It was a month after Joe's death and things were slowly getting back to normal, though normal was not what it was before his death.
Bessie and Xander were spending a lot of time with Caroline and spent quite a bit of time at the Frio household. Buster was invited over most of the time too. Connor thought it was chaos and preferred to either have his nose in a book or to hide in his room writing stories on his computer.
Jared was withdrawn and refused to talk to anyone except Connor and sometimes Paulo, he would occasionally mutter a "hi" to Xander when his family visited.
He took great pride in the fish tank, as he and Joe had bought it together and picked out what fish would go into it, they both agreed goldfish were the most wonderful personable of fish. Their goldfish were all named and answered to their names when Jared or Joe talked to them.
He was feeding them and noticed Eliza floating on the top, this brought Joe's death flooding back to the forefront of his mind...he scooped her out...
and started crying then and there, he didn't care who saw him, he missed his father so much...
Jared had to get out of the house, he ran and ran way up to the fishing spot he and Paulo discovered one day, it was nice and private.
He built a fire in the fire pit and sat there and thought about his father, he regretted terribly not being a better son. He and Joe fought all the time, as Jared had a horrible temper....his father did too. He was still very mad about Jamie, how could his father cheat on his mother with Jamie's mom, it killed him that Jamie was his half sister, he really liked her....more than he should like his half sister.
All these thoughts buzzed through Jared's head, he couldn't deal with is all anymore and just wanted to sleep, he felt so tired...
A week later it was Xander's Birthday and everyone came out to celebrate, Jared was not in the mood to celebrate, he just wanted to be left alone.
Bessie looks shocked that her boy is now officially a YA! (YA to me starts at age 19)
First order of business, get a drink! Not quite legal but no one cared.
Jared though that was a great idea and decided to try one too...
Xander egged Jared on telling him to have another one, Jared obliged.
Xander and Paulo played foosball together.
Jared told his mom he wanted to go home, he was tired...he was actually feeling a bit dizzy and not quite himself from the drinks.
Caroline told him to take a taxi strait home and get some rest, they would be home later, she knew had snuck some drinks but decided a lecture about underage drinking was a talk for another time (like when Jared was sober!).
Jared spotted the new family that had moved into the house across the street as the cab dropped him off, he decided to go make introductions, the drink was making him braver.
He got closer to the girl who seemed around his age who was playing with her kicky bag. He cleared his throat and waited for her to finish playing...
The girl looked up at Jared as she gripped his hand in introduction Jared felt his heart do a flop, the girl was beautiful....
He suddenly felt his face go red and his hands starting to sweat...he sputtered out "I'm Jared Frio...."
She seemed amused by Jared's tongue tied introduction...and replied "Hi Jared, I'm Pearl, Pearl Yang"
They spent the next hour chatting about everything and nothing..
The subject of Joe did come up as Pearl had read about the accident in the newspaper, but Jared looked so stressed when she started asking about his father she dropped the subject quickly.
Later that night Pearl looked out of her bedroom window and wondered what room was Jared's....
Jared was doing the same thing...
This update killed me more so than the funeral, which was more annoying than emotional...trying to get everyone together and mourn all at once without changing into work clothes or bathing suits as the "graveyard" was really in the Alto's yard!
The pictures of Jared crying by the fish tank literally had me bawling! That has only happened to me one other time, when I finally finished Entwined, I cried for about 15 minutes after I posted the ending.
Ironcally she and two other wild horses where at the fishing spot Jared went to think....maybe a sign???
I actually made Pearl a family (She is a real Sim from ST, but had no parents (oh, and she's a YA in ST).

While taking pictures of them on their empty lot, while I decided on which house to put them in a car drove by in the background, I recognized it.......
It was Joe!!! I refuse to delete him, so he disappears when he might be in a shot he shouldn't be in. . I didn't realize it but he (his stunt double ) was in Caroline's car when he had the accident....this is his real car.
@Charlottesmom Awesome update! It is good to see the families still bonding, well, as best they can. That was heartbreaking with Jared and the fish tank. I want to just hug him! Pearl is a cutie teen!! That is a super surprise. The unicorn is gorgeous. Cheeky Joe driving around when he is supposed to be dead! You really are just a marshmallow even though you write sad stories. Oh...btw, Xander is very handsome as a YA. I want to see more of that!

@Charlottesmom , I just caught up on the last two updates. It was so heartwarming that Caroline visited Bessie and comforted her! I laughed when I saw the screenshot of Connor changing into his bathing costume during the funeral, but after reading your explanation it makes sense that he did that. Teenage Pearl Yang is so adorable. I like the family you made for her too! Her and Jared's meeting was very sweet, but ... it can't end well, can it, if Jared has to end up mean-spirited and single? I have a feeling his troubles are not over!

Jared was quite smitten with Pearl his new across the street neighbor and decided he would like to get to know her better. A quick but nervous phone call to Pearl was soon met with smiles and excited chatting as Pearl was very glad to hear from Jared.
It was decided that they would meet later on in the day at the Diner for dinner. Pearl was excited at the thought of her first semi date, she had gone out with boys before but it was mostly just making out in the woods, the only boy she really liked had rejected her months before. Jared was the first boy she was really interested in since him....he had effectively broken her heart, maybe Jared could heal it.
On her way to meet Jared...
Pearl was very happy to see Jared...
She threw herself into his arms..Jared had no problem with this display.
Dinner time..
A full tummy and some stimulating conversation will put anyone in a good mood...
Jared loved that Pearl was so affectionate...it seemed he had been starving for affection ever since he discovered Jamie was off limits.
Some flowers for the lady...always a sweet romantic gesture..
He couldn't stop himself as he moved closer, pulled her close and gave her a lingering kiss..
Jared then before his brain could even register what he was saying blurted out the only three words that Pearl was not ready to hear again..."I love You"...
"No!" she yelled...."No, you don't love me, we just met...how could you say that Jared, you're ruining everything!"
Jared didn't understand what was going on, he wanted to back petal and take back the obviously rage inducing words but there was no going back, it was out there. Jared decided to let Pearl leave before a huge fight broke out, she was on the verge of tears and her body language said he would get nowhere trying to apologize.

Meanwhile a mere 15 feet away a romance was being rekindled...
Bert had been calling Caroline for about a week, he had wanted to get back in touch with her since the funeral but decided to give Caroline some time to grieve..Caroline finally agreed to meet him.
Bert and Vita were good friends, they met when Bert was in college and Vita was a teachers aide. Bert brought Vita home for Christmas one year and introduced Vita to Nick. In one of their marathon phone chats Vita had angrily informed Bert of Nick's affair with Caroline when she found out about it which was months after it happened, Bert was shocked and extremely mad but he realized he had messed up big time and really couldn't blame her..though he had no idea how Caroline had met Nick as he had never introduced the two and Nick had only heard of Caroline in the very rare phone calls to his brother and had never seen her, Vita had met her on two occasions, that is how she knew who she was when she saw another woman wrapped around her husband..
Bert had hoped Caroline would be willing to give their relationship another try when they met up 15 years ago when they had their one night stand. Bert then found out Caroline was married and his hopes were shattered. The past didn't matter to Bert now, he was determined to get back together with Caroline, he had gotten his womanizing days out of his system and was ready to settle down, he had missed Caroline very much when she left him and decided it was time to grow up and try and win her back. Bert decided it was time to break off his friendship with Vita when Vita started referring to Caroline as "that little tramp."
The past seemed to vanish when Bert embraced her...it was the first time Caroline had felt really loved in years, Bert had always loved her but kept his feeling tightly in check as he knew love brought nothing but heartache....Bert suddenly realized he had heartache even though he never truly gave his heart to anyone. Now was the time to finally admit his love for someone, someone he had loved for years.
He whispered "I love you Caroline, I always have I always will.." to her and her response was taken as a very good sign...

I do feel bad about screwing up Jared's life so much but if he had a wonderful life full of flowers and bunnies he wouldn't be the mean spirited poo poo head he is at the beginning of SV saves. My goal is to end the story exactly as it would be on opening a brand new SV save. I predict only about 5 more updates, 6 tops as I'm not adding in a few things that are not really necessary.
@Charlottesmom Hmm...so Pearl has been on other dates before but they were just makeout sessions? I trust that her interest in Jared is genuine, based on what you wrote, but my goodness why do I get the feeling she is going to break the poor boy's heart? Pearl was sent to camp by her parents, it was lame and she hated it so she snuck out and found a nice private bridge, it was pretty and she liked watching the water. A boy approached her, she knew this boy he was one of the most popular boys in school.
"Hi Thornton" she said confidently..
Thornton replied "Hey Pearl" back...Pearl was surprised he knew her name though she had been getting more popular last school year being on the cheerleading squad.
They had a wonderful chat about school, friends, sports, and thoughts on being a senior in a few weeks.
All of a sudden Thornton lunged forward and kissed the daylights out of Pearl!
Her mind was reeling...but she couldn't resist him, she had in truth had a crush on him for two years...
He leaned in and whispered "I've wanted to do that forever!"
They spend the rest of the afternoon avoiding camp and talking, laughing and making out.
They were inseparable for the remainder of the summer...their last day of summer they spend the night together at an out of the way fishing spot Thornton had found earlier.
It was then that Thornton uttered those three words every wildly romantic teenage girl longs to hear "I love you" spilled from his lips...
Pearl was overjoyed!

They decided to get back before curfew (for once)...
They would be going home the next day...luckily they lived in the same town so they could see each other.

A short one....Flashback to camp 4 months ago...
Pearl was sent to camp by her parents, it was lame and she hated it so she snuck out and found a nice private bridge, it was pretty and she liked watching the water. A boy approached her, she knew this boy he was one of the most popular boys in school.
"Hi Thornton" she said confidently..
Thornton replied "Hey Pearl" back...Pearl was surprised he knew her name though she had been getting more popular last school year being on the cheerleading squad.
They had a wonderful chat about school, friends, sports, and thoughts on being a senior in a few weeks.
All of a sudden Thornton lunged forward and kissed the daylights out of Pearl!
Her mind was reeling...but she couldn't resist him, she had in truth had a crush on him for two years...
He leaned in and whispered "I've wanted to do that forever!"
They spend the rest of the afternoon avoiding camp and talking, laughing and making out.
They were inseparable for the remainder of the summer...their last day of summer they spend the night together at an out of the way fishing spot Thornton had found earlier.
It was then that Thornton uttered those three words every wildly romantic teenage girl longs to hear "I love you" spilled from his lips...
Pearl was overjoyed!
They spend some time enjoying the fire..
They decided to get back before curfew (for once)...
They would be going home the next day...luckily they lived in the same town so they could see each other.
