Stairs make sims stuck in a t-pose

I've had this bug in my game since the Vampires pack and I remember reading about it before on the forums, but couldn't find it now. It happens quite often in my game and it's starting to get annoying. It seems to begin with one sim getting stuck in one end of the stairs and then the bug spreading and other sims potentially getting stuck too. I usually resolve things by pressing M and traveling to another lot.

Here's one example of how things evolved. It's not about this lot in particular, it happens on all my lots with stairs, residential and community lots alike, wide and narrow stairs. Also there doesn't have to be a social gathering, could be just a regular day. So here the red haired guy got stuck.


The red haired guy is still stuck although in more relaxed position. Sofia Bjergsen got stuck as well.


My sim walked downstairs with no problem, but while chatting to a bartender the interactions started to pile up and my only option was to escape the lot.


I have no mods or cc and I have repaired my game at some point and the bug still kept occuring. Not sure if it's related, but sometimes I notice just one interaction in the queue that gets stuck and that I'm unable to remove. It will just linger there until I travel to another lot. When my sim was stuck in the bottom picture I was unable to remove the interactions.

This is the restaurant where I first noticed the bug. A really bad case here, so many sims stuck. My sim is fine.


They're living at the Shrieking Llama. I could only see him when I peeked down at the top of the stairs.


Another restaurant case, the waitress got stuck. Happens often in restaurants.

Do you happen to have any LastException.txt files (which would be in \Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\) from the day that this occurred? If so, would you be willing to send those to me?

@SimQARobo I found one file matching the dates of the screenshots. I can send another next time they get stuck, if needed. Thanks for looking at it!

This bug just happened in my game. Its the first time. I have a house with (I think) the lowest possible foundation, with the front "stairs" only being one step high. So not actually a proper staircase. One sim came home from work, I enter build mode (because he wants to buy an instrument) when going back to live mode, he was stuck. Resetting him does nothing.

Try taking him into cas and back , and see if that helps the issue.

It happens to me too but not very often. I usually just get another sim to travel, bring the glitch sim over, or I reset them with testingcheats

I am sorry that you also sometimes have this issue. Your workarounds are good ways to help with the issue.

This happened to me too once! Go to a new lot from travel mode from the phone and then go back and they should be unstuck! :)

It was good that travelling to another lot and back helped to resolve the issue in your game.

I have this problem too. Mods are removed and game repaired and they still get stuck. It happens to me mostly when i go into build mode and go back to live mode. I usually have to close my game because they are completely frozen and don't do anything at all.

I am sorry that you also have this issue . When it occurs, try seeing if pressing M key and having them travel to another lot , or taking them into cas and back helps. Going to game options and back may also help.
