all out cuddle session, Meggie liked VJ like this, calm and not griping about L..
right then her notification about a text went off..."Ignore it!" VJ demanded..
"I could be important..." Meggie countered..
It was L....
VJ had finally had enough...he was sick of L texting Meggie every 5 minutes and told her so..
"But he's my friend..." Meggie said quietly.
"I could care less! No more texting L!!"
"You know what VJ, scr*ew You!!"
and with that she went upstairs, she was sick of VJ right now.
"Meggie!! Get back here!!" he bellowed..she ignored him.
VJ followed her up to her room and burst right in breaking the door frame as Meggie had locked the door..."Don't you ignore me Meggie!!"
"Stop yelling VJ you're scaring me!" Meggie gasped, she was very scared of VJ right about now, this was a side of him she had never seen before.
"You will never see L again, do you hear me!!"
Meggie would never ever agree to that.."He's just a friend VJ, I WILL see him whenever I want to!!"
"Meggie you're such an id*io*t, he just wants to use you and throw you away!!"
"Shut it VJ, he's not like that at all!!"
"Don't talk back to me Meggie, you're MINE and you will never see that as*s hole again!!"
With that VJ was in such a rage he slapped Meggie..
Meggie stumbled over to her bed and burst into tears, nobody had ever struck her in her life and now VJ was hitting her...
VJ heard her and immediately the hostile mood was gone, he felt horrible...
He tried apologizing profusely..
Meggie was having none of it.."You hit me you je*rk!!"
Meggie look at VJ and decided this would be a great time to ditch him before she wound up really hurt, she really felt something for VJ but at this moment all she was feeling was hurt and rage that HE, someone who she thought she loved would hurt her.
She took that moment to break up with VJ...
VJ was obviously not happy about this and told Meggie he would win her back. He ran off to cool down.
She changed into her favorite bunny shirt slipped downstairs without anyone noticing and sat on the swings, just thinking...

Meggie called L after a while of thinking on the swings...she would ask him in a roundabout way what to do about VJ, she valued his opinion and she really did feel something for VJ, though at this point she felt it was anger.
L was of course glad to hear from Meggie...
Meggie got right to it..."L what would you do if someone hurt you but you really like them, would you forgive them or cut and run?" L figured this was about him leaving her Birthday party so abruptly without even saying goodbye, which was a really stoopid idea in hindsight.
"I would forgive him!" L answered quickly...
Meggie though it was strange L knew she was talking about another male...she probed a bit further.. "L, do you believe in second chances no matter what?" L again answered rapidly "Yes, everybody deserves a second chance!"
"Okay that's all I wanted to know, I'll take that advise and forgive him..." Meggie said without really thinking.
L was thoroughly confused.."Him who?" L questioned her..
"VJ...who did you think I was talking about?"
"I thought you were talking about me leaving without saying goodbye on your Birthday"
"L that was weeks ago, I've talked to you almost every day since then why do you think I'd be hurt by that all of a sudden...but wait WHY did you leave without saying goodbye to me it was my Birthday for cripes sakes!"
"You were busy...so I just left."
"I wasn't too busy to say goodbye to my best friend!!"
"You were lip locked with VJ..." L said quietly.
"Oh.....sorry...." was all Meggie could say. L didn't say anything for awhile and Meggie could tell he was upset, he always got really quiet when he was upset.
"L...."
"I'm fine Meggie, don't worry about it..."
The chatted about the weather and other meaningless subjects for awhile then L said he had to go. Meggie was confused about his behavior but figured he was just in a mood, everyone has a bad day now and again.
L hung up and just stood there for a second contemplating what VJ did to hurt Meggie...he didn't think it was a good idea to pry, she would tell him when she was good and ready.

The next morning Meggie went to get the mail and found two flower arrangements and a stuffed bunny on the front porch, she knew who they were from immediately. First impulse was to kick over the flowers and rip the rabbit's head off but anger subsided when she remembered what L said about deserving a second chance...
VJ deserved a second chance and Meggie would give him ONE...she gathered up her gifts, she texted VJ and told him she would like to see him tonight to talk. He agreed that was a very good idea.
She hoped she didn't just make a huge mistake...
VJ showed up to pick up Meggie, they decided to go to the Bistro to talk.
"I'm so sorry Meggie, I don't know what happened, I just lost it...I promised to never ever hit you ever again." he sniffled, poor boy was about in tears.
"You hurt me VJ, you're one of my best friends, I never ever thought you would hit me....ever..."
"Meggie I never wanted to hurt you and will never do it again, you have no idea how much you mean to me..."
"I forgive you VJ...."
Meggie couldn't help it, she wanted to stay mad at him longer but she couldn't seem to control herself and kissed him.
Then her inherited bad timing and verbal diarrhea kicked in and she uttered the one thing she wasn't even sure was true.."I love You VJ!"
In between kisses he declared "I've loved you for so long Meggie...I've always wanted you for my own.." for some reason that declaration both made Meggie feel really good and scared out of her mind.

They eventually found their way up to the Bistro...
After they ate they did some dancing, and more smooching...VJ was in heaven, he was having a great time with Meggie, it was just as it should be.
He presented her with a gift, he said it was the same thing she got for her Birthday only in a different color...Meggie tried to be gracious but he got her a slinky negligee for her Birthday and now he's giving her another?? There was no way she was even close to wanting to do anything in the bedroom with VJ at this point...she muttered a "thank you" she was polite after all.
Just then Meggie's text alert went off and her whole body clenched up...she thought 'Cr*ap L not right now!!' she knew VJ was going to lose it!
"Want me to ignore it..." she asked VJ quietly.
"No you can answer him..." VJ knew who it was immediately.
"What did you tell him?" VJ asked..
"I said I was on a date with you and I would talk to him later..is that okay?" Meggie asked cautiously
"I really wish you would just cut ties with him, he likes you too much, he's too old for you, he should start dating someone his own age and if you cut him off he might actually get the hint that you are mine."
"Okay..for you I'll tell him I need to stop talking to him, it will be better for us.." Meggie said really quietly, her heart fracturing in two, but there is no way she wanted VJ mad...
"You're doing the right thing my princess..." VJ smiled
Meggie cringed at the new pet name for her..

L hadn't heard from Meggie and it was 1:00 in the morning, he tried texting her, there was no reply, he tried calling her, it went right to messages, he decided to see if he could get her on chat on the computer...nothing, it was like she had fallen off the face of the Earth, panic was setting in.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! VJ did not deserve a second chance! Why is that so many women/girls go back for more of the same?
Isolating Meggie is worse than hitting her!

Meggie had spent the night at VJ's after asking Jared's permission, they had spent all night awake playing video games so she couldn't even sneak away to try and get ahold of L, she also had promised VJ she wouldn't talk to him, but that promise was becoming impossible. The next morning she knew VJ was deeply engrossed on the computer doing a school research paper. Meggie hadn't talked to L since early last night, she Always texted him a goodnight. He was probably worried about her as it was the first time in 3 years since she got her phone that she hadn't said goodnight. She finally saw her chance...
She checked on VJ to make sure he was busy..
"Meggie why are you hovering, I have to get this paper done.."
"Sorry...I'm just headed to the bathroom.."
"Congratulations.." he muttered quietly under his breath, and went back to his Biology paper.
Meggie went into the bathroom, her heart was pounding, she knew VJ would kill her if he caught her doing what she was about to do..
Good she got him! She thought to herself, she had to talk really quiet so she told him Edward was sick and she was sitting beside his bed. She hated lying but it was the only way right now.
it was so good to hear his voice, all the stress seemed to drain from her body..
Little did Meggie know VJ was on the other side of the door listening...he couldn't hear much it almost sounded like Meggie was whispering.
Meggie had just hung up when VJ barged in..
"Who were you talking to?" he asked is a scary quiet voice, Meggie shivered...and stuttered out
"Edward, he's sick and said he had a headache so I didn't want to make him feel worse, I actually have to go home because Jared needs to go to work and needs me to watch him."
She went to leave...
"Um, Meggie....." he called after her..
"Kiss..."
she really didn't feel like kissing him right now but decided to keep the peace..
she made her exit with a sigh of relief. she was really starting to feel nigglings of dislike for VJ..
VJ decided to record the morning in his notebook, he knew darn well Meggie was talking to L in the bathroom.
He wrote down every detail, what she said, what she was wearing, what they played last night how they had danced last night and what he was feeling about her...this was actually his 5th notebook, the other 4 had been filled in the past 3 years. VJ had started keeping the notebooks the day he realized his mother would never be coming back. She had walked out on his father but even worse had walked out him and his little brother's lives forever....and it hurt!
His mother had been his best friend, he loved and adored her and she just up and left, he vowed that the only other female he had such strong feelings for would never leave him, he would never forget the good times they had together. He decided to keep a log of everything he and Meggie did together, he had started to forget things about his mom and never wanted that to happen with Meggie. It started out innocently enough but sometime after Meggie turned 15 feelings developed in VJ that were more than friendly, it was growing every year and becoming all consuming...one could almost call it an Obsession...
He scribbled furiously, remembering every detail, writing down how her eyelashes fluttered right before he leaned in to kiss her, how her little sighs drove him crazy and made him want to devour her.. How he felt when he knew she was lying about having to go home and take care of her little brother, he could tell it was a big fat lie, it was obvious in the tilt of her chin and the look in her eyes, she lied.
It was okay though as he had taken care of her being able to get ahold of L easily.
He swiped her phone from her back pocket when she was kissing him goodbye, and had taken all her contacts off her computer and deleted the chat program last time he was over her house. She could get ahold of L if she really tried but he wasn't going to make it easy.
He then decided to take action....
he dialed L..."Meggie, how is Edward?" L asked immediately..
"It's not Meggie L, she lied to you about Edward, he's not sick.."
"Who is this?" L questioned
"Her boyfriend..." VJ sneared into the phone "She's mine and you will never hear from her again!" *Click* he hung up the phone turned it off and tossed it on the desk before L could even reply. 'That should take care of that as*shol*e' he muttered to himself.

L spent the better part of an hour trying to get Meggie on her cell, no answer, right into voice mail..then he called the house, no answer, then he tried chat, no sign of Meggie anywhere! He was ready to pull out his hair, he hightailed it over to Lee's apartment (Lee decided to move to Bridgeport to further his directing career and be closer to his big brother).
"Whatz up elder bro...geeze you look stressed, you should visit your spa!" Lee chuckled..
"Not now Lee! Meggie finally called, she's okay. Then her POS boyfriend just called and said I would never hear from her again...and now I can't get ahold of her! He better not be hurting her Lee, I'll kill him if he hurts her!"
"L, I'm sure she's fine, though her boyfriend really does sound like a piece of work..."
"I really am starting to think he has a few major screws loose! He messed with the chat passwords somehow, can you get it working Lee?"
"Do you doubt my mad electronic fiddling with skills??" Lee faked looking shocked..
L being stressed out and way too impatient went right over to Lee's laptop and started furiously typing in codes, Lee walked over and calmly told L "Move you keister bro, you're gonna kill my laptop banging on the keys like that, I'll have you chatting with sweet little Meggie in a matter of hours."
"I hope so, I need to know she's okay..." L looked so worried Lee felt really bad for him.
@Charlottesmom Okay, so the boy has issues because of his mother leaving, but that does not excuse the way he is treating Meggie!
So now we know about the notebook the boys were holding against VJ when they were younger! But it seems like it's much worse now than it was back then. I am sure the boys would be mortified if they knew what VJ was doing now!
I hope that niggling feeling that Meggie has grows and she gets some sense! And I hope that L gets to her soon! It's good that L and Lee's help. I think he will need it!
@Mikezumi , Yup the obsession (not so secret anymore) VJ has for Meggie has grown out of control...VJ's mom leaving messed him up for sure but correct it is not an excuse for his behavior. Ethan and Parker have big parts in a future update. Tomorrow is a bit less serious of an update it is mostly Lee and L..
**Posting this tonight due to lack of computer time tomorrow.
Meggie got all the way home and couldn't find her phone, she figured she must have left it at VJ's house so she headed right back.
"Hi VJ, did you happen to see my phone anywhere?"
"Do you mean This phone, you sure do text L an awful lot, and I checked you last outgoing call, guess who it was to...want to guess Meggie, after I told you to not talk to him anymore!"
"Just give me my phone VJ..."
"Fine...here take you stooped phone...call him all you want for all I care!"
"Thank you VJ....I'll see you later..." and she booked it home before he could say anything else to her.

Home 10 minutes later...Edward was doing homework on Meggie's computer.
"Hey Squirt.." Meggie greeted him ruffling his hair.
"Hi Megs, I just need to finish this up, dad keep taking his laptop to work so I never get to use it."
"Your Birthday is coming up maybe Connor will buy you your own laptop."
"It sounds so funny when you call my dad Connor..." Edward laughed
"Well Connor is his name, silly boy and he's not related to me only you.."
"You should call him dad..." Edward mused...
Meggie made a face, "um, not gonna happen Squirt."
She immediately got on her phone to talk to L, but found all her contacts were erased and some sort of weird jamming was going on, not letting her text or call anyone.
"VJ...." Meggie whispered..
She tried shutting it off then turning it back on...it didn't help...."Sh*it!!" she yelled..
"Megs, don't cuss!!" Edward scolded from the computer..
Meggie started crying from frustration..
Edward was startled, he rarely heard Meggie cry, he got up to see what was wrong.
"Megs, what's wrong.." Meggie dried her eyes, they were red from crying.
Meggie didn't answer, it was nothing Edward needed to worry about, she bent down and gave her beautiful little brother a huge hug and whispered that he was the best brother ever into his ear.
"I love you Megs!!"
"I love you too Squirt!" come on I'll tuck you in it's way past your bedtime.
Every time she looked at Edward she missed her mother so much, he was such a sweet kid.
Meggie walked down to the bathroom and splashed some water on her face, she looked horrible, the puffy red eyes from crying were not her friend.
She was so deep in thought staring blankly into the mirror she didn't notice Jared had come into the bathroom and was looking at her in the mirror..
"Good God Meggie what happened to you?" Jared asked concerned..
"VJ and I had a disagreement." she muttered..
"Ah young love..." Jared chuckled..
"I don't love him!" Meggie yelled throwing Jared off a bit, Meggie rarely ever yelled at him.
"Sorry Jared, he broke my phone so I'm a bit peeved at him right now..."
"Come here....." He gave her a hug, she looked like she really needed one.
"Let me take a look at your phone, if I can't fix it I can always buy you a new one, you've had that one for three years.." They went back to her room and she gave Jared the phone.
Jared fiddled with it for about 5 minutes and announced...."Well Meggie it looks like this phone...."
"Is fixed!"
"Jared you're super awesome!!" Meggie laughed...

"All fixed L!! Have at her..." Lee yelled triumphantly...L practically shoved Lee out of the way trying to get ahold of Meggie.
He got right to chat and started rapidly posting to Meggie making sure she was okay. Meggie assured him she was fine, she told him about VJ's messing with her phone,
after three posts from Meggie though chat blinked out and there was nothing but a black screen. L texted Meggie to ask if she was having the same problem, she was and had Jared on it already trying to fix it. They chatted while Jared and Lee worked on the computers. It was taking a while and Meggie was getting tired so she and L hung up...Jared continued working on the computer.
"I think someone changed your password but allowed you to use it once before they set the chat to implode..."
"VJ....he was the only one that would do that.." Meggie told Jared.
"Why would VJ do that?" Jared asked curiously eyes still to the computer..
"Because he hates me chatting with L...he's jealous or something."
"You don't need that crud in your life Meggie, he broke your phone and messed with your laptop, that is a big issue. I had a super jealous girlfriend once, it was he*ll!" Jared stated while still working on the computer, which he had fixed and was now signing her into chat so she could talk to L..
"Really? what was her name?"
"Claire..."
Just then Connor walked in..."Claire...jeeze that's a blast from the past..." Connor chuckled.
"Connor you know you liked her too until you discovered she was such an odd duck and a possessive one at that.." Meggie if he's jealous and possessive you should ditch him, he'll be nothing but trouble in the future."
"Totally agree..." added Connor
"I'll definitely think long and hard about that.." Meggie smiled.

"Meggie, did you take these pictures of L, they're really good..." Jared asked
Maybe you should take up photography or something to occupy your time and keep you away from VJ. How about Ethan and Parker, do they know about VJ and his jealousy?"
"No, they don't know.."
"I think you should tell them." Jared said, and both brothers shook their heads in agreement yet again.
Meggie had to laugh, Connor and Jared were wonderful "dads" to her.
I enjoyed your last few updates! I’m glad to see that Meggie is finally starting to see how much of a creep VJ can be, what with the messing up her phone, hacking her online chat, etc. I just hope that she’ll be able to be strong and break away from VJ and his controlling ways! By the way, the “secret obsession” totally shocked me! I was expecting the obsession to be L’s crush on her, not VJ, and especially not detailed notebooks of all his interactions with Meggie. Creepy

That VJ is bad news! Did he think no-one would know that he had done those things to her phone and chat? Or perhaps he thought Meggie would just fall into line even if she knew? Dang, that is one sick puppy!

Secret Obsession Part 27: I get by with a little help from my Friends...
Meggie decided that a few days of peace and quiet was what she needed right now, she texted L and told him she wanted to have a few quiet days, starting tomorrow, no texting, only one little bit of chatting at night right before bed and no calls, she needed to think and clear her head. L was a little worried about her but at least they could chat at night, that made him feel better.
She called Ethan and Parker over, she wanted to ask them about VJ's behavior...she was closest to VJ and had been since they were very small kids but his outbursts lately were driving her away, she was beginning see him in a new not so flattering light.
"Have you guys noticed anything about VJ's behavior lately, he yelled at me a few times and..." her voice faded away.
"and what?" Ethan asked
"and he...well he...he's acting all possessive and weird" she had chicken out, she wanted to tell them about the slap but she was protecting VJ for some reason it seemed.
"Possessive....like how?" Ethan asked.
Meggie explained the things VJ had done to her phone and computer (or at least she thought VJ had been the one to sabotage her chat feature on the computer). "I want to tell him to leave me alone for a few days so I can think things through ya know.."
Ethan wondered if this had to do with VJ's notebook, Ethan had been looking for VJ's soccer socks for him 3 years ago and found the notebook, he innocently looked at it and was a bit shocked. VJ had run over and knocked it out of Ethan's hands but Ethan had seen enough, he asked VJ about it but VJ clamped up and told Ethan to not worry about it. Ethan and Parker waited till VJ was asleep when they were sleeping over his house a few days after that and looked for the notebook, they were able to read ten pages then put it back. Mostly it seemed a diary of sorts to their thirteen year old brains, they agreed it was a bit strange but not majorly creepy. Parker had looked for it once again last year but VJ must have moved it because it wasn't in that drawer anymore.
"Yeah, I think we'll have a talk with him Meggie...we'll tell him to leave you alone for a few days so you can think.." Ethan said and Parker agreed.
"Thanks guys!" Meggie was an emotional wreck and shed a few tears while thanking both of her friends.

"We should have told her Ethan!"
"There is no need to freak her out Parker, the notebook was a bit strange but he never wrote anything bad about Meggie, plus it was years ago...do you actually think he still does it?" Ethan argued back...
"Yeah, that's true, it was three years ago.." Parker agreed "Though we really need to talk to him about his fooling with her phone and computer, what the he*ck do you think that's all about?"
"I'm not sure, but VJ sure has some explaining to do..."

Meanwhile.....in Bridgeport.
L and Meggie were chatting about small stuff, the weather, her future photography classes, how the kids were doing..Meggie purposely avoided the subject of VJ.
There was a loud banging on the door and a "Open up big bro the Zombies are chasing us!!" and laughing from the other side of the door..
L chuckled, he brother was a true dork, he yelled "Just get in here...Zombie-less please!" and told Meggie he would chat later, Lee had just come over.
Lee strolled in with his on again off again girlfriend Eve...
"Hey Eve, long time no see..." L greeted her, Eve was the most "normal" of all of Lee's Ex girlfriends, he liked her.
"Hey L, is my brat of a boyfriend treating you okay?" Eve quizzed L..
"He's as obnoxious as ever...but then you know how how he is..."
"Sure do, no idea why I'm with him again, he is a monster.." Eve laughed..
"Ummm, I can hear you two!!" Lee interrupted them.
Lee went over to get a coffee. "So how is life treating you L, I hear the spa will be opening in a matter of months.."
"Yeah, we hit a few delays with some of the equipment but everything should be delivered and up in running in a few months. The grand opening right after all the finishing touches. I'm actually hoping to open on Meggie's 18th Birthday as a surprise to her, she can try out everything for me." L smiled.
Eve just smiled knowingly...L had an incoming call..."I gotta take this Eve..."
"Hi Meggie!"
"Is your computer still running okay, mine seems to be fixed.."
Eve observed, she was a people watcher...she went over to Lee and whispered "Dude, you are so right, he freaking loves that girl!"
"I told you, you should see them together, it's totally obvious, a little sickening really.." Lee made gagging noises which L who was now off the phone noticed.
"What's sickening?" L asked curiously.
"Oh nothing..." Eve stated. "Hey Lee, we gotta get going or we're going to miss the poetry reading at the library!"
"Kill me now..." Lee said a bit too loud.
"Bye my big bro!" Lee said hugging his brother..
"See ya Eve...have fun with the poetry..."
"Oh I will, just watching Lee squirm for 2 hours will be worth it!" Eve giggled..

The next day after school Meggie knew Ethan and Parker were going to talk to VJ so she headed to the library for some "me time" her relationship with VJ was draining. She was looking forward to a few days of peace and quiet, even from L, she was getting way to dependent on him to even make it though the day, they texted constantly, chatted on the computer a few times per day and called each other at least once a day...even for best friends it was bordering on severely co-dependent...he wasn't her boyfriend VJ, was she should make more of an effort with VJ.
Parker told VJ he and Ethan wanted to talk to him about something very important..
"Go ahead..." VJ was curious..
"Did you yell at Meggie?"
VJ was taken aback that was the very last thing he expected Parker to ask..
"We've had our disagreements...and I may have raised my voice on occasion"
"What were you disagreeing about?" Parker probed further...
"Meggie and L's relationship...she texts him constantly, and calls him every day, they talk more than we do!"
"They're friends VJ, they have been since her dad died, you know that!" Ethan added.
"Are you jealous of L?" Parker asked..
"No, but I wish she would talk to ME, she's my girlfriend, I want to be with her, spend time with her...I've waited for her since we were 13, even you two got to her before me and you're gay!" VJ was getting very upset and the tears stated rolling down his cheeks..
Ethan reached over and gathered his friend up into a supportive hug, VJ could be a major a*ss but he knew there was really a good guy under all the hurting.
Parker felt the need to give him a hug too...
They went over to sit down, there was one more very important question they had to ask VJ about..
"VJ do you still have that notebook?" Parker asked.
".........Yes.....actually I have more than one...I was just using them as a diary of what Meggie and I did everyday." VJ answered honestly.
"You don't find that creepy?" Parker asked puzzled..
"No, I wasn't writing anything bad, just stuff about my feelings for Meggie and stuff."
What Parker and Ethan didn't know was VJ was also writing out fantasies about him and Meggie, how he was planning on marrying her, how they would move from Appaloosa to somewhere where nobody knew them and they could start a new life. That wasn't weird was it, VJ had never suspected it was, he wanted his life with Meggie better than his dad's had been with his mom, his family abandoning mother...he hated her for leaving, he would never let Meggie leave him, he would Make her love him...forever.
"Okay...but VJ, Meggie wants a few days just by herself to think, she is very confused by everything going on in her life right now, she needs some time by herself."
"Is she going to stop talking to L too?" VJ raised his voice a little, getting upset..
"Yes, I believe she wanted time away from everyone, that includes L.."
"I hope so, HE's the reason Meggie and I are unhappy right now..."
"VJ your temper and jealousy are the reasons you and Meggie are not happy right now, she really likes you but you need to calm down and stop with any irrational behavior or you will lose her forever, and for the love of all that is holy stop yelling at the poor girl for cripes sakes, or I will personally beat the he*ck out of you, Meggie doesn't deserve that cr*ap!"
Ethan was impressed, he had never heard Parker so forceful with VJ, he also know Parker could easily take care of VJ so VJ if he was smart would listen to him.
Everyone calmed down and VJ asked if it was okay to talk to Meggie before he gave her her few days of absence, the boys both agreed that was fine, as long as he was on his best behavior. He agreed to keep in control from now on, he didn't want to lose Meggie...
They said their goodbyes...
As VJ left to go see Meggie Ethan turned to Parker impressed..."Dude, remind me to never get on your bad side, you're bad a*ss!!"
"I love Meggie and will fight VJ if he treats her bad...just like I'd fight for you..."
"You're such a great guy!"

VJ went over to Meggie's house and asked her if they could talk, for just a few minutes...Meggie agreed that would be fine.
"I'm really sorry about the way I've been behaving lately..." VJ started..
"I've been such a possessive jerk, I'm very jealous of your relationship with L...he's so perfect and I'm so...not...."
VJ started breaking down again for the second time today
Meggie was shocked, she had never ever seen VJ so broken, even after his mother left, he never cried..she didn't quite know how to handle it.
"Meggie, Please forgive me, for messing with your phone and computer, for yelling at you, for hitting you...please please forgive me for it, I'm going to try and be a much better boyfriend for you..I can't guarantee I'll be prefect but I'm really going to try..."
"I'll give you another chance VJ but please the jealousy has to stop, L and I are just friends, I'm with you because I want to be with you, not L."
"I talked to Parker and Ethan earlier and I want you to have your days for thinking, I think it will be good for both of us to take a breather..."
It was Meggie's turn to break down, she was actually crying from happiness, this VJ was the one she loved, not the possessive, jealous jerk...she was happier than she had been for a long time.
"I want you to get started with your alone, time, I'll see you Monday morning, this will be good for both of us..."
"Thank you VJ....."
Later that night in his backyard VJ lit the fire pit and threw all the notebooks into it, he wanted a fresh start with Meggie and giving up the fantasy would be a good way to clean the slate...he just had to hope for the best and pray his uncontrollable temper wouldn't eventually break them apart.
@Charlottesmom I don't know! He does seem contrite and does seem to want to try to be better but he has been living this relationship inside his head for too long! I guess time will tell. I am glad that Ethan and Parker know about it at least and hopefully they will keep an eye on the situation. Good luck, Meggie! I would not have given him another chance but who knows how I might have reacted when I was her age. I do remember doing some stupid relationship stuff after my father died when I was a teen.
I don’t know how to respond to this last update . It went a totally different direction than I was expecting it to. I thought Meggie had seen the light, although she is behaving like a true victim of abuse. I find it hard to believe that VJ will be able to change his ways, even if he feels guilty about the way he’s been treating her. He has clearly been involved in this relationship a lot longer than she has. I just hope that Ethan and Parker will keep an eye on VJ and watch for signs of his controlling behavior returning. I’m anxious to see how this plays out!

@bebasim , It was revealed in I think the update before last that VJ is the one with the obsession, and no stalkers in this story I do have one with Mortimer Goth being stalked by a wacko werewolf that I need to post here . L is just a sweet good guy. Yes, Light was very jealous and a bit controlling with Becky, he had his own set of issues (including secretly gay curious) that I wish I had explained a bit more in the story.
@jordand , I did a bit of reading up on the behavior of abused women and why they sometimes stay in an abusive relationship, I want Meggie realistic. VJ’s behavior is realistic too, the abuser and victim will sometimes go through a honeymoon phase where the abuser will stop the abuse, thus making the victim believe the abuser is capable of change....he may or may not be.
@Mikezumi , Totally right, VJ has been in this relationship far longer than Meggie, and in his version of the relationship there is no L taking the attention of Meggie away from him.

VJ was stunned by what he witnessed when he walked into Meggie's room, Meggie and L were deeply engrossed in each other in a romantic embrace and appeared on the verge of kissing each other. VJ had his suspicions about Meggie and L's relationship for awhile now and wondered exactly how innocent it was, he had believed Meggie when she said they were just really good friends. Now though it appeared his worse nightmare was coming true and Meggie was going to leave him for L, he couldn't let that happen...ever.
"Meggie what is going on here..." VJ asked in his best calm but upset voice.
Meggie however was on the defense, only because she was embarrassed that it had even happened, she was happy with VJ, why was she trying to kiss L??
"It was only a hug VJ, I was thanking L for my Birthday gift.."
"It looked like more than a hug to me.." VJ countered semi angrily and walked towards the door..
Meggie acted quickly and ran to him, "I'm sorry VJ, I just got caught up in the moment, I want to be with you.." she was trying her best to smooth things over..
L wandered over, he had been very quiet with the whole back and fourth between Meggie and VJ, it hurt him when Meggie said she wanted to be with VJ but in reality he knew he had to accept it or risk losing Meggie as a friend forever.
VJ was less forgiving of L than he had been of Meggie, he attacked..
"You...you knew she was my girlfriend why the he*ck would you try to kiss her??"
L didn't feel the need to explain himself to VJ, he knew what he and Meggie had almost done was wrong, so he remained silent.
Meggie didn't like VJ yelling at L and let him know in no uncertain terms..
"Don't you dare yell at L!! He had nothing to do with this it was my fault, I started it..he's my friend, he'll always be my friend, either you accept that or we are finished!!" L was impressed by Meggie's outburst, he just stood there grinning from ear to ear, tallying up the score in his head...L one, VJ zero!
L's tally however was about to take a deep cut..luckily he didn't see what happened next. VJ rushed out to the hallway..
Meggie gave L a hug and said she had to talk to VJ..L reluctantly let her go.
She caught up with VJ in the hall..
"I'm really sorry.." she said truthfully.
"You hurt me..." he started..
Meggie grabbed him into a kiss..and suddenly all was forgiven..
VJ presented her with a gift..he told her to open it in private...her mind was reeling wondering exactly what he had given her.
"Thank you in advance then..."

Jared called upstairs for Meggie telling her that it was time for her to blow out her candles..she came down with a big smile on her face and made her Birthday wish..

After cake she got to know some of the guests she hadn't met yet, she instantly loved L's brother Lee..he was 4 years younger than L, funny, nice and Meggie even dared think...cute. They were getting along great...he was very easy to talk to almost as easy as L.
it was almost like L could sense someone touching Meggie as he came into Connor's bedroom right as Lee was giving Meggie a second hug.
he sighed heavily and dragged Lee into the bathroom..
"Oh My God Lee, she has a boyfriend...!"

L remained silent for a few minutes so Lee tried another tack..
"Admit it or I'll ask her out!"
L was beaten, he knew Lee would ask her out, his brother was a bit of a He Ho, he would go out with whomever he liked for little or no reason, though he would never snag anyone that L truly liked, he really did love and respect his older brother, he just loved messing with him....it was very easy to do!
L sighed heavily and said.."Okay okay...I do like her..I admit it."
Lee grinned "Now that wasn't so hard was it big bro?"

Meggie met Jack, Connor and Jared's cousin, nice guy, not a big talker but pleasant enough.
As she walked back into the hall Lee showed up in his bathing suit, L told him there was a sauna and pool and was about to take full advantage, he needed a good steam...
"Hey beautiful...he addressed Meggie..."
"Hi Lee, gonna go swimming?"
"Nah, I though I might take a steam, my back is achy from basketball earlier today with L, he can still whoop my butt..."
They chatted for a few minutes when L showed up..
"I used to be pretty good at basketball, I haven't played for awhile though..." Meggie stated..
"Don't play against L, he's vicious!" Lee chuckled, "He'll slowly wear you down and make every bone in your body cry for mercy..but you'll still want to go for round two..and he'll wear you out all over again"
L was mentally rolling his eyes at his brother's choice of words, Lee had a gift of making almost anything sound vaguely se*Xu*al..
Meggie's eyes were bugging out of her head, she started picturing in her head L doing something very un-basketball like and had to escape downstairs quickly.
"Got her!" Lee muttered under his breath chuckling...he changed back into his clothes then he and L went downstairs..
L spotted Meggie and VJ all cozied up on the couch..
He couldn't take it anymore when they started making out on the couch..
and left without even saying goodbye.
His heart was pretty much breaking, he could live in la la land and pretend Meggie and VJ just talked whenever they were alone but seeing them making out in front of everyone was too much...it was all too real.
He drove the three hours back to the city trying to choke back tears...

"Any idea where L is, he was supposed to drive me back to the city..."
Meggie hadn't seen him since she and Lee were chatting in the hallway. "Huh, I haven't seen him for a few hours, though I was with VJ...so..." she replied
"VJ, is he your boyfriend?" Lee inquired
"Yes, he's my boyfriend.." Meggie answered
"L calls him a shifty brat, I don't think he cares for him too much.." Lee snickered
"I guess L doesn't like him as much as I do.."
"L is a big ball of jealous..."
"Why would L be jealous of VJ?" Meggie asked innocently
"Because silly girl, L is madly in love with you, any fool can see that!"
"Well I love L too, I have for years, he's my best friend.." Meggie said matter of factly
"No Meggie, L is IN love with you, there is a very big difference..."
"Now if you'll excuse me I have to text my moody brother and figure out how I'm going to get back to Bridgeport..."

"I'm taking the bus back tomorrow, can I crash here tonight?"
"Sure..." Meggie answered
Lee climbed onto the bed with Meggie and got comfortable.
"What are you watching..looks like some romantic cr*ap.."
"Do you have something against romance?" Meggie was genuinely interested in why Lee seemed so bitter about romance...but her thoughts got blurry and she fell asleep seeing as though it was almost 3:00 AM. Lee fell asleep soon after.

Meggie woke up the next morning and couldn't find Lee, she almost figured he went to catch the bus but Jared told her that he borrowed a pole and went down to do some fishing...
"What are you doing?" Meggie laughed, Lee certainly was a strange random guy.
"I'm a doin' some fishin' like the local yokels!" Lee said with a completely strait face...
Meggie laughed even harder, "You're so strange!!"
"Yup, I'm the funny one, L is the serious one.."
"L is funny..." Meggie sighed.
"Yup, L is a bucket of giggles...Hey lookie what I caught!!" Lee held up his prize. Meggie caught herself laughing at Lee again, he was an amusing guy.
Lee put away his pole..."My bus leaves in an hour, it was really good to meet you Meggie"
"It was wonderful meeting you too Lee, you certainly not what I expected in a brother of L's..."
"I'm not sure if that is good or bad." he smiled "I want you to keep in mind what I told you about L, it is completely true even if he doesn't want to admit yet, it probably has to do with you being so young, you are what...13 years younger than him, that is a huge age gap right now, you're still jail bait, no wonder he has cold feet.."
Meggie was silent, just thinking...Lee walked away and went to the bus station. "You're welcome L..." he said to himself smiling.

Weeks passed, VJ and Meggie were getting along fine as long as L was not "butting in" as VJ called it. Meggie had already cut out her daily calls to L, she now called him on Thursdays and Saturday mornings, and she only chatted with him when VJ was not around...VJ was getting a bit controlling and maybe even possessive according to L when Meggie told him about her needing to cut down on the communication with him, he kept his opinion to himself though.
VJ came over after school on Monday, he and Meggie liked playing pool together so they played a few rounds..
Then retired over to the couch for a lively chat about school..
Which of course became an all out cuddle session, Meggie liked VJ like this, calm and not griping about L..
right then her notification about a text went off..."Ignore it!" VJ demanded..
"I could be important..." Meggie countered..
It was L....
VJ had finally had enough...he was sick of L texting Meggie every 5 minutes and told her so..
"But he's my friend..." Meggie said quietly.
"I could care less! No more texting L!!"
"You know what VJ, scr*ew You!!"
and with that she went upstairs, she was sick of VJ right now.
"Meggie!! Get back here!!" he bellowed..she ignored him.
VJ followed her up to her room and burst right in breaking the door frame as Meggie had locked the door..."Don't you ignore me Meggie!!"
"Stop yelling VJ you're scaring me!" Meggie gasped, she was very scared of VJ right about now, this was a side of him she had never seen before.
"You will never see L again, do you hear me!!"
Meggie would never ever agree to that.."He's just a friend VJ, I WILL see him whenever I want to!!"
"Meggie you're such an id*io*t, he just wants to use you and throw you away!!"
"Shut it VJ, he's not like that at all!!"
"Don't talk back to me Meggie, you're MINE and you will never see that as*s hole again!!"
With that VJ was in such a rage he slapped Meggie..
Meggie stumbled over to her bed and burst into tears, nobody had ever struck her in her life and now VJ was hitting her...
VJ heard her and immediately the hostile mood was gone, he felt horrible...
He tried apologizing profusely..
Meggie was having none of it.."You hit me you je*rk!!"
Meggie look at VJ and decided this would be a great time to ditch him before she wound up really hurt, she really felt something for VJ but at this moment all she was feeling was hurt and rage that HE, someone who she thought she loved would hurt her.
She took that moment to break up with VJ...
VJ was obviously not happy about this and told Meggie he would win her back. He ran off to cool down.
She changed into her favorite bunny shirt slipped downstairs without anyone noticing and sat on the swings, just thinking...

Meggie called L after a while of thinking on the swings...she would ask him in a roundabout way what to do about VJ, she valued his opinion and she really did feel something for VJ, though at this point she felt it was anger.
L was of course glad to hear from Meggie...
Meggie got right to it..."L what would you do if someone hurt you but you really like them, would you forgive them or cut and run?" L figured this was about him leaving her Birthday party so abruptly without even saying goodbye, which was a really stoopid idea in hindsight.
"I would forgive him!" L answered quickly...
Meggie though it was strange L knew she was talking about another male...she probed a bit further.. "L, do you believe in second chances no matter what?" L again answered rapidly "Yes, everybody deserves a second chance!"
"Okay that's all I wanted to know, I'll take that advise and forgive him..." Meggie said without really thinking.
L was thoroughly confused.."Him who?" L questioned her..
"VJ...who did you think I was talking about?"
"I thought you were talking about me leaving without saying goodbye on your Birthday"
"L that was weeks ago, I've talked to you almost every day since then why do you think I'd be hurt by that all of a sudden...but wait WHY did you leave without saying goodbye to me it was my Birthday for cripes sakes!"
"You were busy...so I just left."
"I wasn't too busy to say goodbye to my best friend!!"
"You were lip locked with VJ..." L said quietly.
"Oh.....sorry...." was all Meggie could say. L didn't say anything for awhile and Meggie could tell he was upset, he always got really quiet when he was upset.
"L...."
"I'm fine Meggie, don't worry about it..."
The chatted about the weather and other meaningless subjects for awhile then L said he had to go. Meggie was confused about his behavior but figured he was just in a mood, everyone has a bad day now and again.
L hung up and just stood there for a second contemplating what VJ did to hurt Meggie...he didn't think it was a good idea to pry, she would tell him when she was good and ready.

The next morning Meggie went to get the mail and found two flower arrangements and a stuffed bunny on the front porch, she knew who they were from immediately. First impulse was to kick over the flowers and rip the rabbit's head off but anger subsided when she remembered what L said about deserving a second chance...
VJ deserved a second chance and Meggie would give him ONE...she gathered up her gifts, she texted VJ and told him she would like to see him tonight to talk. He agreed that was a very good idea.
She hoped she didn't just make a huge mistake...
VJ showed up to pick up Meggie, they decided to go to the Bistro to talk.
"I'm so sorry Meggie, I don't know what happened, I just lost it...I promised to never ever hit you ever again." he sniffled, poor boy was about in tears.
"You hurt me VJ, you're one of my best friends, I never ever thought you would hit me....ever..."
"Meggie I never wanted to hurt you and will never do it again, you have no idea how much you mean to me..."
"I forgive you VJ...."
Meggie couldn't help it, she wanted to stay mad at him longer but she couldn't seem to control herself and kissed him.
Then her inherited bad timing and verbal diarrhea kicked in and she uttered the one thing she wasn't even sure was true.."I love You VJ!"
In between kisses he declared "I've loved you for so long Meggie...I've always wanted you for my own.." for some reason that declaration both made Meggie feel really good and scared out of her mind.

They eventually found their way up to the Bistro...
After they ate they did some dancing, and more smooching...VJ was in heaven, he was having a great time with Meggie, it was just as it should be.
He presented her with a gift, he said it was the same thing she got for her Birthday only in a different color...Meggie tried to be gracious but he got her a slinky negligee for her Birthday and now he's giving her another?? There was no way she was even close to wanting to do anything in the bedroom with VJ at this point...she muttered a "thank you" she was polite after all.
Just then Meggie's text alert went off and her whole body clenched up...she thought 'Cr*ap L not right now!!' she knew VJ was going to lose it!
"Want me to ignore it..." she asked VJ quietly.
"No you can answer him..." VJ knew who it was immediately.
"What did you tell him?" VJ asked..
"I said I was on a date with you and I would talk to him later..is that okay?" Meggie asked cautiously
"I really wish you would just cut ties with him, he likes you too much, he's too old for you, he should start dating someone his own age and if you cut him off he might actually get the hint that you are mine."
"Okay..for you I'll tell him I need to stop talking to him, it will be better for us.." Meggie said really quietly, her heart fracturing in two, but there is no way she wanted VJ mad...
"You're doing the right thing my princess..." VJ smiled
Meggie cringed at the new pet name for her..

L hadn't heard from Meggie and it was 1:00 in the morning, he tried texting her, there was no reply, he tried calling her, it went right to messages, he decided to see if he could get her on chat on the computer...nothing, it was like she had fallen off the face of the Earth, panic was setting in.

Meggie had spent the night at VJ's after asking Jared's permission, they had spent all night awake playing video games so she couldn't even sneak away to try and get ahold of L, she also had promised VJ she wouldn't talk to him, but that promise was becoming impossible. The next morning she knew VJ was deeply engrossed on the computer doing a school research paper. Meggie hadn't talked to L since early last night, she Always texted him a goodnight. He was probably worried about her as it was the first time in 3 years since she got her phone that she hadn't said goodnight. She finally saw her chance...
She checked on VJ to make sure he was busy..
"Meggie why are you hovering, I have to get this paper done.."
"Sorry...I'm just headed to the bathroom.."
"Congratulations.." he muttered quietly under his breath, and went back to his Biology paper.
Meggie went into the bathroom, her heart was pounding, she knew VJ would kill her if he caught her doing what she was about to do..
Good she got him! She thought to herself, she had to talk really quiet so she told him Edward was sick and she was sitting beside his bed. She hated lying but it was the only way right now.
it was so good to hear his voice, all the stress seemed to drain from her body..
Little did Meggie know VJ was on the other side of the door listening...he couldn't hear much it almost sounded like Meggie was whispering.
Meggie had just hung up when VJ barged in..
"Who were you talking to?" he asked is a scary quiet voice, Meggie shivered...and stuttered out
"Edward, he's sick and said he had a headache so I didn't want to make him feel worse, I actually have to go home because Jared needs to go to work and needs me to watch him."
She went to leave...
"Um, Meggie....." he called after her..
"Kiss..."
she really didn't feel like kissing him right now but decided to keep the peace..
she made her exit with a sigh of relief. she was really starting to feel nigglings of dislike for VJ..
VJ decided to record the morning in his notebook, he knew darn well Meggie was talking to L in the bathroom.
He wrote down every detail, what she said, what she was wearing, what they played last night how they had danced last night and what he was feeling about her...this was actually his 5th notebook, the other 4 had been filled in the past 3 years. VJ had started keeping the notebooks the day he realized his mother would never be coming back. She had walked out on his father but even worse had walked out him and his little brother's lives forever....and it hurt!
His mother had been his best friend, he loved and adored her and she just up and left, he vowed that the only other female he had such strong feelings for would never leave him, he would never forget the good times they had together. He decided to keep a log of everything he and Meggie did together, he had started to forget things about his mom and never wanted that to happen with Meggie. It started out innocently enough but sometime after Meggie turned 15 feelings developed in VJ that were more than friendly, it was growing every year and becoming all consuming...one could almost call it an Obsession...
He scribbled furiously, remembering every detail, writing down how her eyelashes fluttered right before he leaned in to kiss her, how her little sighs drove him crazy and made him want to devour her.. How he felt when he knew she was lying about having to go home and take care of her little brother, he could tell it was a big fat lie, it was obvious in the tilt of her chin and the look in her eyes, she lied.
It was okay though as he had taken care of her being able to get ahold of L easily.
He swiped her phone from her back pocket when she was kissing him goodbye, and had taken all her contacts off her computer and deleted the chat program last time he was over her house. She could get ahold of L if she really tried but he wasn't going to make it easy.
He then decided to take action....
he dialed L..."Meggie, how is Edward?" L asked immediately..
"It's not Meggie L, she lied to you about Edward, he's not sick.."
"Who is this?" L questioned
"Her boyfriend..." VJ sneared into the phone "She's mine and you will never hear from her again!" *Click* he hung up the phone turned it off and tossed it on the desk before L could even reply. 'That should take care of that as*shol*e' he muttered to himself.

L spent the better part of an hour trying to get Meggie on her cell, no answer, right into voice mail..then he called the house, no answer, then he tried chat, no sign of Meggie anywhere! He was ready to pull out his hair, he hightailed it over to Lee's apartment (Lee decided to move to Bridgeport to further his directing career and be closer to his big brother).
"Whatz up elder bro...geeze you look stressed, you should visit your spa!" Lee chuckled..
"Not now Lee! Meggie finally called, she's okay. Then her POS boyfriend just called and said I would never hear from her again...and now I can't get ahold of her! He better not be hurting her Lee, I'll kill him if he hurts her!"
"L, I'm sure she's fine, though her boyfriend really does sound like a piece of work..."
"I really am starting to think he has a few major screws loose! He messed with the chat passwords somehow, can you get it working Lee?"
"Do you doubt my mad electronic fiddling with skills??" Lee faked looking shocked..
L being stressed out and way too impatient went right over to Lee's laptop and started furiously typing in codes, Lee walked over and calmly told L "Move you keister bro, you're gonna kill my laptop banging on the keys like that, I'll have you chatting with sweet little Meggie in a matter of hours."
"I hope so, I need to know she's okay..." L looked so worried Lee felt really bad for him.

So now we know about the notebook the boys were holding against VJ when they were younger! But it seems like it's much worse now than it was back then. I am sure the boys would be mortified if they knew what VJ was doing now!
I hope that niggling feeling that Meggie has grows and she gets some sense! And I hope that L gets to her soon! It's good that L and Lee's help. I think he will need it!

Meggie got all the way home and couldn't find her phone, she figured she must have left it at VJ's house so she headed right back.
"Hi VJ, did you happen to see my phone anywhere?"
"Do you mean This phone, you sure do text L an awful lot, and I checked you last outgoing call, guess who it was to...want to guess Meggie, after I told you to not talk to him anymore!"
"Just give me my phone VJ..."
"Fine...here take you stooped phone...call him all you want for all I care!"
"Thank you VJ....I'll see you later..." and she booked it home before he could say anything else to her.

Home 10 minutes later...Edward was doing homework on Meggie's computer.
"Hey Squirt.." Meggie greeted him ruffling his hair.
"Hi Megs, I just need to finish this up, dad keep taking his laptop to work so I never get to use it."
"Your Birthday is coming up maybe Connor will buy you your own laptop."
"It sounds so funny when you call my dad Connor..." Edward laughed
"Well Connor is his name, silly boy and he's not related to me only you.."
"You should call him dad..." Edward mused...
Meggie made a face, "um, not gonna happen Squirt."
She immediately got on her phone to talk to L, but found all her contacts were erased and some sort of weird jamming was going on, not letting her text or call anyone.
"VJ...." Meggie whispered..
She tried shutting it off then turning it back on...it didn't help...."Sh*it!!" she yelled..
"Megs, don't cuss!!" Edward scolded from the computer..
Meggie started crying from frustration..
Edward was startled, he rarely heard Meggie cry, he got up to see what was wrong.
"Megs, what's wrong.." Meggie dried her eyes, they were red from crying.
Meggie didn't answer, it was nothing Edward needed to worry about, she bent down and gave her beautiful little brother a huge hug and whispered that he was the best brother ever into his ear.
"I love you Megs!!"
"I love you too Squirt!" come on I'll tuck you in it's way past your bedtime.
Every time she looked at Edward she missed her mother so much, he was such a sweet kid.
Meggie walked down to the bathroom and splashed some water on her face, she looked horrible, the puffy red eyes from crying were not her friend.
She was so deep in thought staring blankly into the mirror she didn't notice Jared had come into the bathroom and was looking at her in the mirror..
"Good God Meggie what happened to you?" Jared asked concerned..
"VJ and I had a disagreement." she muttered..
"Ah young love..." Jared chuckled..
"I don't love him!" Meggie yelled throwing Jared off a bit, Meggie rarely ever yelled at him.
"Sorry Jared, he broke my phone so I'm a bit peeved at him right now..."
"Come here....." He gave her a hug, she looked like she really needed one.
"Let me take a look at your phone, if I can't fix it I can always buy you a new one, you've had that one for three years.." They went back to her room and she gave Jared the phone.
Jared fiddled with it for about 5 minutes and announced...."Well Meggie it looks like this phone...."
"Is fixed!"
"Jared you're super awesome!!" Meggie laughed...

"All fixed L!! Have at her..." Lee yelled triumphantly...L practically shoved Lee out of the way trying to get ahold of Meggie.
He got right to chat and started rapidly posting to Meggie making sure she was okay. Meggie assured him she was fine, she told him about VJ's messing with her phone,
after three posts from Meggie though chat blinked out and there was nothing but a black screen. L texted Meggie to ask if she was having the same problem, she was and had Jared on it already trying to fix it. They chatted while Jared and Lee worked on the computers. It was taking a while and Meggie was getting tired so she and L hung up...Jared continued working on the computer.
"I think someone changed your password but allowed you to use it once before they set the chat to implode..."
"VJ....he was the only one that would do that.." Meggie told Jared.
"Why would VJ do that?" Jared asked curiously eyes still to the computer..
"Because he hates me chatting with L...he's jealous or something."
"You don't need that crud in your life Meggie, he broke your phone and messed with your laptop, that is a big issue. I had a super jealous girlfriend once, it was he*ll!" Jared stated while still working on the computer, which he had fixed and was now signing her into chat so she could talk to L..
"Really? what was her name?"
"Claire..."
Just then Connor walked in..."Claire...jeeze that's a blast from the past..." Connor chuckled.
"Connor you know you liked her too until you discovered she was such an odd duck and a possessive one at that.." Meggie if he's jealous and possessive you should ditch him, he'll be nothing but trouble in the future."
"Totally agree..." added Connor
"I'll definitely think long and hard about that.." Meggie smiled.
Hugs for Connor this time..
"Meggie, did you take these pictures of L, they're really good..." Jared asked
Maybe you should take up photography or something to occupy your time and keep you away from VJ. How about Ethan and Parker, do they know about VJ and his jealousy?"
"No, they don't know.."
"I think you should tell them." Jared said, and both brothers shook their heads in agreement yet again.
Meggie had to laugh, Connor and Jared were wonderful "dads" to her.

But this VJ eeerk i didn't like him from the minute go and cringed every time Meggie was with him.... I just hope he doesn't do worse creeps like that should get a taste of their own medicine.
I agree i think Meggie and L really need to talk and get everything off their chests. Meggie needs to tell L what really is happening and L needs to tell her too, not that it would make it easier on poor Meggie but oh boy..... i just wonder what else this VJ creep can get up to grrrr.. So dooo NOT like him!!!

Meggie decided that a few days of peace and quiet was what she needed right now, she texted L and told him she wanted to have a few quiet days, starting tomorrow, no texting, only one little bit of chatting at night right before bed and no calls, she needed to think and clear her head. L was a little worried about her but at least they could chat at night, that made him feel better.
She called Ethan and Parker over, she wanted to ask them about VJ's behavior...she was closest to VJ and had been since they were very small kids but his outbursts lately were driving her away, she was beginning see him in a new not so flattering light.
"Have you guys noticed anything about VJ's behavior lately, he yelled at me a few times and..." her voice faded away.
"and what?" Ethan asked
"and he...well he...he's acting all possessive and weird" she had chicken out, she wanted to tell them about the slap but she was protecting VJ for some reason it seemed.
"Possessive....like how?" Ethan asked.
Meggie explained the things VJ had done to her phone and computer (or at least she thought VJ had been the one to sabotage her chat feature on the computer). "I want to tell him to leave me alone for a few days so I can think things through ya know.."
Ethan wondered if this had to do with VJ's notebook, Ethan had been looking for VJ's soccer socks for him 3 years ago and found the notebook, he innocently looked at it and was a bit shocked. VJ had run over and knocked it out of Ethan's hands but Ethan had seen enough, he asked VJ about it but VJ clamped up and told Ethan to not worry about it. Ethan and Parker waited till VJ was asleep when they were sleeping over his house a few days after that and looked for the notebook, they were able to read ten pages then put it back. Mostly it seemed a diary of sorts to their thirteen year old brains, they agreed it was a bit strange but not majorly creepy. Parker had looked for it once again last year but VJ must have moved it because it wasn't in that drawer anymore.
"Yeah, I think we'll have a talk with him Meggie...we'll tell him to leave you alone for a few days so you can think.." Ethan said and Parker agreed.
"Thanks guys!" Meggie was an emotional wreck and shed a few tears while thanking both of her friends.

"We should have told her Ethan!"
"There is no need to freak her out Parker, the notebook was a bit strange but he never wrote anything bad about Meggie, plus it was years ago...do you actually think he still does it?" Ethan argued back...
"Yeah, that's true, it was three years ago.." Parker agreed "Though we really need to talk to him about his fooling with her phone and computer, what the he*ck do you think that's all about?"
"I'm not sure, but VJ sure has some explaining to do..."

Meanwhile.....in Bridgeport.
L and Meggie were chatting about small stuff, the weather, her future photography classes, how the kids were doing..Meggie purposely avoided the subject of VJ.
There was a loud banging on the door and a "Open up big bro the Zombies are chasing us!!" and laughing from the other side of the door..
L chuckled, he brother was a true dork, he yelled "Just get in here...Zombie-less please!" and told Meggie he would chat later, Lee had just come over.
Lee strolled in with his on again off again girlfriend Eve...
"Hey Eve, long time no see..." L greeted her, Eve was the most "normal" of all of Lee's Ex girlfriends, he liked her.
"Hey L, is my brat of a boyfriend treating you okay?" Eve quizzed L..
"He's as obnoxious as ever...but then you know how how he is..."
"Sure do, no idea why I'm with him again, he is a monster.." Eve laughed..
"Ummm, I can hear you two!!" Lee interrupted them.
Lee went over to get a coffee. "So how is life treating you L, I hear the spa will be opening in a matter of months.."
"Yeah, we hit a few delays with some of the equipment but everything should be delivered and up in running in a few months. The grand opening right after all the finishing touches. I'm actually hoping to open on Meggie's 18th Birthday as a surprise to her, she can try out everything for me." L smiled.
Eve just smiled knowingly...L had an incoming call..."I gotta take this Eve..."
"Hi Meggie!"
"Is your computer still running okay, mine seems to be fixed.."
Eve observed, she was a people watcher...she went over to Lee and whispered "Dude, you are so right, he freaking loves that girl!"
"I told you, you should see them together, it's totally obvious, a little sickening really.." Lee made gagging noises which L who was now off the phone noticed.
"What's sickening?" L asked curiously.
"Oh nothing..." Eve stated. "Hey Lee, we gotta get going or we're going to miss the poetry reading at the library!"
"Kill me now..." Lee said a bit too loud.
"Bye my big bro!" Lee said hugging his brother..
"See ya Eve...have fun with the poetry..."
"Oh I will, just watching Lee squirm for 2 hours will be worth it!" Eve giggled..

I just hope that VJ doesn't do something to hurt Meggie in a very sinister manner. I want him to die! lol my bad but i so do not like him! Lock him up sick plum!
The next day after school Meggie knew Ethan and Parker were going to talk to VJ so she headed to the library for some "me time" her relationship with VJ was draining. She was looking forward to a few days of peace and quiet, even from L, she was getting way to dependent on him to even make it though the day, they texted constantly, chatted on the computer a few times per day and called each other at least once a day...even for best friends it was bordering on severely co-dependent...he wasn't her boyfriend VJ, was she should make more of an effort with VJ.
Parker told VJ he and Ethan wanted to talk to him about something very important..
"Go ahead..." VJ was curious..
"Did you yell at Meggie?"
VJ was taken aback that was the very last thing he expected Parker to ask..
"We've had our disagreements...and I may have raised my voice on occasion"
"What were you disagreeing about?" Parker probed further...
"Meggie and L's relationship...she texts him constantly, and calls him every day, they talk more than we do!"
"They're friends VJ, they have been since her dad died, you know that!" Ethan added.
"Are you jealous of L?" Parker asked..
"No, but I wish she would talk to ME, she's my girlfriend, I want to be with her, spend time with her...I've waited for her since we were 13, even you two got to her before me and you're gay!" VJ was getting very upset and the tears stated rolling down his cheeks..
Ethan reached over and gathered his friend up into a supportive hug, VJ could be a major a*ss but he knew there was really a good guy under all the hurting.
Parker felt the need to give him a hug too...
They went over to sit down, there was one more very important question they had to ask VJ about..
"VJ do you still have that notebook?" Parker asked.
".........Yes.....actually I have more than one...I was just using them as a diary of what Meggie and I did everyday." VJ answered honestly.
"You don't find that creepy?" Parker asked puzzled..
"No, I wasn't writing anything bad, just stuff about my feelings for Meggie and stuff."
What Parker and Ethan didn't know was VJ was also writing out fantasies about him and Meggie, how he was planning on marrying her, how they would move from Appaloosa to somewhere where nobody knew them and they could start a new life. That wasn't weird was it, VJ had never suspected it was, he wanted his life with Meggie better than his dad's had been with his mom, his family abandoning mother...he hated her for leaving, he would never let Meggie leave him, he would Make her love him...forever.

"Is she going to stop talking to L too?" VJ raised his voice a little, getting upset..
"Yes, I believe she wanted time away from everyone, that includes L.."
"I hope so, HE's the reason Meggie and I are unhappy right now..."
"VJ your temper and jealousy are the reasons you and Meggie are not happy right now, she really likes you but you need to calm down and stop with any irrational behavior or you will lose her forever, and for the love of all that is holy stop yelling at the poor girl for cripes sakes, or I will personally beat the he*ck out of you, Meggie doesn't deserve that cr*ap!"
Ethan was impressed, he had never heard Parker so forceful with VJ, he also know Parker could easily take care of VJ so VJ if he was smart would listen to him.
Everyone calmed down and VJ asked if it was okay to talk to Meggie before he gave her her few days of absence, the boys both agreed that was fine, as long as he was on his best behavior. He agreed to keep in control from now on, he didn't want to lose Meggie...
They said their goodbyes...
As VJ left to go see Meggie Ethan turned to Parker impressed..."Dude, remind me to never get on your bad side, you're bad a*ss!!"
"I love Meggie and will fight VJ if he treats her bad...just like I'd fight for you..."
"You're such a great guy!"

VJ went over to Meggie's house and asked her if they could talk, for just a few minutes...Meggie agreed that would be fine.
"I'm really sorry about the way I've been behaving lately..." VJ started..
"I've been such a possessive jerk, I'm very jealous of your relationship with L...he's so perfect and I'm so...not...."
VJ started breaking down again for the second time today
Meggie was shocked, she had never ever seen VJ so broken, even after his mother left, he never cried..she didn't quite know how to handle it.
"Meggie, Please forgive me, for messing with your phone and computer, for yelling at you, for hitting you...please please forgive me for it, I'm going to try and be a much better boyfriend for you..I can't guarantee I'll be prefect but I'm really going to try..."
"I'll give you another chance VJ but please the jealousy has to stop, L and I are just friends, I'm with you because I want to be with you, not L."
"I talked to Parker and Ethan earlier and I want you to have your days for thinking, I think it will be good for both of us to take a breather..."
It was Meggie's turn to break down, she was actually crying from happiness, this VJ was the one she loved, not the possessive, jealous jerk...she was happier than she had been for a long time.
"I want you to get started with your alone, time, I'll see you Monday morning, this will be good for both of us..."
"Thank you VJ....."
Later that night in his backyard VJ lit the fire pit and threw all the notebooks into it, he wanted a fresh start with Meggie and giving up the fantasy would be a good way to clean the slate...he just had to hope for the best and pray his uncontrollable temper wouldn't eventually break them apart.
He watched the notebooks turn to ash....

I just love Ethan and Parker it's so great Meggie has them in her life.
As for Vj hmmmmm it's like history is repeating it's self...? wasn't her mother in a similar relationship with her father before she died??? I remember someone was very jealous.....
My belief in life is everyone deserves a second chance yes but once a cheater always a cheater... same as hitters etc.. However seeing another side to Vj hmmmmmmm,
Could this be the sting for a bigger plan or is he truly genuine? Maybe L might be the stalker??? a hottie one....
@bebasim , It was revealed in I think the update before last that VJ is the one with the obsession, and no stalkers in this story I do have one with Mortimer Goth being stalked by a wacko werewolf that I need to post here
@jordand , I did a bit of reading up on the behavior of abused women and why they sometimes stay in an abusive relationship, I want Meggie realistic. VJ’s behavior is realistic too, the abuser and victim will sometimes go through a honeymoon phase where the abuser will stop the abuse, thus making the victim believe the abuser is capable of change....he may or may not be.
@Mikezumi , Totally right, VJ has been in this relationship far longer than Meggie, and in his version of the relationship there is no L taking the attention of Meggie away from him.
