I did not have this problem. No mods, no cc. My Sims from many different households visit several restaurants in my game and I don't see this issue since Parenthood. However, I haven't played since the last one line patch last week 6/5? So, maybe that one broke something? Because last time I played after Parenthood as I said my Sims visit many restaurants with no one standing around their tables. Granted I stopped putting speakers in restaurants last year.

Chez Llama is the only one I've used. It seems to work fine for date night, no problems.

I am having a sim manage a restaurant for the first time, and I notice it too. It sort of happens in waves. At times they will all be sitting then someone gets up to dance to the music and they all follow suit.

I made a restaurant that had an upstairs "apartment" for aesthetic purposes, but when I had my sims visit, they kept going up there to watch tv instead of staying at their table. :| I blocked the doors with tables, but they'd still try to go up there, so I ended up deleting everything that would draw them away from their seats and that finally got them to behave. It was such a pain.

I just think every pack they release some bugs resurface looking at how they write so much code for each pack. The AI appears to be an problem at times.

Did you set the door lock to 'allow so and so only?" you have to do that if you want to live above a restaurant or business. Yes, TVs and Radios are distractions while they wait for food. I have found my restaurants either NPC or my Sim's owned ones, work better if I put a sofa or bench out near the podium so they can sit and chat while they wait for a table. Also, those in clubs who are set to meet at restaurants never really eat, but stand around and talk and interrupt others. I would cancel those clubs and not have any of them in the game because when you see them out they never sit to order or eat. They just stand around in the way yaking.

For a good while it didn't matter if there were distractions in the restaurant because Sims would stay seated. Now they're not staying seated with said distractions in the restaurant. They would only use 'distracting' objects if they were waiting to be seated.

Maybe one of these later patches broke the previous patch which actually fixed your problem seveal months ago.

A while back I was running a restaurant and guests would get up before the meal arrived to go jogging. Even the waiters were doing it. It was so annoying I haven't gone back to managing that restaurant since. Dine Out needs fixing.

Thank god i thought it might be just me lol
I decided to go back and revist running my own restaurant from scratch. Built a nice little cafe and on opening day expected it to be like it was a couple of months ago. What a mistaka to maka!
Total pandemonium!! Sims come in and get seated and then decide to wander outside, stare into space, come back inside, talk to everybody and anybody, stand and eat, eat in the toilets and wont leave when they've finished eating.
I thought it might be from mods so i took everything out and ran vanilla Sims 4 but nope its turned a peaceful dining experience into an all in social brawl! Those who do sit and eat are constantly crowded but people gathering around their table to talk
Please fix! Meanwhile ill go back to banging my head against the monitor

Look at this Sim going for a jog while she's waiting for her lunch. Kudos to her for making the most of her time. Isn't this just wonderful? :)

No, you are not alone @uo_aaronjd . Wether you run the restaurant or are simply a client the experience is terribly frustrating. I used to use restaurants a lot to raise the frienship bar. Since the Sims in the restaurants would not wander but stay seated they would stay in conversations. But now in my game they will stand up to «contemplate» any decoration in the restaurant, even the paper towel dipenser in the toilet, go jogging, get all in a corner to talk, talk, talk or play any instruments they have in their inventory, load the tables with their books and homeworks or decide to gather in the kitchen,. Or they will go do the dishes or clean the children's mess. Taking off the autonomy will help for the played family but not for the orther clients. And I have the desagreable impression that the bugs are piling up and never get repaired.

It's weird, I've been playing Raj (CL premade) and setting him up with a restaurant, sometimes it works great, other times it's awful (I did delete the TV). The worst was the night one of my high level singers was at the restaurant and sung constantly. Customers and staff constantly ran over to his table to listen.

Definitely needs a look from the team as something seems to have been changed here.

It might be the jogging bug of late that has messed up your restaurants.

@cameronw209 - Oh yeah, Dine Out is like completely nerfed. Not sure what's happened since the game was released. I was so impressed with how restaurants functioned previously. Now, as you said it's a complete zoo. I have that one trait where you can Recommend a dish, & the Sim never stays seated long enough for my Sim to recommend anything.

I have a totally stripped down restaurant.....no aquarium, no piano, no paintings, no bar, etc...& they still get up and talk. Driving me crazy lol

Exactly. I have small restaurants with nothing in them and Sims standing around talking or getting up to go for a jog, wash their hands or talk to other Sims at their tables. They will be seated by the host and then get up again. Not sure how this is acceptable gameplay to some people, especially when it has worked far, far better than this beforehand.

Maybe you weren't aware that having speakers in your restaurant was no longer a problem :) Although, now it seems to be a problem again, so having small restaurants with no decor or speakers could be an ideal intermittent fix for some.

I'm running into this problem all of a sudden and it's so frustrating.. So I builded a breakfast/lunch café from scratch. At first it worked perfectly fine but since 3 days I start having problems. Sims are especially leaving there seats and start talking to other Sims. When my waiter then brings the food to the table they grab their food but don't sit down, no they stand up eating it. And often just leave uneaten food on the table. Sad thing is I can't put those plates in the fridge I can only throw them away or eat them..It's driving me crazy and really ruines the experience :(

In one of my restaurants they will even grab plate and glass to go eat on a sofa and they put the food on the floor. They will play the guitar or the violin if they have one in their inventory or do their homework. I have many restaurants in my game because for me it was a wonderful way to socialise. The sims would stay seated and talk to one another thus raising the friendship and love bar. Wonderful place for love interactions. But now I avoid restaurants totally. And it is the same if you are a client or if you run the place.

Have you been able to reproduce it ? Are you still looking for lots that are showing the issue ? :)

Remove the speakers. You can put in a jukebox then only turn it on when you feel like it. It works out much better that way.

I did use the Spa Day speakers and never had that problem.
