Thanks @wbombje. All the entries are amazing. Everyone is so talented. This round was a little difficult for me cause my ingame shots don't always work out like I would have liked it to, but that is the challenge.
Last day of the extension! If you don't submit but have a valid reason (such as an emergency), you receive a low total. I don't like giving zeros for those who had emergencies because that makes it impossible to catch up, so a low total TBA after scores are done will be given. If you can, you should submit though, because the total is still low and makes things difficult, but not impossible like a zero.
If you don't have a valid reason, it will be a zero unfortunately.
I will be closing this round tomorrow and judging will begin. Next assignment goes up tomorrow.
Checking in!! A3 looks interesting. I already have an idea of what I want to do. And I also have a couple of questions. When the assignment says we can mess with lighting does that include lighting effects in GIMP or Photoshop? And, is there a way to affect the lighting in game without mods (and are there any that you might recommend)?

What do you mean by "affect the lighting in game" specifically? Like outdoor lighting? Or are you moreso looking for tips on better ideas of how to do outdoor lighting?
A2 scores are up! Remember to check in if you haven't yet!
I updated the modeling sentence in A3 to say that it needs be high fashion, to make what I'm saying/looking for more clear.
If you choose modeling, remember your basics! (Eye contact or proper facing, model posing, be fashionable/high fashion, etc.)
Also, here is a (so far) complete list of camera controls for S4 (from one of my upcoming tutorials):
Controls*:
(*The description of what they do matches the order in which they are listed, so Q = Move camera down and E = Move camera up, when I write Q/E - Move camera down/up.
/ = “and” in this situation
For Mac users, Ctrl = Cmd on your keyboard) Tab – Goes into Tab camera 0 (Zero) – Pause or unpause the game, and works in Tab mode unlike the P key. Good for All-in-One poses or animations without having to constantly exit tab mode just to pause the game on a certain pose. Q/E - Move camera down/up W/A/S/D (Arrow keys work too) - Move camera forward/left/backwards/right Shift + Q/E/W/A/S/D - Larger movement in that direction Ctrl + W/A/S/D – Rotates the camera in that direction Ctrl + 5-9 - Allows you to save your camera position so you can go back to it Numbers 5-9 - Your saved camera positions Shift + 5-9 - Instantly change camera position to saved spot (hitting the numbers without Shift causes the camera to slowly go to that position) Z/X - Zoom in/out Mouse Wheel - Zoom in/out Move Mouse - Change camera pitch/angle/direction C - Take a screenshot
We only have 5 saving spots for our camera, 5-9, so a max of 5 shots is all you can get. Keep this in mind when working.
I do not have a list for S3 yet, but as far as I'm aware S3 is not as complicated as S4. I can find or put one together later for anyone who needs it though.
Also, since this has to do with in-game, I have done some minor updates to the Tutorial 1 - Setting Up Your Game (S4 Edition) - Part 1|Part 2 in my Tutorial thread. I have gone through and updated a few mod links (for any outdated mods), and also added in a new mod. I finally located a NoBlu mod outdoor version, so for those of you who have the indoor version, make sure to download the outdoor version! You can see the update post here, and I also explain (quickly) how to install the other worlds since the creator doesn't explain that part, only the base game.
@Socallucyfan I absolutely love that you won this round! Your picture was great and your model looks fantastic! I absolutely love red haired males when he looks this great. Also I love how you are killing it in this comp with Sims 3 models!
Everyone has done such amazing work and I love the creativity that this comp brings!
@Evergreen226 I was looking for both actually. I do most of my edits using in-game sets (plus I have my story), so I would love an idea for in-game lighting mods. But I am also a newbie when it comes to editing, and I am always looking for tips and tricks on how to improve. Especially when it comes to lighting.
@MizoreYukii Thanks for the help. I have heard good things about BurntWaffles, but couldn't find anything for Sims 3. Maybe I need to keep scrolling. And I was also wondering about how to get better lighting with using in-game tips, since most of my edits are in-game. You are always so helpful. Thank you!!
@wbombje Thank you so much. You are so talented and I admire your work, so your sweet comments mean a lot to me. And I actually read your comment before I saw the scores. So, that was a fun surprise!
@Jendowoz0612 thank you! Glad to see you're still around
@Socallucyfan I did the majority of my stuff in game as well, so I totally understand! I am going to go ahead and back @MizoreYukii and say that BurntWaffles was great with TS3 lighting mods. I always used this one that was on ModTheSims (used balanced and shadows, I believe). In the spoiler below, I have some pictures and tips and tricks I used when it came to outdoor lighting in game! (there are a lot of big pictures in the spoiler, just a warning for your internet, y'all!)
--main takeaway: buydebug lights of ALL sizes are your BEST FRIENDS--
This was a completely outdoor photoshoot. The lighting mod I used is the one from MTS I had mentioned and I just used one of the buydebug lights and made it essentially in my model for the appropriate lighting. You just have to get REALLY close. One of the biggest things as well is to ensure you place the light and change from Day Mode to Night Mode, it will ensure that the light illuminates your model like it's night time. Also, I almost never used a white light, I ALWAYS used candle lighting or a far away orange to offset a white light because it creates a warmer, more welcoming photo. The white light was only if I really needed the model to stand out (see below for an example).
This was using one of BurntWaffle's lighting mods I think and tbh, I'm not sure if I even had a light on her. If I did, it was pretty far away and definitely a warm light. Again, this was all outside.
This one is again, all outside and using the same technique as the first but this is one where the white light was needed because otherwise, my model would be too warm to compete with the rest of the photo. The lighting mod again is the one from MTS - I just LOVE what the orange sunset does to the photo. Also, the only light is on her - the rest of the photo is illuminated by the sunset which I think is really important because it creates a much more organic background.
This was all indoors and with a warm light - all I did otherwise was accentuate highlights with the dodge/burn tool.
Other than some sharpening and the border, this was totally in game. One big buydebug light and changing day/night and you get some VERY well-illuminated images.
Now this was completely indoor photo, actually. I deleted the ceiling to open up the sky and I used a few cyan lights to create this. By using the buydebug lights (especially smaller ones) you get a LOT of control over where your light is going, because unlike other types of game lights, they only shine in one direction and they don't illuminate behind them, hence how the photo is able to be so well illuminated in the foreground and so dark that you can't tell there's nothing else to the set as you look farther back.
To all the Participants...........This was SUPER Hard to Judge.........because Everyone did so Fantastically..........CONGRATS to the TOP 3 ......... and IF and When You don't feel comfortable with my comments or scoring and Have ANY QUESTIONS OR HELP........At my Skill Level that is....... @Rawla That's fine, you will receive a low total this round. Hope things clear up for you soon!

@Socallucyfan Both, of course! xD Anything listed in the exception list under the rules is available for you to use in any of the editing programs. I'm not sure about complete overhaul of in-game lighting, but you can use lights in the game to add subtle colors, etc. To get them to work, I believe you have to go into build mode, switch to night time, then exit build mode and they should still be on outside. (For anyone else reading this, I'm not sure if S4 works this way, but you're welcome to try.) As for mods, BrntWaffles has some great lighting/environment mods to enhance the game. She doesn't separate the games though, so you'll need to do some scrolling to get to S3.
There are also other mods out there that tweak the lighting a bit or a lot. I just did a quick search and found some of these, but the pics look great.
